I'm 61. This band makes me feel like I'm in my twenties. Unfortunately, it's only my imagination, but that's the power of music! One of the greatest bands of the 21st century, and probably the best is yet to come...
I disagree and not complaining I just bought tickets to their next show and they are my favorite band right now. But I do admit I am getting scared with the two new songs. I love the first three albums because it brought me back years when I thought music was a lot better. The albums were grungier and more Rock. I feel like this new album is going to be more pop than the music I fell in love with. But I could be wrong and my fingers are crossed
A charismatic frontman, a band full of musicality , two new songs where their sound has evolved brilliantly, but they haven't lost that punk edge. Makes this f***ed up world a better place.
@@leannecampbell4551sadly this is true. Also the band haven’t lived in Ireland for many years now they are practically Londoners now. Like many many people I miss the old Ireland so much 😢
It annoys me when folk of my age (59) bang on about how music these days is rubbish and they're stuck in the 60s 70s and 80s. Yet there are bands like Fontaines D.C. and many many others making superb original music.
The alternative music of today is actually reminiscent of 80s alternative, and it is every bit as good. I’m your age, but I saw Muse twice recently and they were two of the best shows I’ve ever seen. This song by Fontaines DC is super retro.
@mradhurley heard 4 songs off it and you're saying you're not feeling the same vibes already? I mean who knows and I get what you're saying but...come back in August and we can both be honest 😂
@mradhurley I know, four isn't many and I should've put "looks like 4 classic albums in a row" but still I'm an optimist off the live stuff and singles 😂
these words on this tune makes me thrilled, cry, happy and sad at the same time;: "Favourite is the uncovered fossil of a 50s radio station, it reperesents such happines that makes you uncomfortable, the song that welcomes you through the gates of heaven and theres a melancholy in that when you realise youre no longer living." - Grian Chatten
this feels like watching the beginning of what will be considered a classic band in the future, both singles have been just incredible, this album could be one of the best of the year
Special band. Takes me back to uni 13 years ago. Takes me back to discovering Morrisey, The Cure and The kinks for the first time. Makes me think of love lost. And im the happiest ive been in my life, but their music takes me right back to an era that feels like a previous life these days.
@@ryanheyworth9359 i admit that the statement was a bit hyperbolic. however, this song reminds me of the smiths and new order. this of course does not make it any less original, in fact it is beautiful.
This song takes me back to the times/places when/where unconditional joy wasn't rare or usually unavailable and people weren't so dramatically divided, far and separated from each other. Well done, guys 🖤
Pure Johnny Marr on the guitar there lads... lot of time for this band, maybe because everything they put out feels like a trip down memory lane for someone of my vintage...
I’ve only just got into the fontains dc i only know the songs in the past that have been on the radio but not heard much so i looked them up on Spotify now i absolutely love them
How I love the great evolution you all have developed throughout all of these recent years. Grian Chatten, keep being the great poet you are!Ich liebte es!

What a moment for this band. Evolved beautifully. Favourite may well be their best yet - hard to chose from such a great discography but Favourite feels like an instant classic - perfect riff, lyrics and dynamics, a truly great song, from what may be the best band in the world now. If romance delivers on its promises it will be a decade defining album, in any case they are so worth getting excited about.
song has something nostalgic in it, yet fresh. love it
Yes! That riff, Some Go Betweens there, Feelies, Smiths...a past memory that it seems better than it was. Great music
Yeah! for real though nice mixture
Sounds VERY similar to Kodaline - Brand New Day 😮😮😮
perhaps it’s how similar it sounds to the wedding present?
These singles and their last album sounded very influenced by Madchester and Britpop

62 years old. But if I bop too much I might throw my back.
you are right ! Fontaines DC Will become the pop music référence in the world
Going on 54 and can feel it too...
61 as well last gig was nick cave then black angels this band enthuse you and remind you of why you love music and go to gigs❤
how far have they come man, loved all albums so far but these 2 new songs are something different
right?! Easily my 2 favorite Fontaines songs, I didn't see that coming at all.
jackie down the line still no.1 for me but favourite a very close second
More melodic, which is not bad.
Agreed

Maybe it's because it sounds the same as Kodaline - Brand New Day 😮😮😮
like it's been your favourite for a long time?
@@kerpoiseit really doesn’t though does it, completely different vibes
Because it’s some 90’s stuff copycat . Can’t tell what exactly yet but I’ll recall - got it. It’s a copycat of Pulp stuff. For example Common People.
@@kerpoise Jaysus, don't compare Kodaline to Fontaines
The tone on those guitars are great, got the 80s jangle, what a tune
It’s a Johnny Marr signature Jaguar!
@@Malto_Dextrin He'll be happy he gave it to him too.
drum sound and drummer are on point too. really talented band!
Its exactly the same tempo as The Cure Just Like Heaven I think but sounds more early 90s influenced bands like The Las etc pre Brit Pop era of music.
I’m 66 Saw these guys last week ..felt like the first time I saw the Clash …..really special talented group of guys.

Very well said mate. What a band. I love everything about this band. Music, lyrics, the band members, their look, attitude. Fucking makes me so happy
Well said!
Played this song about 100 times since Friday. What a piece of music
Second that!!! Been on repeat daily

Check out Balu Brigada. Tight 3-piece band that sounds somehow familiar.

I agree.
idk if this is the real KLC but I really love YD :)

It takes some measure of a band to deliver over so much hype. They just keep getting better.
