  • In this video we will be using Alias Autostudio 2020. You can also use Alias Surface for this workflow.
    This series is to help you guys see what goes on when I make a car exterior inside a design studio. How I take the sketches and the engineering data and I merge it into one cohesive model. For this project we will be using Hanbin's BMW DTM design, his photoshop tutorial can be found here

    My Alias preference set can be found here

    Hi,thanks for tutorials.
    I have a question,
    what is your PC hardware configurations and is that enough for merely heavy projects?
    what do you suggest for better performance of Alias,more cores or less cores with higher clock?
    and what about the graphics card?
    thanks so much.

    Is Alias Nurbs modelling? I want to brush up on maya nurbs modelling before taking on the monolithic task of learning alias

    • @HandleBar3D
      @HandleBar3D  4 года назад +1

      Yes that’s exactly what it is

  • @Phazon_ZNL
    @Phazon_ZNL 4 года назад

    What are your thoughts on using Alias, or Nurbs surfacing in general, for architectural design? I know that and how these kind of models could be incorporated in a production pipeline.
    However, my department does not offer any software education, but I am interested in learning the ins and outs of surface modeling to create more complex (interesting) designs.
    I am a little intimidated by learning yet another program. Especially since I have a couple others on my list for other purposes such as rendering & parametric design (I recently started with Rhino + Grasshopper). I was wondering, could you perhaps point me at some other Nurbs surfacing resources that are applicable to Rhino, before I dive into yours when I decide to learn Alias?

    • @HandleBar3D
      @HandleBar3D  4 года назад +1

      If I were you I would definitely stay in Rhino and grasshopper. I myself use them quite frequently at work and on my own projects at home. In architecture, Rhino is much more set up for their needs and workflows. Alias is for automotive and product design workflows.
      In terms of your department offering you software education, that’s doesn’t matter in today’s world. I’m self taught in rhino and Alias, theirs is plenty of resources outside of school.

    • @Phazon_ZNL
      @Phazon_ZNL 4 года назад

      @@HandleBar3D That's good to know, do you think that it's possible to follow along your tutorials with just Rhino then? Or is it lacking certain crucial features?
      For me finding resources from knowledgeable sources such as yourself is the most important to learn about modeling. Second is to make concious decisions on what to learn without wasting time on irrelevant programs. Thank you so much for putting all of this out for free!

    • @HandleBar3D
      @HandleBar3D  4 года назад +1

      Phazon ZNL I think the theory I teach is applicable to all forms of modeling. The tools are different so the path to the end result might be different but You can use this approach in clay modeling, polygon modeling, or any nurb modeler.
      Making the first basic structure, refining the volumes, adding the transitions. Working from big form thinking to smaller details.
