I believe Darin was the most versatile entertainer of the 20th century. What he accomplished in his brief 37 years is nothing short of Legendary. Singer, musician, performer, actor, impressionist, songwriter, producer, arranger, entrepreneur, outdoorsman, activist. The man truly did it all, and he did it all so well. One of a kind, Bobby.

Bobbie Darin is before my time as I am the same age as Dodd, his son. I have heard of him but never saw him perform. I am watching footage here and... Wow! What a true talent and showman he was. It's fascinating to watch him. I love his personality and tenacity. I was sad to learn of both Bobby and Sandy's individual stories and the demise of their marriage and physical decline, then deaths. Dodd was so loving to get the true story out in his way.

It's been almost fifty years since he passed away at age 37. Three years later, he would have been 😅 90 years old had he lived. Only God knows how much he would have accomplished, if it wasn't for his fragile heart. He would've lived long enough to see himself inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and beyond. I should know, because I was, am, and always and forever will be a big fan of his.

I've always loved Bobby Darin and read the book his son wrote about his parents life. Something I learned from this was that he also had a daughter Alexa. Something else I learned in the last year was that Bobby sang a rap song way before it's popularity. Title "Me and Mr. Horner Standing on the Corner". I don't like rap but I had to go listen to it. I have listened to it several times.

Beyond the Song.1998.bio.(B Darin.D Clark.D Darin.Connie Francis.T Orlando.A Williams)[Astor]{Cilo.wrt.Anderson.ed.}_8.4_1h30_ / Documentary on the life and career of 1950s/'60s pop singer Bobby Darin, including photos from his childhood, clips from his concerts and TV appearances, and interviews with friends, family and colleagues.// This is a great start to learning more about the multi-talented, very underrated, somewhat forgotten, Bobby Darin, who achieved more in his short life than many who live twice as long. The older concert footage is particularly exciting to those of us who are just a little too young (or who were growing up in Europe, as I did) to have had the pleasure of seeing Bobby Darin live in concert in the late 50s, early 60s. The recent resurgence of interest in his music, acting, and other performances (in part due to the release of the Kevin Spacey movie and concert tours) is testament to the extraordinary body of work that is Bobby' legacy.// Bobby Darin: Beyond The Song is the definitive Bobby Darin documentary. Produced with the cooperation of the Darin estate, the film employs never-before-seen footage of Darin on and off stage, thousands of personal photographs, and interviews with Darin intimates and contemporaries. The story of Bobby Darin's life truly has to be seen to be believed, and this film is the place to start if you're interested.// The spotlight shines on Bobby Darin once again, thanks to the Spacey movie, Beyond The Sea. Bobby has been introduced to a whole new generation of fans - and long overdue. There has been so little out in the media about Bobby over the last 3 decades that Beyond The Song is invaluable in bringing this huge talent back into focus. Beyond The Song highlights the incredible multi-talented gifts that Bobby possessed. This documentary gives us insight into his complex character as well. Bobby grew up in the Fifties, Sixties and Seventies...he was only 37 when he died ! Anyone who is not already a Darin Fan will become one after seeing this movie.// I love this documentary. It's thoughtful and unintentionally funny in spots, but overall a great success story about a gifted Hunter College drop out turned early teen rock star turned swaggering rat packer hated by Sinatra. BOBBY DARIN: LIVE AT THE COPA is a TRUE ROCK CONCERT from 1961! Buy it now!//Listening to Tony Orlando gushing near tears over his pal Darin makes you wonder where he got the crocodile tears. Moments like Darin Jr. describing how the 1968 assassination of RFK affected Darin so much the singer stopped wearing his toupee in public! Shudders! Or how Bobby Darin adopted working///

Sadly no one under 40 knows who Bobby Darin is now. They might know "Mack the Knife" if they heard it. It's sad because this guy was incredible. He couldn't read or write music but he could really make it.

I'm the same age now as Bobby was when he passed and I've known who he was for years. I think he's a wonderful, underrated talent.

I've laid around and played around
      This old town too long
      Summer's almost gone
      And winter's comin' on ...
      ( 🙄 something like that )

Loved this documentary truly. Also why do good people go too soon while the scum of the earth seems to live forever? Not fair. Not fair at all. RIP Walden Robert Cassotto, AKA, Bobby Darin. You were, evidently, a great human being who left an amazing legacy, musically and otherwise. Rest in love & power.

This man had one of the biggest drives in the music industry and it wasn’t easy for him to keep performing but he did have the drive to keep going when most entertainers would have quit and most would end up working in the music business but not as an entertainer but working in some office, really doing nothing but at least they were working, but not Bobby. He just wouldn’t stop until he had the hits that launched his career. Guess Who?

Bobby Darin was a true star with incredible entertaining ability and the fact that he married the most beautiful girl in the world at the time, being Sandra Dee, was a culmination of his life, with som Dodd the result of this union. Unfortunately in life nothing lasts foreveer and their marriage only lasted six short years with Bobby dying at 37 of heart problems on the operating table and Sandra becoming a methamphetamine and alcohol addict who also died too young. In a way life is neveer whatt it appears to be.....

This is how much I loved this man's talent! First, I'm watching a a left wing Network, PBS, left wing Network! Second, the narrator of this Darin special is Keith Olberman, KEITH OLBERMAN, let that sink in, a despicable human being who's off the charts in his despicability-ism!

@@PatrickCotnoir Sorry, you're part of their group, but that's on you! Democrat Politicians are so full of hate, power, and greed but actually goes around pretending to care for people, the biggest hypocrisy ever! But even crazier than that is the people who vote for them, it's hard to believe there are that many ignorant people in this Country.

Oh my gosh, I couldn't agree with you more! Despite PBS, despite the horrible Keith Olberman, I'm enjoying this documentary about a fantastically talented man whom I find fascinating and SO charismatic. Despicable speaker, wonderful subject!

He was in a period of transition in entertainment. I really liked him, but was he from my parents generation? I wasn't sure. But was he Las Vegas? I really couldn't figure it out, but I chose the Grateful Dead, and Linda Ronstadt instead. Looking back, I just think Bobby Darin was as great as anyone in the Rat Pack. Maybe just missed it by a slight notch in timing.

Having lived in 3 foster homes thus having 4 mothers i Can feel his pain of life of lies and not told who his real mother is....😢....thinking in 1940s Christian oppression values time and its impact upon families for centuries and millinea i can only wonder what they were trying to save themselves from? Mother under age? Not married? Incest? Shamed the real father for getting her pregnant and chased him away?

That is totally untrue. Sandra had deep-seated sexual problems due to years of abuse (from the age of 5) by her stepfather. He was totally devoted to her.
