super budget 3 inch lift kit on the supercharged grand cherokee. needed tires and I wanted 33s so I made it work temporarily. I chose Bfgoodrich mt km3 tires iv always had good luck with on road ride quality. diy adjustable short arms coming soon and long arms later down the road
Thomas, been promoting your channel where I can. Like what your doing. Want to see more ZJ stuff, the Dakotas cool but subbed for the ZJ
I subscribed because you said "i wanna build it, not bolt on new crap. Im a builder, thats what I do".
Thank you I appreciate it greatly
I'm in
Good morning Thomas. Tue. Tallahasse FL. 8:00am est. Just rewatching this tire upgrade over coffee. I like the BFG K3 choice. The best choice for overall use on/offroad in my opinion also. My stock tires, Goodyear wrangler A/T 235/75r15 on the same rims as you have are still 70% tread so I'll keep saving for a winter lift (eyeballs on the, If had more money than commonsense, OME 4.5 short arm kit, yep, bolt on as I not as good as I once was, and, tires BFG K3 probably too), while prepping by keeping my eyes peeled for still good cheap, "yuppie guppie" JL, JK takeoff suspension parts so, I dont take the hit of new parts prices. Anyhoo, looking forward to your next video or update mod. Make it a good day bud!
Iv always been a fan of BFG tires iv never balanced my offroad tires and they still ride great on the road at 80 mph. I tried another brand on my chevy and I regret it.
Cool video 👍
I just picked up a 93 grand wagoneer zj.
5.2
146xxx
I'm super excited about it.
That's awesome you will enjoy it. Mine has been the most fun per dollar project for me
I did a very similar spacer for the front shocks. On the rear shocks I welded some 3/16" plate above the axle shock mounts with new holes 2" higher. I'm using just 2" spacers for 31" tires. I also put on some 2" plastic bump stop spacers on the front and welded in some 2" bump stop spacers on the rear because I didn't want to ruin the shocks if it compressed too much. I love the way my ZJ handles off road. Now if only the gas mileage was better! I have the 5.2, would have preferred a 4.0 but we can't be too choosey when searching for craigslist bargains.
I think I spent less than $5 for the front shock spacers lol. I took it out last weekend and so far they are holding up just fine and I wheeled it hard.
This is what I'm thinking! Make my own spring blocks out of sch80 pipe & 1/4" pl in between
Hey you made it work bro the hell with anyone that gets in it lol. Iam in the same boat kinda. The video was very helpful👍
That's great. It sucked but it worked and it's so cheap it's hard to be mad lol
Awesome build. 👌
2x6 tubing is great for rock sliders. Sticks out enough for a little bit of a side step and can tie in to an external cage.
That's what I'm thinking. Debating between 1/8 3/16 or 1/4 thick I think 1/8th would only hold up so well but 1/4 is fairly heavy
@@thomasbeyer id go 3/16 it's in-between both so it'll be a perfect middle ground.
I got a 3 inch puck lift in the front of my wj and stock height in the back I’m getting some 35 nitro mud grapplers this weekend
I had 2 sets of puck spacers and one fit great the other I had to grind out. Glad I bought poly ones
Yeah it was a pain grinding these out whatever alloy they use is a fairly hard aluminum. But they finally got a zj in my local Pick-A-Part so hopefully I can rob the front springs for the rear this weekend!
i realize I'm pretty off topic but does anybody know of a good site to stream new movies online ?
@Cruz Krew Flixportal :P
@Baker Cain thank you, I went there and it seems like a nice service :D Appreciate it !
@Cruz Krew happy to help =)
I have a WJ grand cherokee will moving the front springs to the back do the same thing.
Wj rear lower control arms are a bit longer for the rear lower, and they are built way better, you have to grind the width a bit for the bushings but they are cheap and put your tire a bit farther away from the body
Ya mine set up this way and you cant really go trailing without tires hitting the body im going 6" all spring no spacer and with 31s
Nice dude. So im pickin up another 4.0 ill keep the 5.2 as my daily or just drive my Toyota matrix for the mpg. But im doin the same supercharged build you did. What supercharger did you use.
The Ford m90 off of a supercoupe
I'm taking it first first test drive with 33's now and it's still got plenty of power with no gear ratio change
If you take stock coils and put them in the rear it will lift the rear 3 inches and anything more than a 3 inch lift out gonna want front and rear adjustable track bars and probably buy or build longer control arms
Went to my local yard today and no zjs to rob springs out of I really should have checked first
@@thomasbeyer on the west coast they’re everywhere I picked my zj up for 400 bucks with 180k miles lol me and all my buddy’s have zj or xjs
You definitely did better than me lol. I paid 800 for 323000 miles. But when I bought it we were going wheeling the next day so I just had to have something.
Great video Thomas!
I have the same ZJ with 31s and a 3 inch lift (springs) and I would like to get 33s on it... Will it be a good idea to install an extra 1 inch or 0.75 inch coil spacers on it? I never go off road by the way and I'm never flexing.
Please let me know..
Turn your wheels all the way to the left and right and check your clearances the more spacer the more scrub radius you will have. The more scrub radius you have the further the wheel center moves forward and rearward during turning so if you're clearing now and it's close it may not clear with wheel spacers.
GREETINGS FROM GUATEMALA
Greetings
So my jeep is on 3 inch body lift on 265s but I wanna do 33s but I don’t wanna spend 700$ or more on a bigger lift
Where can I get in contact with you? I have a couple questions for my zj build
Swapping my 245/75/ 18 to 295/75 18 need 3 in spacers. 3.0 turbo diesel 08 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited
Hello bro! I m from Brazil. can you give me some tips on putting 4-inch spring heels on my zj v8 5.2? In Brazil, we don't have many resources and access to parts like you, jeeps are seen with fear by mechanics and off road customizers, there are many myths... can I ride with 4 inches without changing the suspension arms for a while?
I would stop at 3 inch with stock arms. Mine doesn't have that much droop before it binds up on the stock arms.
Just put 2 inch pucks on my zj and didnt realize how much of a difference 3 inch is or I would've went with that I didnt have to do anythung with the front shocks they fit fine
May want to check your droop if you using it to go wheeling the shocks will limit the down travel. That being said IV still got the stock shocks and mine does fine off-road but may be better with longer ones.
Where did u get the supercharger? Is it custom fit or do they sell stright 6 jeep superchargers?
It's off of a thunderbird supercoupe. Custom fit. I built all of it on this channel.
BTW , I subscribed and liked...
Thank you
I got the exact same lift and had the same problem it sucks I wouldn't do it again lol I had to make them fit all the way around
Yeah it worked but I too would not do it again lol
Same
Why not 32” tires? Good luck buddy.
If I do a 4.5 inch lift kit what size tires do you think would be best
33s unless your going to be upgrading axles. They offer a little forgiveness and more clearance over 35s
Hey! when did you install the compressor, what did you do with the fuel? you need it more!
Check out the other videos I documented the entire build.

Good morning, Thomas. Could you answer a few questions please. Mine is 95 JGC laredo, 6 cyl. Stock. You know I have been watching your vids for a bit trying to save and decide what to do. Now, Im starting to buy. No friends to help. On me to do. Super budget, just like you did here. I am going budget pucks since I am out of pocket as well. I found some steel 3 inch pucks on amazon that claim actual 3 inches. You know the ones. You said the aluminum ones you got are garbage. I thought doing a bastard lift moving front springs to back but, the pucks will do for now. Im not doing this for wheeling as much as overland off road clearance for forest obscacles I may encounter. Before I order them, I wondered your opinion. I will being going with the same size km3 as you did with stock 7 inch wide 15" aluminum wheels like your stock ones in this video. I am trying to find some budget shocks but wondered in your research, is there any shocks from rock auto, that you would recommend for a from stock to 3 inch puck that would give road and light overland camping prowess.thanks for any recomendations.
I haven't crossed that bridge yet iv still just got my cheap shock extensions up front and my modified Dakota shocks in the rear. But I think when I go to a 4.5" lift I will get the rubicon express lift shocks.
@@thomasbeyer Would you be opposed to me getting hold of you and chatting about your Jeep build off RUclips?
I don't do phone calls but if you have Facebook mine is under the same name with a red Dodge ram as my profile pic
I've got 3inch pucks on mine and I'm using the hard rubber ones they went on nice and easy with some antiseize lol but also if I may suggest freedom offroad on ebay sells 3" lift shocks for the zj and I'm running them there nice so far lol and for control arms the rear lower control arm in the front and some jeep jk wrangler rear upper stock for the rear lower zj also. The stock spring insulators are supposed to come off lol
I'm a budget kinda person lol fuck doing things right fab it up or find it her comparable stock parts 😂
I hammered on that front spacer I figured the isolator might help with some noise and stuff but I couldn't use it at all on the back but so far it's fine
Yeah I hate spending all that money just to buy a name especially when I have a welder and can I can make it myself
So... U get v-8 springs front&rear... Do U still need spacers???
U would need V8 front springs for the rear and lift springs or spacers for the front. Iv just got the spacers right now
No entiendo esos numeros de llantas 33 y otros numeros que mencionan ayi.
Le puse a mi zj un juego de llantas 315/70/r16
Cuánto lo levantaste?
What did you use for the shock extensions?
3/8 coupling nuts from tractor supply
@@thomasbeyer thanks man
question what supercharget are you using and from what car
Eaton m90 off of a thunderbird supercoupe
@@thomasbeyer by any chance you have a video on how to do it
The whole build is on my channel
Can you super charge a 5.2? Not alot of room in there
With enough creativity you can supercharge anything. But it would be tight and would need a much larger blower than a m90.
@@thomasbeyer put some washers on the cowl side hood mounts and make your own cowl hood. 👍
Wtf you flipped the camera and we look very similar 😮
Doppelgangers are real lol
Sometimes you gotta improvise right...
Always
Time for AOP lol
AOP?
Aetna off-road park. Brain fart
@@thomasbeyer yeah but no adventure off-road park it’s not far from our area
Yeah I see that. How rough is it can my turd get around?
