    Also I think Felix was a genuinely good person too, even after he discovers Oliver is lying, he doesn't tell Oliver's or his own parents and still wants Oliver to have his birthday party. He also notices how hard Oliver's parents try for him so he makes Oliver stay for the dinner they prepared.

      I feel like you missed a lot if you think Felix is good. Its implied that Felix and his family always bring “the less fortunate” home as a charity case but its actually for their own entertainment. Its made clear with Pamela how they throw them out when they tire of them. He lets the party go on because it would be embarassing to tell everyone that he got lied to. As for the interaction with his parents, Felix was trying to make Oliver sit in the uncomfortable situation as a way to punish him. No one in the movie is a “genuinely good person” imo.

    The breakfast scene after Felix's death is how grief works. You go from bawling your eyes out to everyday tasks back to bawling your eyes out then making funeral plans then watching a tv show, and it all feels so weird.

    • @Panssel
      @Panssel 4 месяца назад +12

      As someone who lost his mom (my most loyal friend) to cancer a month and a half ago and is going through grief I can tell this is totally true. I just can't even think about my mother right now, not the good moments, not the bad ones. I'm just living my life as if she never existed because when I think about her, specially at the silence of the night, I just feel devastated and end up crying for hours.
      The scene is exaggerated, because it is a satire, but the message behind it is true.

    The fact Farleigh got away alive (pretty much the only one), is just so weird and yet so tale telling. Its not that Oliver ever liked him, but he wasn't in Felix's class. He wasn't his prey. And he actually really cared. The family made it pretty clear that just as the mother, Felix used to have a 'project', a toy for entertainment. And that Oliver was just one of them. When Pamela dies, Oliver realizes it the strongest maybe. Whereas Farleigh was actually really passionate about these people. He cared. Or maybe Oliver's means only grew more extreme. The tear he's crying when he kissed the sister in the tub and knows sex won't get him out of it this time, its like he knows what he has to do and yet feels sad about it.

The last shot makes SO much sense to me - the moment when he is utterly, entirely himself - no clothes, no pretensions, shedding his old life like clothes dropping to the floor. Like a 'see, now I'm putting my **** on everything you hold sacred and dear'.

    I stumbled on this channel looking for Saltburn reactions… I started watching the movie a couple weeks ago, but stopped when Olly got to Saltburn and shown his room. I envisioned rich pricks taking advantage of him!
    Thank you Brad, for making the creepiest creepsville movie rather giggly with your commentary. I am now subscribed and can’t wait to watch all your videos! Well done, sir.

    Him dancing at the end was also the reverse of the tour Felix gave him when he first arrived at salt burn. Both ended with him at the puppet box toy thing

    I never understand the ( Farleigh ) hate. He was the only that survived . Farleigh truly clocked what a liar Oliver truly was.

      so farley being classist from the beginning was him clocking how much of a liar oliver was? before oliver began lying? interesting

      Farleigh is a parasite who felt threatened by Oliver’s presence siphoning the family’s resources away from himself. If he did clock Oliver for what he was it would have been due to recognizing himself.

    the fact that brad is wearing a hoodie that says childish on it while he finishes the ollie ollie ollie song in editing is kinda funny because it sounds like those types of silly songs that everyone would sing as kids and i love it

    I freaking love you and completely agree with everything you've said. Everything was there for a reason and quite a few of the gag-worthy moments were actually improvised.
    *balls in your biscuit tin was the best film contribution I've ever heard.

    Balls in your biscuit tin. 😏 Honestly, I was kinda scared of watching this, but it's not as bad as I expected. The "questionable" bits just complete the story, in my opinion, and even if they don't, who am I to say anything. Not the director, creators, producers, actors, or anyone else, for sure. 🤷
