And, finally, let us just assume that the colony just holds on, and is just a single reasonably sizable settlement that is still recognizable when the age of Exploration kicks off centuries later. The English explorers discover the colony, and aside from some interesting stories “oh look, the Vikings made it out this far!” Somebody in Northern Europe is going to say “well, this means we were here first, so we obviously have the best claim to this entire region.”

Plagues probably wouldn't spread from Europe but with livestock animals and much larger settelments the new world migth end up having its own major plagues that could make the plague exchange also hurt Europe.

For the next time use What if Germany won at Stalingrad. It is absolutely indifferent, as both sides lost many soldiers there, which unlike the Soviet Union Germany couldnt really replace. Also not only did Germany by that point have a good synthetic oil production, so they wouldnt really need the oil fields that much, as they needed it when the offencive was decided and it thus wouldnt help the slightest bit with Germanys war effort. Not to mention, that even if victorious at Stalingrad, there is no way in which the Germans would not only reach the oil fields, but actually take them, since they would be supplied through Iran, or even blown up if worst comes to worst. Resistance to raiding is stronger than expected, and with few options, the Vikings are forced to seek out greener pastures.
Yeah Waterloo is one of many instances that are only significant because the result was as it was, if they went the other way they would be one of background events, that would slightly shift the timeline but would not have as bit an impact as many think.

Like you only need two of s kind of livestock to form a herd. Imagine if they got horses before 1500! What european technology do the natives pick up from the vikings? This could kickstart the iron age there, and would strengthen North America relative to say mesoamerica. Who could resist the rise of the Aztecs would change, and without such a large subjugated population, would Cortez be able to leverage quite as many native allies in his conquest?
It's funny to put it as a suggestion under this video of all things, but I've thought for a while about the exact opposite to this, as in "X number of Scenario's that sound irrelevant, but would have COLOSSAL implications upon human history". I think it would be fun if you did that side of the coin too. Take some small decision, battle, appointment or death that not just could have realistically gone the other way, but also would change everything going forward in an utterly profound way, and do a scenario on it. I'm sure there are many good ones, all the way from battles in ancient times (Persia conquers Greece) to 20th century US elections (Wilson loses in 1912), out there.
Honestly, great points! My only peave is with Waterloo as nearly all nation (outside of Russia) were really ready to throw in the towel, especially britain, after the end of the napoleonic war. Quite a bit of british propaganda helped smooth the fact that after the first defeat of napoleon, it took meer days for the entire british public to stop occupations, stop all the massive spending and more like a cork from a bottle. Sure those ideas where somewhat supressed after Napoleon return, but if Waterloo is another costy defeat, their is a non zero chance for the british public to force the british parliament's hand unless they quickly find a way to deal with napoleon. I know you're kindof suffering CGP gray syndrome here where all the "experts" suddenly appear after you stopped your researched, but I advise you to see historia civilis videos on the the congress of Vienna if you hadn't has well as the work he cited on his video. There, it showed a side not much said on the napoleonic wars where britain was much more on the backfoot than it ever dare claim itself to risk it's prestige hurt greatly. Could you make a scenario of what if Germany stayed on the pragmatic path of Otto von Bismarck instead of that of the Kaiser. Germany wouldn't have annexed Alsace-Lorraine, Wouldn't pursue a colonial policy and wouldn't build up a navy.
I would add from myself "What if the Bronze Cultures of Mesopotamia had not collapsed". - which I think comes from the conviction that their collapse looked like the sea urchins came, burned everything and left, leaving aside the collapse of palace economies or the gradual changes of societies and tribes in these lands.
This is actually a challenge, coming up with changes of history that *don't* have much impact. That said... 1) What if the Ottoman Empire took Vienna in 1683? 2) What if the Irish Easter Uprising of 1917 succeeded? 3) What if Japan won the Battle of Midway? 4) What if George McGovern won the presidency in 1972?
A few suggestions: -What if Charles Martel lost the battle of Tours ? The Muslim invasion probably wouldn't spread that far beyond southern France. The biggest change would be the absence of Charlemagne from the timeline. What if Alexander the Great didn't die young ? What if the Spanish armada landed in Britain? What if Columbus never came back from his expeditions?
I absolutely do want a part two. I really love how your videos are nuanced and don't rely on historical anecdotes or stereotypes (it always surprises me how many people on the internet, even some content creators, have such a superficial view of history, something like 'rome good turk bad' or 'the soviet army was a horde of mindless marauders and rapists that were leaving nothing behind' lol)
If Julius Caesar wasn't it would be a big change but not for the reasons people think. Octavian AKA our timeline's Augustus would still be in charge. If anything his ascension would be a lot more likely than in our timeline. The difference would be in how he governed. Without the lessons of the assassinations and his time as a triumvir, he would've made vastly different decisions, shaping the future of Roman government in a new direction.
That last scenario could be an interesting one to explore if, say, for whatever reason, Norway rejected being a part of the Kalmar Union, causing a retaliatory war from Sweden and Denmark, thus forcing many a Norwegian to flee to Iceland, Greenland, and Vinland (or something along those lines)

That would likely only be the case if they didn't intend to return it and honour Yalta. Some BS arguments could be drawn up. Maybe America thinks themselves untouchable with the nukes. If that is how the scemario is contructed it could lead to a far more hostile cold war which could be interesting.

Many people talk of this as it would be a total game changer, a turning point leading to the fall of the Ottomans and a Byzantine rebound, to an extent, but the sad truth is that 1453 wasn't the first Ottoman attempt to besiege the city (iirc they tried in 1402 under Bayezid I but I'm not sure) and even if it was, surely they would've tried again, and besides, Costaninople was a decadent city by that point, capital of a decadent and weak "empire" who was even a tributary to the Ottomans and destined to fall to the hands of somebody, most likely the Ottomans, shortly. The only way this can have some sort of impact is if a crusade was declared as the Ottomans attempted besieging the city, but apart from the fact the first time the Ottomans tried taking Costantinople there was no crusade and that, to my knowledge, there were no serious proposals to declare a crusade in 1453 in light of the siege, we must also keep in mind that a crusade was already fought 9 years before, the Crusade of Varna, and it was disastrous for the Eastern Catholic powers, who probably still would've been recovering from that great loss by that point, and even if they weren't, wouldn't have been so keen on attempting another crusade against the same power who humiliated them, devastated them, and murdered the most powerful East European king of the time just 9 YEARS BEFORE. Nor do I think the Pope would've been dumb enough to try again. So, in conclusion, nothing changes if Costantinople doesn't fall in 1453.

Without international revolutions succeeding within those first couple decades, the USSR would have more or less turned out similarly to OTL, with I think the exception of Bukharin who most likely would have doomed the Union in WW2

It's funny to put it as a suggestion under this video of all things, but I've thought for a while about the exact opposite to this, as in "X number of Scenario's that sound irrelevant, but would have COLOSSAL implications upon human history". I think it would be fun if you did that side of the coin too. Take some small decision, battle, appointment or death that not just could have realistically gone the other way, but also would change everything going forward in an utterly profound way, and do a scenario on it. I'm sure there are many good ones, all the way from battles in ancient times (Persia conquers Greece) to 20th century US elections (Wilson loses in 1912), out there.

Honestly, great points! My only peave is with Waterloo as nearly all nation (outside of Russia) were really ready to throw in the towel, especially britain, after the end of the napoleonic war. Quite a bit of british propaganda helped smooth the fact that after the first defeat of napoleon, it took meer days for the entire british public to stop occupations, stop all the massive spending and more like a cork from a bottle. Sure those ideas where somewhat supressed after Napoleon return, but if Waterloo is another costy defeat, their is a non zero chance for the british public to force the british parliament's hand unless they quickly find a way to deal with napoleon.
I know you're kindof suffering CGP gray syndrome here where all the "experts" suddenly appear after you stopped your researched, but I advise you to see historia civilis videos on the the congress of Vienna if you hadn't has well as the work he cited on his video. There, it showed a side not much said on the napoleonic wars where britain was much more on the backfoot than it ever dare claim itself to risk it's prestige hurt greatly.

If Julius Caesar wasn't it would be a big change but not for the reasons people think. Octavian AKA our timeline's Augustus would still be in charge. If anything his ascension would be a lot more likely than in our timeline. The difference would be in how he governed. Without the lessons of the assassinations and his time as a triumvir, he would've made vastly different decisions, shaping the future of Roman government in a new direction.
That last scenario could be an interesting one to explore if, say, for whatever reason, Norway rejected being a part of the Kalmar Union, causing a retaliatory war from Sweden and Denmark, thus forcing many a Norwegian to flee to Iceland, Greenland, and Vinland (or something along those lines)

With the Allied takeover of Berlin, an interesting scenario may arise: what if the Soviets fail to occupy militarily the territories given at Yalta and the Allies keep them after the war. That is, to summarise "What if the Allies deceived the Soviets, instead of the Soviets deceiving the Allies?".
3:11 Leaders going back on their words isn't unheard of. So America capturing Berlin could would need the american leaders seeing utility in that. That would likely only be the case if they didn't intend to return it and honour Yalta. Some BS arguments could be drawn up. Maybe America thinks themselves untouchable with the nukes.
If that is how the scemario is contructed it could lead to a far more hostile cold war which could be interesting.

"What if Costantinople fell in 1453". Many people talk of this as it would be a total game changer, a turning point leading to the fall of the Ottomans and a Byzantine rebound, to an extent, but the sad truth is that 1453 wasn't the first Ottoman attempt to besiege the city (iirc they tried in 1402 under Bayezid I but I'm not sure) and even if it was, surely they would've tried again, and besides, Costaninople was a decadent city by that point, capital of a decadent and weak "empire" who was even a tributary to the Ottomans and destined to fall to the hands of somebody, most likely the Ottomans, shortly. The only way this can have some sort of impact is if a crusade was declared as the Ottomans attempted besieging the city, but apart from the fact the first time the Ottomans tried taking Costantinople there was no crusade and that, to my knowledge, there were no serious proposals to declare a crusade in 1453 in light of the siege, we must also keep in mind that a crusade was already fought 9 years before, the Crusade of Varna, and it was disastrous for the Eastern Catholic powers, who probably still would've been recovering from that great loss by that point, and even if they weren't, wouldn't have been so keen on attempting another crusade against the same power who humiliated them, devastated them, and murdered the most powerful East European king of the time just 9 YEARS BEFORE. Nor do I think the Pope would've been dumb enough to try again.
So, in conclusion, nothing changes if Costantinople doesn't fall in 1453.

I say it may not be anything toooooo major because it would hardly cause the allies to surrender + it does not really affect the soviet union at all so they would still take berlin and itd probably just cause the soviets to take more of germany than they did in real life

Aside from potentioaly forcing america to build a canal in nicaragua instead of panama, I dont really see gran colombia being less corrupt than irl just because its bigger. What if (insert other Soviet politician) replaced Stalin as leader of the USSR is a good starting point. Without international revolutions succeeding within those first couple decades, the USSR would have more or less turned out similarly to OTL, with I think the exception of Bukharin who most likely would have doomed the Union in WW2
