Gates of the Abyss was actually my favorite mission in the original Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne. You got full control over two armies, Naga and Blood Elves, and got to fight against a unique enemy in the Fel Orcs. I wish they could have given us one or two more missions like that in the Blood Elf campaign, as I really wanted to explore the Naga and Blood Elf rosters for more than one mission.
Last boss on last lvl: haha what will you do now I’m too strong *two naga royal guards show up* Boss: oh no grant got access to the thing that made him suffer the last campaign
Fun fact: they patched Grant's exploit for Dark Covenant. The game forcably removes any town portals you might have from the previous mission, and there are none in the shop when you load into the mission. Gotta love them changing the things that don't matter, or are a slight exploit to make the game a little easier. A fully fledged game, well, that's simply too much work.
I fairly recently ran through the entirety of the Frozen Throne (original CD copy) and applied many of the same tactics because I just love using my heroes and save my resources in the process. Enjoyed it greatly to see you do similar.
G, I'm dissapointed.... You forgot to mention how unique the objective of Gates of the Abyss is! I mean, you have FOUR portals, each one of them is reenforced with a progressively larger wave of demons! It hadn't been done before!
Blizzard = AHAH you cant defeat this powerfull demon lord that we made without loosing a unit. GGG = let me use your own weapon against you after all the suffering you make
8:49 I know this is two two years too late but I remember the same thing happening in the original. My guess is that it was just a bonus mission and didn't want players to get stuck or something.
Fun fact: it is a bit easier to do the deatless run in reforged since you can stack several items, like the pocket watch towers or scrolls of healing on a single item slot while in the no reforged version you can only have one of those items per slot.
Also helps that the game doesnt take away the town portal for the mission like the original did 😬 just tried to do this striatgy and immideatly was not viable
Considering that the army he starts with seems to be decently sized (probably 50 supply including heroes), he probably doesn't have enough supply to spam Couatls to a critical mass.
Couatls are still not strong enough to handle the fel orc base since they get grounded by raiders and easily killed, I guess they could work versus the gates but idk.
Same here. Maybe you can't create enough coatls to make the demon gates easy if you don't lose your starting army, simply because of the supply it takes up?
I mean he starts with 38 supply. That's still 62 supply worth of Couatls. Now I don't know if they nerfed it in reforged but in the original they were only 2 supply so that's still 31 Couatls which is way over critical mass if you ask me
It was really clever how u finished 2nd mission. I am really exiting to see how will finish undead's first mission. Kel'tuzad's weak units, overpowered quards attacking Sylvana's side, and couple of paladins in middle of the map.
You, sir, are a genius! 2:00 If you want to increase your gold income, build Town Centar further from gold mine, so more peasants can dig up gold. You can put only 5 of them if you build TC as close as possible. Also work for Orcs. Maybe it doesn't work in Reforged, I don't know. 4:00 And I think this wouldn't work in old WC3, you could carry only one item per slot. Maybe they change that in some later patches, or my memory is crap.
I remember when I played this. I would use Kael’s mana siphon power to pump mana into Vashj’s mana shield to tank shots. Since I don’t see GGG doing this, I’m going to assume it wasn’t actually a good strat
Grant: *Uses the "cheap" Mana Stone from the second mission throughout two campaigns to make his strategies work and do a deathless run* Blizzard: "Wait, that's illegal!"
In the original version, the mission 2 needs a different strategy cause you cannot stack 5 ivory towers in the same slot. Found a way though, the two sorceress in the bottom side have Master Training, so you can cast invisibility on 4 units and create a barrier in the bridge with a space so thigh that only ghouls and necromancers can Cross (though you cannot stack ivory towers, you probably still wanna buy 5 and a scroll of town portal. With that and two extra towers that the workers can create you can Take out the ghouls an necromancers that cross the gap of your invisible units barrier, and with kael you can cast flame strike to the remaining enemies that are blocked by the barrier, that will damage them enough so that your towers can clear it and just move a unit so that they come one at a time.
Well this is a delightful surprise to wake up to! I honestly didn't know that items carried over between campaigns, though; that's really cool. Mad props for managing this - I honestly wasn't sure if this was possible, mostly thanks to that Dimensional Portal level.
@@ventu7907 Which he won't be doing, because he counts it as losing an acolyte, even though they're technically replaced by the Shade. He has another strategy to pass that stage.
Hey grant if you didnt know on the second mission if you move all outlying units to a corner (atcthe very back of each side) they will all teleport to the middle island after all the buildings are destroyed.
For the final mission in the final campaign, if you have a Horn of the Clouds, try dropping it in the circle Illidan wanted to capture, he will pick it up & instead of destroying your towers, he will cast cloud on them instead.
Absolute fucking madman. I believed for the longest time that it's impossible to do this in TFT UD, but now I'm both excited and terrified to see what you come up with to best it.
The Tower defense mission will always be a victory after all towers have been unlocked, no matter which wave you lose in.. This is true both in the original W3 and in the Reforged.
That mana stone is the most important relic in the entire warcraft universe. That is a plot twist I did not see coming. Sadly, I think the run ends here, I really don't see how the undead campaign is possible, mostly because of that first mission. I bet Sylvanas could do it, maybe Arthas' segment is possible, but defending Kel Thuzad's area with necromancers and ghouls? Yeahhhh... I don't see any way around that. Absolutely amazing run, and I'm definitely curious to see how much of the undead campaign is doable deathless!
I will start liking your videos, I have watched them all about 5 times through in the past few days, Thank you for continuing to make videos & please, no more racing down stairs.
On the first mission you can get a badass ogre with chaos damage from the southern part of the map. With it, army becomes quite formidable and and you can clean mobs near third observatory and only then establish base on the island. Then you won't have to deal with so many waves of undead.
I'm so stupid. When you said, "Let's start off with Misconceptions." I was thinking you were going to explain something we misunderstood and got confused when you went straight to the mission. (I wasn't looking at the screen at the time, my RUclips was on loudspeaker on my phone)
I cannot wait to see the undead campaign. Specially after finishing it yesterday. And,my God, what a complicated campaign being, Sylvanas+Garithos Lordaeron siege and the final showdown between Arthas and Illidan forces, the hardest by far in all Frozen Throne in my case.
"Mana stone of Tree Grant" legendary item (get it? "tree" as in "three", ggg) maybe a month ago i would have wished blizz made it a legendary item in wow
Hmm... Now, I haven't played WoW since wrath, so pardon my old-timer talk here, with all the newfangled game mechanics... Mana Stone of the Grand Grant (product of an overfunded research project by the kirin tor - "the grand grant" - to produce better mana stones. And Giant n Grand are like, synonyms or whatever.) -Plus spell power -Chance on cast to provide the raid with a mana restoration buff (same numbers as replenishment, or whatever it was called. And stacks with it.) -Also can be used as a hearth stone, because bro, this rock's been everywhere and just wants to kick back at a tavern.
Actually, I did my own deathless challenge for this campaign and I found another path for the first level. Basically, once you get the boats, you travel to the bottom right corner of the map. Do NOT go to the middle of the map. There you will pick up 2 dwarf riflemen and fight an ogre warchief (lvl 9). If you macro well, you will be able to kill the warchief without losing a unit. The reason you want to kill this warchief is he will drop a rune of rebirth. Basically, he will reappear as a member of your party. You now have a 1200 HP unit that does over 100 chaos damage per hit, has the command aura and bash. With this character as your tank, you can slowly wipe out the undead base before you build a single structure. Once you have destroyed the undead base, the rest of the map is a cakewalk. However, it does take a long time.
Damn, those were some nice strats that I never would've thought! I managed to go deathless on A Dark Covenant until the assault on the green base (since I could intercept the ground attacks while they were crossing the river on Zeppelins I only needed Dragonhawks and towers to defend from the fliers) but yea I never would've been able to destroy that without losing units lol. Also Gates of the Abyss was very well done, I always dread the first three minutes because it feels impossible to not lose all your weakened units. Lord of Outland is very easy in comparison, with your overpowered heroes and the two Royal Guards alone you can destroy almost everything so I literally only lost units because I purposefully let them die to bring them back at full with the Rune of Greater Resurrection as I was fighting Magtheridon. Additionally, Akama comes with a Staff of Silence which makes most enemy heroes total bait. One thing I do wonder is why didn't you use the Phoenix? Since it never despawns as long as you don't let it die it seems like it'd be the one summoned unit you'd be fine with. Also afaik in The Dungeons of Dalaran your melee units are magic immune (Lieutenants and Spellbreakers) so Flame Strike shouldn't harm them. Other than that, this was really cool to watch!! That Mana Stone has been to places alright.

Sir, I applaud your dedication. This series is so much fun to watch, and at the same time I can feel the pain you had to go through.
I fairly recently ran through the entirety of the Frozen Throne (original CD copy) and applied many of the same tactics because I just love using my heroes and save my resources in the process. Enjoyed it greatly to see you do similar.
what perfect timing. I JUST rewatched this series yesterday. All refreshed and ready to go B-)
G, I'm dissapointed....
You forgot to mention how unique the objective of Gates of the Abyss is! I mean, you have FOUR portals, each one of them is reenforced with a progressively larger wave of demons! It hadn't been done before!
You don't technically destroy the gates, so he gets a pass on this one
My favorite campaign since childhood, been waiting for this!
Blizzard = AHAH you cant defeat this powerfull demon lord that we made without loosing a unit. GGG = let me use your own weapon against you after all the suffering you make
He also didn't buff Ilidan, he can surely solo that hero with gear and buffs, it's not that hard.
@@acb1511 he did give him overpower item but if he is unit to buff him those unit could have die so not doing so was safer
@@arthurvaney6166 As far as I remember, you get inner fire + unholy frenzy + roar at least, this is +100% DPS untill they expire.

I know this is two two years too late but I remember the same thing happening in the original. My guess is that it was just a bonus mission and didn't want players to get stuck or something.
Babe wakeup, Grant has a new deathless run
I am angry that this does not have more views. This was amazing.
I have been waiting for this so long! Luckily you decided to do the Tower Defense!
Actually surprised you didn't use Couatls in the Gates of Abyss.
Now I don't know if they nerfed it in reforged but in the original they were only 2 supply so that's still 31 Couatls which is way over critical mass if you ask me
@@alexei985 yeah I guess it could work, he would still have to be careful tho.
I'm starting to love the effort you put into these videos.
Great run. The planning over several missions and even campaigns is insane.
Garithos jailed Kael'thas over the tax of all those towers.
I remember when I played this. I would use Kael’s mana siphon power to pump mana into Vashj’s mana shield to tank shots. Since I don’t see GGG doing this, I’m going to assume it wasn’t actually a good strat
Your videos always make me happy.
Grant: *Uses the "cheap" Mana Stone from the second mission throughout two campaigns to make his strategies work and do a deathless run*
Blizzard: "Wait, that's illegal!"
Man I love these videos... its insane how skilled you are. I wonder what kind of crazy rules you will make for yourself once you get these all done..
6:35
Hold on, didn't the Naga come and give you the boats in the first mission so you could get to the observatories?
HAHAHA the medical station joke at 5:44 got me
I just finished binging all of the videos and here comes a new one :) So happy.
i love these runs and your commentary to an unhealthy degree haha
So far, incedibly fun to watch series both sc and wc, keep up the good work. :)
16:40-17:06 my favorite part of this video. The emotions are so real
Won't you regret not dropping all of Illidan's, Kael and Vash's items during the final undead mission ?
Nah, that probably won't ever come back to bite him... :D
@@zairaner1489 this feels like forshadowing
@@theotherguy4456 Sadly, I haven't watched the vods for the ud campaign, so i can only hope it is foreshadowing ;)
It doesn’t really matter. Illidan can be imprisoned by shades in the last ud mission
He couldn't do that because they're only teleported at the end of the cutscene that he never triggers. He unlocked an extra dimension of cheese!
Mad respect for you doing these runs. I still don’t know how you are sane.
Great content as always! I wish I hadn't got so distracted by that awesome Warcraft 2 music.

Improved Masonry
Increases the armor and hit points of human structure, and increase bunker capacity by 2
Wait, what?
It like when he said terran base in the orc campaign
Giant Grant Games showcasing his Giant Grand Brain!
I love how this video comes out at 2 in the morning and watch it within the hour. I need to fix my sleeping schedule lol
I am very happy that i was right about mission 2 and gates being impossible to do normally.
Remember kids:
Mana stone is MVP, it is even better than frostmourne:)))
Frostmorn maimed Muridan... It's a trash runeblade
Aren't there sobi masks available in the campaign?
This series is awesome. Just started the video as im typing this and i cant wait for the next video
I have an inner applause every time I get a notification for your uploads.
I will start liking your videos, I have watched them all about 5 times through in the past few days, Thank you for continuing to make videos & please, no more racing down stairs.
My day just went from good to great in a second. Thank you GGG :)
as always the written commentary on the video fucking kills me the "hey guys can i play" fucking slayed me.
I had to laugh at the intro ...Lady Vashj ... so good :D
GG man !
The opening scene was very funny.
On the first mission you can get a badass ogre with chaos damage from the southern part of the map. With it, army becomes quite formidable and and you can clean mobs near third observatory and only then establish base on the island. Then you won't have to deal with so many waves of undead.
When I saw the royal guard.. I actually wanted to start properly cheering. It finally came full circle!
Damn that was some fine work! I was certain it was impossible because of mission 2 and general unit flimsiness.
I'm so stupid. When you said, "Let's start off with Misconceptions."
I was thinking you were going to explain something we misunderstood and got confused when you went straight to the mission.
(I wasn't looking at the screen at the time, my RUclips was on loudspeaker on my phone)
Absolutely same
That intro skit was exceptional. Thank you. XD
I am crying over the history of that mana stone :)
I cannot wait to see the undead campaign. Specially after finishing it yesterday. And,my God, what a complicated campaign being, Sylvanas+Garithos Lordaeron siege and the final showdown between Arthas and Illidan forces, the hardest by far in all Frozen Throne in my case.
your runs are incredible. simply amazing.
"Mana stone of Tree Grant"
legendary item
(get it? "tree" as in "three", ggg)
maybe a month ago i would have wished blizz made it a legendary item in wow
Hmm... Now, I haven't played WoW since wrath, so pardon my old-timer talk here, with all the newfangled game mechanics...
Mana Stone of the Grand Grant (product of an overfunded research project by the kirin tor - "the grand grant" - to produce better mana stones. And Giant n Grand are like, synonyms or whatever.)
-Plus spell power
-Chance on cast to provide the raid with a mana restoration buff (same numbers as replenishment, or whatever it was called. And stacks with it.)
-Also can be used as a hearth stone, because bro, this rock's been everywhere and just wants to kick back at a tavern.
character vs ...
Mana stone vs goblin mines!
Who will win?
The Unsung Eminence in Shadows that made everything possible vs The true defenders of Azeroth.
Tough matchup.
some rplayers in goldshire obviously.
However, it does take a long time.
that meat wagon prison was the craziest thing i've ever seen
Great video! I know these must take a ton of time to make and edit carefully, amazing work!
This series are a highlight to my months in covid
Oh when I played that final mission for the first time and saw that I had the Naga Royal guard, I was sooo happy :3 I knew nothing could stop us now
Nice! I was waiting so long for this one!
I feel that "almost" at the end.
Thanks for the video.
