If they are found guilty, they should be ejected down to the very bottom tier of English football and the City player can leave the club due to corruption breaching their contacts. @@roshawnseeny2531 Not a very sustainable defence. In fairness, no one wants to see their team cheat; it cheapens their emotional investment. It tarnishes the bond between dedicated, fervid fans and their team, so deflection is the first line of rhetoric. But, once reality sets in, fans shouldn’t feel personally attacked. They’ve been cheated, too. Rather, they will go through bona fide grief on their way to anger and disappointment in the con men/businessmen behind their team. Also in fairness, the team’s staff and players bear no blame in this. They didn’t cheat. Their fans didn’t cheat. City fans must be heartsick over this, so sympathy goes to them.

    • @jameshetu6885
      @jameshetu6885 Год назад

      I doubt they would go that far. Maybe an automatic point’s deduction this year for like 40 points and that way relegate them with out artificially sending them down. Just subtract points and apply the normal rules.
      If you set precedent of just tossing teams it could be abused or mishandled. Remember the Premier League is actually made up of all the clubs. They won’t want to do something that might hurt themselves in the future.
      It’s safer to stick to precedent of point deductions and apply the rules. I’m pretty sure that’s what Serie A did to Juventus

      @@scottturner2902 Rangers got away light. The SPL and SFA considered the three division demotion to be sufficient but, realistically, they didn't investigate any deeper than that. Had they looked into the contracts, they had players admitting they'd been paid off the books and received letters telling them such. If the SFA/SPL investigated that further, they would have to consider that a letter is a legally-binding document and could be considered by law to be a second contract, which would've rendered these players ineligible. They had these players with these side letters going back years, which would've mean voiding years worth of results because they had at least one of these players in the team going back several seasons.
      Realistically, that's what should happen to Man City. If they have players or managers getting paid cash off the books, they're ineligible and the appropriate sanctions should be applied.

      The appropriate punishment is easy.
      City should be stripped of all titles, expulsed from the English league and then have to reapply. Fines are not enough for the level of charges that are being brought forward. There is also a risk that they have issues with the HMRC.
      There is no middle ground if the EPL does not do what is necessary the brand will be damaged and the Government will appoint oversight to the whole industry. The government is champing at the bit to get involved and are just waiting for the right opportunity. The eyes of the world are on the EPL. This news has already gone global.

    Here's my opinion on it, City have pumped millions into football. The FA and Uefa have benefited massively from the clubs owners.
    They've built over 6000 new homes in the surrounding area, they've invested large amounts of money into transfers, wages, jobs and even paid huge fines that didn't take a wrinkle out of them.
    Football is incredibly corrupt, just look at the World Cup. Money talks and it always will. There is no doubt they need to be seen to punish City for this and rightly so but it won't be as severe as people on here believe.
    I know there are comparisons to Juventus and they were sanctioned and docked points but Juventus don't put anywhere near the same money into this sport and the powers at the top don't gain anywhere near as much from them as they do City.
    The last thing the FA and Uefa want, is for that gravy train to stop. They may get a transfer ban and a fine but I don't see anything else.
