I can confirm, he came to my house demanding that i sell it to him. he then mentioned he was gonna be buying all 117 million units that we're released. absolutely nuts!
The entire lifespan of the PS4 before the PS5 came out, I never even thought about upgrading to the PS4 Pro. I kept using my launch PS4 with its loud ass jet engine fans haha. But it was still working good enough.
I waited until the Slim with 1TB for $200, no problems with it at all. Now in a home with a base PS4, twice it's randomly lost its OS and I had to download to a USB to boot
I sold my PS4, but kept a controller. I use the controller to play driving games when I don't feel like pulling out the wheel.. Which is about 90% of the time..
His veins are huge in all his videos for the past couple months I wanna know why I dont think they were like that years ago, at least I didnt notice. They make me uncomfy
Yeah Sony went to greedy there trying to push their propriety MicroStick tech and they ended up killing their handheld with it although they were other reasons that probably would have made Sony cut back from it even if it sold better.
That was part of it, but it never had any system sellers, just like the PSP. Sony didn't want to cannibalize the PS3 and PS4 userbase, and devs just followed. PSP and Vita basically only have weaboo dating sims in their libraries.
I really feel like this is a weird way to twist the PS3 to PS4 scenario. The PS3 was a phenomenal system with a price that easily would have come down if people bought it. The problem for the PS3 was the games other companies were making were just so much easier to develop on the Xbox 360. Games that ran flawlessly on the PS3 or made only for the PS3 showed the console was much better than it appeared. So, in a hypothetical where the PS3 sold very well, the Xbox 360 wasn't able to reach par with the PS3 so developers had to put in the work to make the games, and the Move and Vita sold the way they should have, imagine what the PS4 would have been, riding off of such incredible success.
I agree, the PS3 gets hate because people with 360s didn't understand it. It was the cheapest blue ray player on the market at the time on top of being a fantastic game console. My biggest theory is that the 360 has the reputation it has because people's parents didn't want to shell out the money for it, so they bought their kids a cheap 360 arcade instead
Ask anyone thats a developer or close to them and the vast majority do not miss the incredibly complicated CELL, split memory or wimpy GPU. Don't get me wrong, I love the PS3, but it is what it is.
@TKIvanov but if you read my scenario it's based on not having a 360 capable of balancing it out. If it was all they had for higher quality games, it would still suck to develop for but it would have birthed a much better gen
I bought my ps4 with my college book money. Found the books on pdf online for free so why not buy a ps4. I got it from a Walmart that randomly got some in and no one knew it yet. I drove 15 min on my break from my movie theater job through the snow to go buy it and made it back before my break ended and before the movies got out my coworker covered for me and encouraged me to do it. It was fun times. Then ps4 pro I just traded my ps4 for it at Best Buy and paid the difference.

I personally LOVED the PS3. I made more friend on there and LOVE PS Home and pretty much STOPPED using PlayStation after they said they was going to bring it to PS4, then pretty much dropped it and never commented on it again.
Don't forget to mention that not once not twice but three times our credit debit card info was leaked from Playstation servers and Sony didn't tell us for weeks.
So, I grew up with PC gaming during the 90s/early 2000s. Owned 2 consoles during that time: PS1 and GameBoy Colour, and those perhaps had even more playtime than PC. Since then, no consoles except a brief period with the PS3 and PSP, due to hackability (which was interesting) but quickly sold after 3 months due to non-use. For myself I cannot justify owning a console anymore.
After the PS3 taught Sony that their only option was to copy xbox hardware, they went to AMD and said give me what you're giving xbox only faster, and this was their greatest success and set the blueprint going forward... When the xbox360 went with cutting edge pc graphics from AMD all those years ago, they created the greatest leap in console graphics that will ever be, and established the standard for all future consoles, this one especially...
It’s not about hardware it’s about the games gamers wants just good games to play I personally will trade any 120fps console for 30-60fps with good games and I think most of the gamers will. That’s what sell the more what to do with the most powerful console when there is no good games
They did not just sell off their Manhattan HQ and fire a bunch of people to save Sony after deciding to go all in on the PS. They closed and sold off a fair chunk of their Music movie-making sectors. All of their PC studios Inc, SOE were closed and sold off in bits. A few of their PS studios even had to be sacrificed. The hardware and mobile sector did see cuts too after Mobile sales had gone down 90% since 2007. Betting everything on PS4. Tho... To be fair, the Xbox One E3 show helped a fair bit too, and should be credited
They love talking about losing money when it launched but I want to know how and when it became profitable no way they sold 100 million consoles and lost 200$ on every one they’d be out of business.
"Saved PlayStation" In every generation, except for one. The PlayStation has been the best seller of that generation. The lone exception was the PS3, which by the end of that gen was in 2nd Place. Sony has dominated the game industry since it came to market in 1994. The one time they didn't it was due to the general appeal of the Wii. And even the Xbox 360, Xbox's most popular system and the best one they made was in 3rd Place that gen. That just tells you how crazy that generation was.
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the Dualshock 4 like a lot of people are. It was nice that it was re-chargable but man did that battery drain fast. And a nitpick of mine is the controller being too light for my liking. I do remember the shift to PlayStation at the time. Many people I knew who were Xbox 360 players shifted to the PS4 at the time.
I think Don Mattingly's (sp?) speech where he says (not direct quote) "If you want a console that's not online, get an XBOX 360." pretty much ended him. He's pretty much telling people not to buy their newest, greatest product. Massive fail on his part. Austin didn't mention it, so just wanted to make it a part of the conversation...pretty much a terrible speech.
Yeah Microsoft's original Xbox was a compacted pc in a case. Sony just copied that after the PS3 losses. They just implemented it better for the PS4 Xbox one generation, lucky for Sony!
7:31 no way in history of both console there was ever a time where I thought Xbox controller was better than playstation.. Xbox controller since the beginning of time had wobbly analog sticks and playstation controllers had always been more dominant becuz they offered more precision
I still have a base PS4 (Uncharted 4 edition). The controller already failed on me but the console itself is going strong (even though it's been sounding like a jet engine lately). I still play on it on a regular basis, in fact I used it a lot more than my PS5 in the past few weeks (been replaying Bloodborne and Dark Souls with it). Really a great console despite its age and is probably my 2nd favorite Playstation console just behind the PS1
Ps4 controller might be better designed, but holy shit did they break fast. I probably went through 20+ controllers on the ps4, but i had my original ps3 controller until the end
PS4 pro was one of my favorite consoles and I've been playing consoles since the Atari 2600. They just had so many good exclusive games, and the games actually looked decent and ran at good frame rates (unlike the ps5). 4:39 lol, no it wasn't a good pc in a box, both the xbox and ps4 had garbage hardware, the pro models took them to where they should have been at launch, and no the cpu WASN'T better than the xbox, wtf you smoking? 17:43 - wtf man, the pro was a HUGE leap in performance, thumbs down on this video due to all this bs you're spouting.
Sony during the beginning of the PS4 era was over a trillion dollars in debt and was sinking. If Xbox didn't alienate their base, then there's a chance Sony would no longer be around and Microsoft would likely have been the absolute worst with no competition.
Xbox one x scorpio actually had little bit more success as it came out almost on same time as fortnite that fortnite on xbox one x looked super good. Playstation for pro fan was horrendous it was obnoxiously loud
While I like my PS4 Pro I do find the overall console a bit… boring. It lacks personality, heart… just find it to be one of the most standard, by the numbers of what to expect from a modern gaming console. My favourite aspect of the PS4 is PSVR. Other than that the PS4 is a very safe console, it doesn’t really do anything different or special, it just does what a modern games console should do.
