i know it's an old video however to assist fellow tubers, i just been trough this weird squeal "normally up and down sqeeal not rotational if that makes sense,, it was the lower ball joints as they dry out and i could not regrease them as old grease inside balljoint was hard as concrete not letting me regrease "tried wd 40 undo nipple spray in""only solution was new lower ball joint, i did upper too while i was in there. i swore it sounded like a rubber to steel squeal but there you go "balljoints".. intermittent rotational squeel on dry days check your cv to hub "seal" spray with wd40 to test, sounds like bearing but is not..
Yeah turned out I'd missed a grease nipple on the front end and it was dry as buggery. Took a ridiculous amount of grease to fill up but now the noise has pretty much all gone.
Awesome tyres, nice suspension, excellent filming. Bought a grease pump but it seemed I missed a couple of... nipples too!! And it annoys me every time I hear it... Btw, greasing every 5000km seems to be OK. Depends on how rough/off road use.
Bottom ball joint is buggered. Had the same problem, fairly easy to replace.. I know the post is a little old, but for anyone else out there and maybe the author if he didn't fix it.. I did the usual, spray WD40 on all points but could not make it go away, change the bottom ball joint and noise has gone completely. I didn't pull the old one apart but I am guess ing it was metal on metal, when you jack up the car see if there is any movement at the BJ if you can't work it out take it to a suspension place and get them to check it. I did have movement of the wheel top to bottom (similar to loose wheel bearing) but it is now gone as well.
3 years later but for anyone needing help with this and similar issues. Lanox/lanolin, spray every joint/ moving part of the steering/suspension/torsion assembly with it. Worked for me, i thought id try it before i disassembled the wheel assmbly etc. Another tip for anyone considering doing these things to their cars, you can midway through and call a mechanic to put it back together if you need an adult.
My parents have one and the mechanic says its eithers the ball joint needs greasing or the spring is cracked and grease nipples are so annoying especially when you get a new car you never really know if a car has them or not
btw kudos to Andrew Clark for taking time to post this video as it helped me diagnose my 94 NJ Pajero

I have a Pajero 1992 I had the same problem when I got it the first time. You need to pump grease my friend.
mine does the same thing. did you ever find out what was making the squeak?
I had the same problem in my l200, I decided with new steering knobs and with new hangers, hope that help you
hi the creak comes from bushes in the lower arm just turn up the music
what went wrong? whats causing the creaking
It was from a dry grease nipple that wasn't super obvious at first glance so it was missed
sounds like play in the steering idler arm. IMHO.
thanks. got an 87 l300 van need shocks that fit
what shocks are those !
Ironman 4x4 foam cells
Yeah I got 4 fixed
i have the same noise.
i've greased up all parts that have nipples and the noise is still there. what part should i check on?
