In this video, Dr. Berg talks about salad dressing and the challenges of finding a good one. You want to avoid soy oils, corn oil, canola oil, and cottonseed oil. I also want a dressing with the least sugar possible. The other point is the taste, as many dressings have too much water and not enough oil. You also want to balance your omega-6 oils with omega-3 oils.
Safflower, sunflower, and of course soy and corn are all omega 6, which are inflammatory. So you want to also balance it out with fish oils - cod liver is the best.

Make it yourself; homemade is always best! My go-to recipe which I consume over my daily salad contains two tablespoons of organic extra virgin olive oil, one tablespoon raw organic apple cider vinegar, onion and garlic powder to taste, a few turns of freshly cracked black pepper and sea salt, four drops of liquid stevia and a heaping spoonful of stone ground mustard. Freakin delicious. Try it out!!

I've been following your diet advice for about 5 weeks. I've lost 20 pounds, which is plenty for me. I'm a bodybuilder and was looking for a way to lean out. But the other benefits have been astounding. Mentally I feel better than I have in years. I have more energy and mental focus than I would have thought possible. Thanks so much.

I've learned to eat food that's good for me...Not to eat food because it "tastes" good.
After 6 months of eating 80/10/10 diet... primarily vegetables, some cage free egg, grass fed butter, kefir, etc; I tried eating "normal" food...and it "tasted" like crap to me...And made me feel like crap too...You are what you eat! 😀

The bragg's that you showed are great. You ditched them because they have no oil, yet they have great flavor and good ingredients. Just mix it with your own preferred oil. I mix them with olive oil, avocado oil, or hemp oil. Healthy quality products are all to rare. If it has good ingredients but not enough flavor for your taste, just add some of your own spices to it. We should be doing everything we can to help support companies that are trying to make healthy products. Lord knows they could use all the help they can get. My biggest beef is with cereals that use good ingredients, then they ruin it with added sugars. They would greatly increase their sales if they just left out the sugars. People are supposed to be smart enough to add their own preferred sweetener to taste. Just my two cents:)

I use a bit of oregano and basil with some S & P and a squeeze of lemon. Give it a shot. Ive used something very similar as a marinade too(with a couple of extra ingredients) and everyone Ive cooked steaks for is blown away. Its a little secret i perfected just this last year.

The key is to make your on vinegar. I make grape vinegar. Using wine grapes and concord, also with added black raspberries. Pure juice is what you want after you fermented the fruit for two weeks, stirring every day. Just like making wine. No yeast added. You use the yeast on the fruit. Place juice in a jar about 3/4 full and cover with a coffee filter. Don’t forget to add some brags apple vinegar to the jar. Let sit for 6 months. I add some Cain sugar to the juice, this help it ferment. Make plenty. Because your going to need it. It gos faster then you think vinegar can be used. The dressing= I use a old dressing jar with lid. 1/4 vinegar 1/4 water 1/4 oil of choice 1 table spoon of honey. Shake before use, Give or take to your taste. The honey really helps it stick to the salad. I made it without honey and it was good too.

2 cups full fat plain yogurt

    1 tsp Spike seasoning
    2 tsp tamari
1/2 tsp Frontier garlic powder ( the best )
    1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

There's been so much debate on GMO and non GMO and whether or not it even matters. To me if it's not organic then it's been covered in pesticides, Non-GMO or not. My question is why so concerned over GMO's and little concern is shown about organic? I am very open minded and will appreciate the assistance in figureing this out.

Try coating dark greens with a light coating of a healthy oil such as avocado oil and then a light sprinkle of salt and pepper to taste. Then squeeze a little juice out of the tomatoes before adding them and also a little juice from a lime. Add everything else you want in the salad and then drizzle on the tomato and fresh squeezed lime juice juices. The taste is wonderful.
I like adding grated lemon zest, minced shallots and garlic for taste as well as nutrition. Onions and garlic can be strong when raw and tossing a little on a big salad dilutes the burn without cooking them.

My favorite flavor in a salad is tomatoes; I like the smell of them; the taste of them; so, I make tomato dressing in the moment; I cut tomatoes up and let the juice run all over the salad; sometimes, I'll use the juice of jalapenos, etc. I just use the juice of the veggie mother nature helps me grow; I also add a little flax seed oil with pepper; this is so filling Top all of this with pepper.
    No leftovers to store.

Forget store bought! It is IMPOSSIBLE to find a sugar free and soy free salad dressing in the store. I make my own and absolutely LOVE IT!
    Sweet, Tangy, and Tart!
350 ml Luana Liquid Coconut Oil
400 ml to 450 ml Apple Cider Vinegar
    3 - full TBS Mustard (Yellow and/or Dijon) I combine 1 TBS yellow + 2 TBS Dijon
(yellow mustard gives an extra kick! Dijon gives less kick but great flavor)
1 .5 - TBS Just Like Sugar (can use Splenda instead)
1 - TSP Smokey Mountain Sweetener (supercharges Splenda or Just-Like-Sugar)
½ - TSP Pink Salt (regular salt will do)
    1 - TSP Garlic Powder
    1.5 - TSP Onion Powder
    1/8 - TSP Smoke Paprika
    3 - TSP Lemon Pepper
    ¼ - TSP Dill Weed
1 - TSP dried Basil (optional since the Italian seasoning already has some in it)
1 - TSP Italian Seasoning (McCormick Classic Herbs)
    1/8 - TSP Black Pepper
All fits into a quart container!
I like using the empty 32 oz Luana Liquid Coconut Oil containers

Lots of comments about people making their own dressings:
Fine if you are on a tight budget. Do what you gotta do to make healthy choices and survive.
But if out of choice, or if you think it's cool - bad idea. Chances are (no offense - I suck as a chef so no judgment) your crummy home made dressing will affect how much you consume and how enjoyable it is and your likelihood to maintain a healthy diet over decades, as opposed to just months.
So, if pinching pennies, do it up. But, if it is choice, shelf your likely awful home made recipes and buy yourself some Annie's, Primal Kitches, Newman's or whatever - these brands put weeks, months into devising recipes. They are good for a reason.
    Healthy Travels 😁

A great ranch dressing is cream cheese, sour cream and the dry hidden ranch salad mix to pour into it and then stir it up

Annie's Organic Goddess Dressing is my all time favorite. Good on salads, pasta, anything. Sometimes, I'll open a can of organic black beans and drench it in Annie's. Admittedly, if you have cooking skill, this recipe will be nauseating. But works for a non-chef type. Also - agree 100% on Bragg's. Got their apple cider vinegar but they do not make good dressing.

Tessamae dressing is excellent! Their ranch and Ceasar is so good. Lots of oil. When I can't find it I just do Lemon and oil.

Three parts oil to one part vinegar (can use lemon juice to replace some of the vinegar if you like), add some spices and herbs, and boom! Amazing homemae salad dressing in about three to five minutes. Maybe add a touch of dijon mustard for a change if you desire. =] And of course, use olive oil, avocado oil, maybe macadamia nut oil if you can find it...
Easy peasy. Better than ANY of the options and brands he discusses in the video.

Hi this is a humble request to know why is GMO containing food is avoided at all costs. So far I never considered about its side effects but now I would like to know why people like DR. Berg suggests otherwise.
