That has not been my experience. Some T2D's can develop antibodies to pancreas over time and become what is sometimes called Type 1.5. Sometimes the pancreas can just wear out from overwork and malnutrition, but fortunately the pancreas is rarely the problem in T2D in my experience. Sometimes people say stupid things like "The pancreas is not making enough insulin to keep blood sugar down", and they are assuming that there is pancreatic dysfunction, but the insulin is only insufficient because of massive IR and tons of carbs.

By speaking slowly and clearly, and using figurative language effectively here, you are able to simplify this topic. Your method aids not only in the understanding of insulin resistance, but also in remembering the details of what is actually going on between the cells and insulin. I will always remember the frustrated cells and the annoying salesman!!

I am 30 year old guy.. I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in Dec 2022.. when the first time I got tested my A1C was 11.5.. I was put on Metformin first 2 months and then on Janumet 1000 mg daily dose, three months later my A1C is 5.9!!! This is due to combination of exercise (only walking 20 mins avg daily), healthy diet (watching my Carbs intake), more fibers and green veggies. My point is.. if we know the mechanism behind these diseases, which is lucidly and interestingly explained by Dr. Sten(thanks to him), helps control your blood sugar and keep things in check.. My goal is to get off medication and to be able to balance demand and supply of blood sugar and the insulin... cheers!!!!

Never a doctor has made it so simple for me to understand what diabetic is and how it works. Thank you so much for this video. I am a diabetic for 21+ years and have to use Metformine and insuline. Afther a year of eating vegetarian, i did not lose weight and did not gain any weight, but i had to use more and more insuline... 18 months ago i started to eat meat again and surprizingly i loosed weight... 13 kilo's in 5 months and then it stopt. Slowly i have loosed 5 more kilo's in the last year, so now i found the Keto way of eating and hope to lose weight again, in the first place to get and stay healthy so i get rid of the diabetes and all the medication i must use.

I'm a retired RN. I was diagnosed with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy(MMD) 7 years ago. MMD causes severe insulin resistance. My doctors just want me to take insulin or some other super expensive drugs. Finally I stopped the insulin and glimepiride. Now I only take 2 grams of Metformin and Invokana. My last A1C was 8.1, down from 11. I've started Keto with IF and trying for OMAD with occasional 2-3 day fasts. My blood sugar is now pretty much normal. My highest postprandial(after eating) blood sugar has been 137. My fasting blood sugar has varied between 63 and 108. I thought Keto and IF were just a fad, but they have really worked for me. I worked in surgery my entire career, so diabetes was not an area of specialty for me. You have confirmed many of the ideas I've had about my "diabetes" for quite some time. Thank you so much for your videos. They have been very helpful.

You provide a great deal of information in a very easy-to-understand manner. Can you please talk about the effects COFFEE w/ people who are very IR. All articles on coffee says in decreases appetite but I'm very IR and have been doing IF 18/6 w/ Keto for 5 months and I drink black coffee in the morning it increases my appetite. I can only have coffee w/ a fat added once I start my meal or II'm just brutally hungry and "hangry". Please explain why that is happening. There are no videos on that subject.

This is a wonderful description on how Insulin Resistence works. Gosh why can't our doctors do this instead of presribing $$$ drugs, also why are so many people totally accepting their diabetes 2 and not run to the library to start learning... I went to Costco the other day and one big lane of parking was dedicated tohandicapped parking. Used to be elderly frail people now you see most people parking there extremely obese then usung the handicapped shopping carts that the store also has many of, at 10 that I counted. If it wasn't for ACV I wouldn't have had my one and only child at 44. It was an essential part of my child's fathers healing and reversing his pre-diabetes. We both stopped in the same aisle of the supermarket to look for it. The rest as they say was history lol. Thank you for the wonderful explanation. After healing adrenal and thyroid issues, I have some metabolic damage to work on, being too exhausted to eat and bouncing from feast to famine continuously I am almost positive has lowered my BMR to well below what I can estimate online. I also have some cellular detoxing to do, I am sure. I'm seven weeks into a Ketogenic diet as well as other protocols such as infrared sauna, coffee enemas, and a number of fasting protocols from IF, to ADF to extended fasts. I know I have to be patient but it is so frustrating to work so hard and have it take sooooooo long to see so little obvious improvement. I have to remind myself daily the healing is structural and just because I can't see it doesn't mean it isn't happening. I know I'm doing everything right. ACV is definitely part of my daily routine and I love it. Thanks again, great video.

Tremendously brilliant analogy. I find Dr. Ekberg's videos very interesting and educative. The thing really is that for me, sugar is just like water. Having to stop using sugar has taken a severe toll on me. Tea, coffee, snacks, ... But for the one reason that this prediabetes can degenerate into kidney problems, I had never imagined myself quitting sugar or even cutting down on the amount I consume daily. I have adopted exercises, & I have reduced the amount of sugar I use by a lot and it's working. I think I'll try ACV to knock the IR once and for all. Well done!

On the flip side I’ve had some great positives like joint pain completely disappeared, but anyway I’d love something for the beginners that maybe goes through the challenges and what to do when the negative things pop up. Thank you for listening 🙏👏🏼

You need electrolytes. Your body's flushing out a lot of inflammation (swelling / liquids) and you're getting dehydrated. Use more salt in your food. You may not be fat-burning adapted yet and you're Hungry (hunger always interferes with my sleep). Don't give up just yet. & make sure you're doing it right, no hidden carbs preventing the adaptation. I like Health Coach Kait. She has nice short videos that give all the Important points on keto. Dr Sten is great, but sometimes it's too much info for us to absorb all at once and we can miss the Main Points. Sometimes when you drink too much liquids, they "dilute" the electrolytes in your system, and you urinate too much and make dehydration worse. So get those electrolytes, and not the drinks that have sugar added. Refined carbs/high blood sugars make us retain a lot of water, you're now doing the opposite getting into ketosis. I think that's the main reason why I lost so much weight so fast on keto. Maybe everyone is like that.

Dr ekberg chromium is necessary for the pancreas to produce insulin! It is also necessary for the insulin to get the glucose into the cell! The daily recommended dose does not take into account how much in the system. Needs to be adequate amount in the system! Chromium is the key to insulin getting glucose in the cell! The key to counter resistance!

I really enjoy your explanations in all of your videos that makes so much sense to the lay person! Just the other day my cardiologist said that insulin resistance doesn't stop a person from losing weight and that it is all about calories and movement in a sharp tone. I have just recently start ACV and will see how that works with my pretty strict keto plan. My primary PA mentioned Berberine a few months back because my A1C is still at 5.6-7 and doesnt seem to budge. I have not been diagnosed by anyone that I am diabetic but in research agree that I am definitely pre-diabetic/insulin resistant. I am only 55 and its been extremely hard to lose any weight for years. What do you say about Berberine in helping insulin resistance?

When insulin is down ketones goes up.
If you eat only twice a day no snacks low carbs food within 6 hours then fast
16 hours, you will deacrease you insulin resistance.
Follow you ketones level, the higher they go up the less resistant you are
      the more weight you lose.

Dr Ekberg, can you talk about what to do when you have many things wrong with you and you want to fix them but you don't know what to fix first? For example, you have hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's autoimmune disease, non-alcoholic liver disease, non-allergic rhinitis, insulin resistance, suspected leptin resistance, elevated cortisol caused by a highly stressful job, high blood pressure e.g., in the 140/90 range, maybe gut issues thrown in there as well. I stopped taking my drugs and fasted for 24 hours and exercised and kept an eye on my blood sugar and have stayed off my drugs by not eating after 6pm and next meal lunch of zero carbs omelette with fried chopped cabbage. Supper meat with raw vegetables. Still no drugs. I understand that boiled potatoes potatoes with ACV can lower their glycemic value haven’t tried it yet. But this fasting 16hrs and only eating lunch and supper no carbs is working.

Question: Can the opposite happen? If we eat zero sugar or sweeteners, do a strict healthy keto diet of whole foods with zero simple carbs or processed foods, and very, very low carb except what's in the keto-friendly fresh vegetables or berries:
    1) How long will it take to recover insulin sensitivity? and
    2) Can we get insulin deficiency? If so, what would be the result or dangers of that?
What is the "sweet" point of sugar/carb intake to keep organs and hormones in balance and normal insulin production?
I agree with other comments: God bless you for your clear speech, pace, and detailed explanations.i

This is what I have been taught and I can see why fruit based vinegar is potentially a healthier way to go as opposed to distilled Acetic Acid.
Also, what is the actual mechanism on as to how this works as I have been taught so far that vinegar blocks glucose somehow from entering the bloodstream. Thanks for your great vids
