So, I went to high school with two of the Carpenter sisters, and my senior year, Sabrina performed at one of our showcases (performing arts school). She was 9. Singing "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera. And it was INSANE how talented she was, even at such a young age! Every outfit at Coachella now is just a bunch of ripped out rags layered together, and it could be the vibe if a couple of ppl did it, but it's everybody 3d year in the row now. No one is even doing anything different and interesting. It's just a competition of who can channel the most extreme "y2k" vibes as possible. There's no sense of community or fun anymore. It's just who can wear the most exhausting maximalist outfit while using Coachella to market themselves and their products which is what James did with that cringe video. It's not just Coachella, most events like this aren't about community and having fun together anymore, it's about marketing and business. Capitalism just sucks the life and joy out of everything 😭

Hey Brad! Loved this podcast ep ☺️ I think reacting to the English dub for Spirited Away would be great. English dubs for anime can be a little hit or miss, but I feel like the dubs for Studio Ghibili movies always knock it outta the park.
When she released Houdini I thought the album would be a bit different but the next 2 singles sound similar to the last album. There is zero hype for this album from the general public for it. Its releasing next week and its crickets out here. Cannot wait for Billie album, feel like its gonna be the best album of the year but could also be polarising. I feel like the eras tour has done wonders for Sabrina, so glad the world is now seeing what the rest of us have. Expresso is the best single of this year by far.
I fully agree with your thoughts on Coachella. It has lost its hype and momentum since Covid, and now the whole "influencer" aspect is starting to bother or cringe more that anything else. About artist's physical appearance being linked to how they are perceived as a person, it's just horrifying to see, especially on social media where any negative comment can be made into a generalization. Finally, I'm so sorry about those people who insinuated that you were racist for not listening to a Beyonce album. That's CRAZY I just don't understand because that's right : it's just music! Future Nostalgia was the album that kinda made me love Dua, and I’m quite excited for Radical Optimism to come out next week. I get that 3 singles out already for such a short album can be kind of a turn off, however in my opinion every track so far has been great. I also love the pop vibe of it, it just makes me feel good and puts me in a good mood, and sometimes I think that’s what I need. I love deeper songs and especially Ariana’s and Taylor’s new album, buuuuuut sometimes I just wanna jam out to a feel good pop song and Dua just slays that for me. 🙂↕️ But I 100% get what you’re saying with the sound being similar 🫡

Spirited Away is my #1 favorite film. I was actually listening to this on Spotify and switched over to here just to write this. Lol. The English dubs for the Ghibli films are very well done. I’ve found it can be easier to follow reactions with the dubbed versions. But if you choose to do a Spirited Away video in the original Japanese, that would also be fantastic. 😊
About spirited away, I would definitely say to watch it in Japanese with English subs as with Ghibli, the English dubbing a lot of the times takes away from the movie's natural beauty, would def love to see you react to it either way though. Loving hearing what you have to say in the podcast btw!
I remember wanting to go to coachella sooooo bad in the 2013-2016 era but after that it became kind of goofy to me lmao it’s lost its sparkle. I feel there’s so many better music festivals today, coachella has become so superficial and it’s now just a status symbol in my opinion :(

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on the video for training season - it was not about her wanting to be admired, I think the point of the video was that women can find themselves having all these guys pursuing them and saying a bunch of things that we want to hear and it is often very difficult to sort out who is genuine and who is saying whatever just to keep you around. And that's why she is saying that training season is over, becaue she wants find that one guy who actually cares. Anyway, that's my take!
