I admire that they show just how debilitating a migraine can be. And that wasn’t even the worst of the worst. People consider them just like headaches but they feel farrr from it!
As a migraine sufferer, you are correct; worst throbbing headache imaginable + nausea/vomiting + blind spots/visual artifacts...all this over the course of multiple hours. And, don't forget the headache hangover and hyper-sensitivity to light, sound and motion the day after!
I had blind spots just below the center of my vision and couldn't recite music I've memorized. A sense of doom with artifacts along with that piercing pain and sensitivity to light. Glad I haven't had one in years.
@@Valientlink interesting, I used LSD, and it cured my migraines, psylocybin also, helped, DMT with how fast it works would be very interesting, these drugs need more research and legality.

I dunno why they did that. I guess people don’t know that’s how the sets are built where basically all the walls can lift up. But it’s showing behind the scenes for some weird joke that never comes back.
I've suffered from debilitating migraines almost my whole half a century life. I hear people all the time walk around in the workplace or in the public and say, "Oh, I have such a terrible migraine. I'll take a couple of aspirin and it will go away in a little while." I will assure you, these people don't know what a true migraine is. You vomit violently, you sometimes have diarrhea and vomiting simultaneously, you can't be subjected to even the smallest light or sound, and I can't even lay my head on a soft pillow it is so tender and hurts so bad. I've tried almost all of the migraine preventatives, etc. None of them work unless you know you're getting a migraine and you take it about 24 hours before you get it, like Imitrex. Yes, sometimes I'll see little tracers of light and my vision will get blurry days before. Then my memory becomes worse. Often though, there is no pre aura and it just hits like when you wake up in the morning. For those, nothing short of a stronger narcotic will work for relieving that pain. I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. Don't even get me started about cigarette smoke, INSTANT trigger for a migraine. I don't even like going out in the public anymore because all the smokers. In short, migraines are definitely a life changer as they have cost me numerous high level positions at companies.
@@parodyplus5576 yes, sometimes I'll smell burning tires, cigarette smoke, etc. and nothing is there. It's a sensory aura for sure. My taste is usually off too. I'll notice if I have a soft drink, it will taste metallic or kind of off from normal.
headaches are terrible, I can get some really bad ones but never as bad as when I was a kid. Always having to close the blinds and turning off the lights, laying there with a cold washcloth covering my eyes. Sometimes would get nauseous and light headed, to the point that I would have to go to the bathroom to throw up to empty my stomach until I was dry heaving. then being so weak and covered in sweat as I crawled back to my room on my hands and knees, then weakly climbing up into my bed where I would simply pass out immediately. would never want to go through that ever again.
Migraine sufferer here. Thank you House! It's not just a headache. It's not even appropriately described as pain. You feel your entire soul being torn apart. You're just incapacitated. Glad there are some medical options but for those who don't get them--this depiction isn't half bad.
I’ve been addicted to Vicodin before. My grandfather had like 500-count jars of the stuff sitting in his garage and never used them. But he also had vasodilators that looked almost exactly the same. Once I got them mixed up and took 4 of the vasodilators instead of 4 Vicodin - woke up with the most extreme and intense migraine headache of my life, and the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. Felt like my heads was going to explode - literally. Pretty sure that’s almost exactly what House is experiencing here.
I once had a migraine. Couldn't stand up, let alone walk, and as such had to stay the whole day in bed, writhing in agony. Felt like my head was splitting apart.
As someone who owns the box set and has re-watched this episode countless times, the video title isn't exactly accurate. Technically, the migraine-suffering coma patient is only featured in that one scene, whereas Adam (who was the guest star and the patient featured throughout that episode), was the burn victim that was placed in the medically induced coma and also...climaxed, if you will, but never suffered a migraine.
@@Rune. I know. I can read Hindi. I'm saying most of the words on the book are gibberish. Although the title of the book does actually mean "Brain Knowledge", and there's a subtitle of "Newly Delhi" (not New Delhi, for some reason), so I guess they put those parts into Google Translate.
I've dealt with migraines my whole life, for many many years. I'm not a doctor and I don't have a degree in medical school, but as someone who suffered with it for as long as I have, I can confidently say that this show perceived what it's like having a migraine *completely wrong!* The headache doesn't start until at least about an hour into the actual migraine, the very first symptoms you'll notice is confusion/disorientation, migraine aura (blindness), and inability to think properly, followed by numbing in the fingers/toes/mouth that progressively spreads. Also, didn't you guys already upload this clip? It was titled, "How It Feels To Be Right | House M.D."

The exchange with Wilson and "your math blows" my favorite of the whole series. Makes me think of Ghostbusters.
