Notice the media can't even get it right, uefa found them guilty. The only reason they got off was due to the statute of limitations on the charges. They got off on a technicality.
UEFA are crooked, you know you have time limitation in your rules, why you UEFA didn't you start early,or make an emergency extension as not executing proper punishment will cast doubt on your integrity and footballs image world wide,I smelled a rotten fishes back then and I sincerely hope will not smell in EPL FA investigation.
This is what I was going to say and they still got a €10,000,000 fine
if man city got the evidence to give against these breaches they would give but dont
This is about nothing less than the integrity of the Premier league, if the FA allow this to go unpunished then it calls the entirety of British football into disrepute and will mean its open season for any and all teams to cheat their way to success in the future
Thing is, if City ARE kicked out of the EPL isn't that just further incentive for them to re-ignite the super league concept?
@@ClockworkGrouse as long as it's not in the EPL I don't care what they ignite, hopefully themselves first
I completely agree. I was annoyed that Chelsea worked that loop hole, and that was legal.
And now this...
IF the Prem isn't transparent about the whole process and if there is irrefutable evidence and they don't apply the appropriate punishment there will be a massive blowback.
This is big for the PL. Confident City statement doesn’t bode well for Alison and co. If they fail any lawsuit brought by City could potentially bankrupt the whole organisation.
This will lead to the creation of the European Super League. Liverpool, Spurs, and Arsenal will almost certainly leave. What's the point of staying?
6:08 city were not exonerated in their fight with UEFA. They got off on a technicality due to the number of years that had passed since the fraud occurred. They were fined, so they were ultimately proven guilty of some fraud in the past.
There was no proof of wrongdoing before the time barring period either. Just the usual finger wagging.
Question, why does Uefa or others have time,if not for crooked purposes, Uefa official have been found guilty in the past, again investigate them again, and England FA beware you don't punish Man city, you lose credibility in the eyes of footballing world.for years now fans all over the world know this, and only man city and their fans say it's a surprise and it's envy towards the club.phatetic !
Wrong. Stop making noise
Not true they were found guilty of being difficult with the preceding and nothing more
@@Supersleuth42 there is actually a whole paper trail of evidence that players and managers where getting overpaid from different companies belonging to city's owners,,its been common knowledge for years..the only reason city managed to walk away was because their was a statute of limitations technicality to make those charges unenforceable...they dragged there feet and stalled (which makes it worse)... really the EPL should lift those time limitations because that's what has allowed all this to continue...
It's really not rocket science, when it first happened they were fined 10m. But why fine them if they weren't guilty of anything lol. Treating us like we are stupid. Obviously there is some truth to this so punish them and let's move on.
The first time they got off on the technicality that the breaches they were found guilty of were over 5 years ago. The £10 million fine was because they refused to cooperate in the investigation and stalled it to the point that the charges were too long ago to press
They were never found “innocent” in the UEFA case. CAS threw out the charges because they were time barred. No other reason

@@epicboim7440 The fact City failed to cooperate was a divisive measure to deliberately slow down the investigation so some of the core charges would 'time out' which is precisely what happened. City were guilty of breaking FFP regulations but were saved by a timing technicality.
They cannot appeal to CAS this time around, only to the FA's appeal adjudicator, so if they are found guilty, they will receive a serious indictment and rightly so.

Deserve a bigger points deduction than Derby county/ Swindon. Otherwise it's corruption
Why do so many people (the guy from the Mirror being the one on this occasion) keep saying that Man City proved their innocence against the UEFA? They didn't. They just managed to get the punishment reduced down to the (meaningless) fine, which then got reduced even further later on.
Because there was no factual evidence of wrongdoing provided by the accuser.
@@Supersleuth42 No, it became moot as it was outside the 5 year statute of limitations for the UEFA rules. They were guilty, but couldn't be booted out on the technicality that no one spotted it in time.

So much hate on a British media shows you that it was a politically motivated action.
115 breaches isn't English football history, it's footballs worst scandal yet. Makes Italian football look like a picnic
In Italy, they actually hand out sanctions. Juventus most successful Serie A club, demoted to Serie B, docked points. Parma, relegated to Serie D for unpaid wages. Meanwhile all the English ever do is talk, set up investigations, talk some more, organise a smokescreen (with a nice name such as "independent commission") and then decide to go to the pub for a drink without taking any further action.

@Singin’ The Blues you missed the point. When has Pep taken a smaller side, with limited money to a major final? Or won a major league? Never.
Apparently there are at least 2 other clubs in the PL who are currently under investigation for financial irregularities? And another one for potentially making hidden transfer payments. Who signed Paul Pogba from Juventus again?
haha good luck Man united have always been above board - they spend only money that they earn - that has been proven for the last 2 decades .

The only reason that man City 'won' against UEFA was because they strung it out and strung it out so that it went out of time. That stopped the ban for 2 years that was initially imposed by UEFA - problem this time is that there are no time limitations for cases to be brought under the Premier League rules.

Why would Newcastle be worried? We're not spending like Chelsea, Man U, City or Liverpool. What's going to happen to Chelsea and Man U?
You have to love news outlets that are ‘impartial’ then come out with headlines that say “boot em out”
The british media will never cease to amaze, I really hope those journalists go nowhere in their career
What's wrong with the headline? That is being impartial. When someone commits a crime, you call for them to be done. When a football club cheats and has 100 alleged breaches of ffp, why shouldn't this be the headline? It's completely fair.
Unlike televsion news, newspapers don't have to be impartial in the UK.
British media are the biggest scoundrels on planet earth sometimes...
The fact you think the Scum is impartial lmao.
if man city got the evidence to give against these breaches they would give but dont
City aren't surprised, they've been to the high court already and lost trying to quell this case. This is going to an independent panel. Not a court. We shouldn't have to wait ages. Get it sorted.
Will the PL apply the same rigor and focus to all the other clubs? Seems that 115 charges is a lot of focus under the microscope, but have the checked other clubs to the same standards?
Man city “won” on a technicality with CAS, due to time lapse before the case got there.
They did not win anything they just were not punished. That is a difference.
Yeah , a lot different than with the similar charges for Chelsea FFP conviction a couple of years ago .
andykyriakides2144 You need to get your facts right feller. Chelsea have NEVER had any charges relating to FFP. The transfer ban Chelsea received a few years ago was in relation to breaching rules concerned with the signing of a young player before he was old enough. It had absolutely nothing to do with the breaking of any FFP rules.
They've been doing it for years! They must be booted out of the league and stripped of the titles they have won while they have been cheating the game!
Why is John Cross mentioning the CAS decision but not pointing out that they were not exonerated, the case was dismissed because of a statute of limitations issue?
If there is no factual evidence of wrongdoing there is no need for any kind of formal exoneration.
Who’s this guy on the left? They didn’t win the last time, they got off on a technicality
Probably should just use a salary cap that everyone has to abide by. That should help avoids problems like this and at Juve (along with pretty much every other club)
Many things can be done.
1. Limit squad size
2. Salary cap
Even the cost of signing players. Clubs be like my player is worth 150m yet you finish in the bottom half
Why a salary cap?
Certain clubs have earned the right through the generations to pay players what they are capable of paying.
What if there is a salary cap and then certain clubs start trying to find ways to cheat that?
Why is Newcastle always mentioned
They can't appeal it. The independent investigators ruling is final. Whether the PL have the balls go through with full punishment is another matter.
While I hope they get the axe, this is definitively false. Should EITHER side appeal the independent commissions decision, another independent commission is empaneled to hear the appeal.
Yes they can they can ask for a new independent panel after decision for an appeal
This will drag on for another year, but this time round the premier league ha e City firmly by the throat!
@@mymemories925 I was thinking about that.
Really it’s up to the premier league how long it drags out. The investigation is complete now. It will take as long as it take the prem to choose three judges and have a hearing. I've been saying for years that the most dodgy thing about city is their sponsorship, its a company partially owned by their owners, they can pump as much revenue as they like to make their books look clean. It's like chelsea being sponsored by clearlake capital Bank.
Or Newcastle with sports direct or Man United with Aon who the glazers owned at the time.. Its allowed and the amount of sponsorship is decided by either the FA or the Premier League I think... 2 windows is not the problem. Doing it for several seasons and lying to investigators is a different matter.
Chelsea is a wait and see. Chelsea think they will comply with spending rules by amortising the transfer fees over 8 year contracts (5 years FIFA limit plus 3 year option). This will be limited to 5 years amortisation from summer 2023. Chelsea have to sell to re-balance the books (it will be a buyer's market, nobody will overpay Chelsea). Whether Chelsea qualify for the Champions League 2023/2024 revenue will matter. Nobody else has done it as most clubs do not want to financially commit to 8 year player contracts
If the club has been charged then there is a belief that there is a case to answer. Why is there need for another commision to investigate, this is espeially pertinent if there is a statute of limitations hanging over the charges. Present the charges to the club then allow them to come back with there version of the case and then rule. The fact that they have been charged with not cooperating is telling too, it is either they have something to hide or relying on the statute of liitations to take effect.

They've spent £1.2Bn since 2009. Easy to cut back on spending when you've got the bulk of what you need

Hope the punishment will be a fine like 50m or more... and then PL donates the money to the clubs in the lower leagues in England.
That's chump change
The net worth of their owner should be taken into account.
A 1 billion pound fine would actually affect them. 50 million is pocket change.
Simple demand the owners sell up like abramovic had to
50 mill thats not gonna happen it will be a heavy points deduction id say 40points then you have 19 other clubs who are gonna pissed off and want them relegated if they all join up it could happen

I highly doubt points would be deducted.
Fines are lose change for city? Points deductions over a 10 year period would be a fairer punishment? The premier league won't have the balls to relegate City to the championship?
Let us see if money wins or integrity.
Man City will just pay the independent panel off. No titles will be stripped, no justice done. EPL will talk the talk but won't walk the walk
FFP is ridiculous,
we used to beg for investment to come into English football, controls on the number of players per club is required but not investment.
Exactly
There's a difference between building success and buying success, and if your also breaking the rules to buy even more than your allowed, their can be no pride in that!
its not about investments, man city literally falsified revenue so they could spend more "investment" oil money instead of what they are allowed to spend through FFP regulations. Man city bought success with oil money they werent allowed to use
Guilty until proven guilty even if they are proven innocent seems to be the general consensus.

literally take the title away and give it to the runner up just as you said
Liverpool should have double, Treble and Gerrard a title under his name. Such bs. We all knew this was going on.
Many will be stumped after all this scandal tbh.
The PL don’t have the stomach for this because they know this could blow the lid off and expose other club’s financial wrongdoings. How many clubs can you take action against? This will accelerate the development of a Super League.
If those teams would rather cheat to get ahead than compete fairly then let those cheating buggers go make their own little league. Who cares? The sport would be better off without those "entertainers". I say that because they wouldn't be sportsmen anymore, they'd become performers whose sole aim is to make money for their owners. Be careful what you you for laddy.
Do the Premier League have the power to relegate a club or just throw them out? I'm under the impression it's the latter. The football league as a separate entity makes the decision where new entrance start and they usually start the bottom. I know it was in Scotland but that's what happened to Rangers.
The EPL has the ability to withdraw membership of the EPL. The FA has the ability to withdraw membership from the English league and that would men a team would have to reapply to enter again and start at the very bottom.
Another question which nobody seems to be asking with all of this was taxation properly applied in this situation?
Strip them of all titles, relegate them to the very bottom and ban them from transfers for 10 seasons. Fine is no good here
Chelsea spent the money within the rules giving players long term contracts thats the difference, City cooked the books and thought they could get away with it.
Relegation and strip them of all trophies won . That is the only way .
Set an example to all these state owned clubs
If you make illegal payments that is also tax avoidance that can lead to prosecution and imprisonment! City won the UEFA case based on a statute of limitations technicality, you don't get fined for being innocent! If city are guilty nothing should be off the table from relegation to stripping them of their titles!
They "Welcome" the premier league statement because that's all they can say. They can't argue and sound guilty, they have to just say "Yes, let's look into it, because we have nothing to hide". The female journalist is a bit naive.
we promise to cut the grass shorter in the future
Look at what happened to Juventus for far less.
