I've been trying to figure out why I find Emmy's videos so soothing and calming to watch whenever I feel an anxiety attack coming, and it's because she gives off such a 'Mom Vibe'! mystery solved.
Hi Em, I got into one of my cravings today and ate waay too much citrus. We live in NEW ORLEANS and grow sweer kumquats, blood oranges, ruby grapefruit, satsumas, key limes and lemons. The sweet kumquats we grow are SUPER SWEET includingthe skin. I usually use them for sweet jelly with ghost peppers. The heat and sweet are great together.
She does make an error when she says that the Citron's skin is sweet, not like the skin of a kumquat which is sour.Kumquats have a sweet skin,at least every single one I have ever eaten.
I want a kumquat tree so much! You r so lucky your marmalade Made from kumquat sounds so interesting and tasty. I live in Canada and plan to purchase some kumquat in California. Apparently they can be grown in containers indoors.
@@josephdrach2276 The only kumquats I've ever had have basically tasted like orange peel all the way through. Not sweet and not sour, basically plain and a bitter bitter, even a tiny bit astringent.
I was thinking that the syrup might be nice if you were to dilute it a bit and use it in place of simple syrup on a pound cake. Mmmm a nice yogurt poundcake flavored with that yummy citrus taste.... ooh, I just made myself hungry. lol
Amitabha Buddha gave Guan yin (a Bodhisattva) a thousand arms & eyes to help him out. Bodhisattvas are still tied to the earthly realm due to their vows to forgo complete enlightenment to help people. Guan yin is depicted as female, but many times he is androgynous and can take many forms from young to old, female to male.
Next year, in September, look into getting a etrog. They are a citron that is native to Israel and can likely be procured from your local Jewish community. But only at the holiday of Sukkot. I'm bummed I didn't make anything with the last etrog I had, the smell is absolutely amazing!
I've been telling myself to make candied citrus rind for years. I'm gonna have to try it out this weekend. I hope my Whole Foods has some of those Buddha Hand critters, but regular oranges and lemons will do fine. I love citrus! 🍊🍋
This channel just has such a pleasing reaction on all my senses? Even down to the SOUNDS of things being made and poured, idk hkw she made a living BEING ASMR but shes done it
I've been eating candied citron during the holidays since I was a little kid. I'm a quarter German, and we have an old family recipe called stollen (pronounced SHTUL-len) that uses candied citron, among other fruits and chopped nuts. It's a traditional German Christmas bread topped with powdered sugar. It isn't at all cake like, it's more of a sweet bread. Think raisin bread, in terms of consistency. It's delicious! I'll be visiting my mother this Tuesday, to fix some for the family to enjoy on Christmas Eve. Happy holidays, everybody!
I saw one years ago in the store, but never again, until yesterday! I remembered seeing this video. It's boiling away on my stove right now, and smells lovely! ❤
I LOVE YOU! You're so cheerful and positive. And even though your videos make me very hungry, I get some cultural education, and it's fun to watch! Thank you :)
Wow that is fabulous. I looove lemon zest & never feel a lemon has quite enough skin. 'Hands' down, this is an awesome option for obtaining all the zest I could ever want & I would then turn all of the pith into those yummy looking gum drops!
Yeah, so glad the fruity fruits song is back. My mom has a tree that grows Buddha hands, I am glad to now know what the heck to do with them. Thanks for another great video.
You should try Loquat... I think i might come from Asia originally but loquat trees grew like weeds where I grew up in New Zealand. Or you could try Breadfruit... similar to jackfruit but more savoury, quite commonly grown in polynesia. Love these exotic fruit episodes!
Emmy!! Please try out lazy 2 ingredients moist choco cake. The ingredients are, 2 packs of 154 g of oreo and 200ml of chocolate milk. Blend them until smoothed, put it in a baking pan, and steam until cooked (use fork to check if its still sticky or not) you can eat the cake by itself or you can make a chocolate ganaché for the toppings. Pls, like this comment so that emmy can see it!! 😍

I've used it as an addition to salt, I've made tea with it, boiled pasta with the water after pieces were boiled in it. I've been looking for some for the past two years and I haven't found any but I really want to make ice cream and a lot of other things with it
Hi Emmy! I think I might try this for a Citron pie in place of lemons! Im sure it would be delish topped with whipped cream in place of the usual meringue! Something slightly sweeter to balance the slight bitterness. Love your channel!
Rae Higgins I do every time lol. Have to. Even if it takes a minute, I wait lol. So weird. I tell myself i won't but then, its like, my curiosity won't allow me. It makes me want to see, what now can she come up with.....lol
I was thinking along those lines, sort of. Citron flavoring, get a good quality clean vodka, chop the citron fine, maybe with a food processor. Pack into a jar, cover with vodka. Let it soak a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, freeze the rest of the chopped citron in jar-size batches so it doesn't go bad. When you finish soaking the first batch, pour the alcohol off into a second jar of citron. Add a little more vodka to top off, you'll lose a little with each soak. If you start with several citrons, you can keep pouring over to a new batch for awhile, your extract getting stronger each time. You can then use the flavoring in whatever you want. Cakes, pudding, ice cream, syrup, frosting, sauces for chicken or seafood, mixed drinks, sodas...
Riverside, you went to my hometown! Lots of citrus there, my mom used to get this when I was a kid and make it each year for her fruitcake baking, brings back some great memories!
Oh, I remember trying Buddha's Hand when I went to the Riverside Moon Viewing Festival in Riverside Ca. They were giving out samples of different kinds of citrus. That syrup would be great in tea.
That's a good idea. I also thought of putting it on pancakes.
Nope on the pancakes...YES on the tea
Chef John: Don't forget you are in charge, you are the man of your Buddha Hand......lol. Sorry Chef would have rhymed better. LOL
🤗
You are the Chef John of your candied citron?
You're in command of your buddha hand?
You are really good at describing flavors and texture! I tasted a Buddhas hand without ever do it thanks to you! Love from Sweden!!!
Down here near the border we drink our tea sweet with lemon. The lemon is eaten when your tea is gone. Rind and all. It's so delicious.
Tawnya Luke wtf are you talking about LOL 😂
You don't mean Texas do you? Because no one in the south eats the rind of the lemon in sweet tea normally...
