I'm 48 now, and I vaguely remember going through the Horror Cave when I was five. The main thing I remember is a woman in a coffin under glass breathing.... I also remember my dad telling me about me seeing the woman breathing and saying, "Let's get out of here," upon which my mom took me out the front entrance while my dad finished going through the cave. I don't remember specifics of any of the exhibits before the coffin. I'm pretty sure I had nightmares based on this experience for years, although I look back fondly on the weirdness of it. I also remember going back to Six Flags when the Pac Man Play Fort had replaced the Horror Cave and still being on the lookout for something sinister that might have remained on that site. It's such an interesting local history.

This is one of my early memories. I remember that GAPING mouth and scary face like it was yesterday. I was probably 4 or 5 years old, so that would have been 1970 or 71. I was terrified, had to be carried through by my father, and I had my face buried in his shoulder, eyes slammed shut tight the entire way! Thanks for this video.

I honestly could only imagine the fear that was immediately bestowed upon you! Just wow! I truly wish that I was able to see it in person but hearing alot of peoples stories of them have gone through it at the same age as you did is actually quite common lol so you're definitely not alone in that feeling and experience! But thank you for sharing your story and I'm super glad you enjoyed the video! 😎

My heartfelt thanks for providing this. I grew up in south Georgia and our family went to Six Flag every year after it opened. I loved the park and the Horror Cave especially (Due to excitement, I would have trouble going to sleep the night before a trip.) Here are some other details I remember about the attraction, which others might want to confirm or deny:
    - Yes, the eyes in the entrance head lit up and moved
    - The scene with the vampires in the coffin ... As I recall, the fangs would extend on of them, while the eyes would slowly open on the other.
    - You could see the animated shadow of an organ player, though no one was sitting on the stool ... a neat illusion.
    - The sea monster sequence was very slow, and I remember missing it more often than not due to the push to keep moving forward.
    - There was a chained torture victim in a vertical cage, with bloody gashes all over her body, writhing in agony (even I found this scene gruesome at the time)
    - I remember a different music theme in the queue line ... A kind of eerie, repetitious "boomp-boomp, ch-ch-ch-ch-ch" that I can still hear in my head after all these years. Does anyone else remember that?
    Cheers!

I worked at Six Flags in 1977 and went through that cave dozens of times. Those eyes used to light up and shift side to side on the entrance. The opening scene was definitely a cave with stalagmites and bubbling pools which those creatures would rise and sink into. I can clearly remember a parent telling their child, "It's not real. Don't be scared." Meanwhile the child cried all the way through the attraction. Another detail, at the base of the Male coffin there was a mouse hole and a mouse would dart in and out. It was even specially lit. The head cut off scene was indeed a bit gruesome and the guy in the back had a power saw that he swung back and forth while both men laughed maniacally. The electrical sounds of the Frankenstein scene were so loud. The spider bridge did not swing, but it was soft and squishy with a tufted floor. The room was all blacklight with many webs and spiders and the large spider that moved. Such a lot of memories from this attraction. I can't believe you found as much as you did. Thanks for posting this video!

What was the haunted house there that had an area that you would walk up high in a line, and when you looked down, there was a guy chained on to a platform and a giant axe was swinging down from the ceiling back and forth slowly chopping him in half? There were cloaked figures standing around him. Very foreboding! I was wondering if anyone else remembers this at Six Flags Georgia. As I recall it was right across from the monster mansion. 1980s.

I’m 55. My family went to SixFlags over Georgia when I was 3 or 4, so 1970 or 71. This mouth ruined me. I honestly think this is my first memory. I remember my old man carrying me, and walking through the mouth, and then those creepy monsters rising up and down, one went up, the other went down. I can still see them in my mind now! I called the mouth, “Gawkey Mouth” which morphed into the Gawkey Monster. This attraction f’ed me up for years. I applaud you Miguel for this bit of history. You made my month! Now I’m going to share this with my family.

Okay, next please do a video regarding the old House of Gravity.🙃 It was in the Spanish section as well, and resided right next to the Haunted Cave.🤞🏾Thanks for all your posts. They bring back so many memories for me!😌👍🏾

But, I did it every time just so I could go down the slide, I loved that slide. You should check into the tilted house that was right behind that area, Like it was right in front of where the truck are now. I thinking the building was connected to the bathrooms right there. Thanks for the video, great job.

He was screaming. There were figures cloaked in black standing around him. Very foreboding! It was in the early to mid 80s. Maybe it was added on later? Honestly I didnt either till a year ago, there's not much information on this attraction out there so it took quite awhile to dig up information but I'm glad I was able to so everyone could learn about it! 😎

I dont quite remember this but I was very young when I first went to six flags over Georgia back in 1980. i was 7 then so I doubt I would have walked through this but I'm sure my older brother did. Haunted Houses back then were very gory but at that time it was normal to us. I remember state fair haunted houses back in the 70's would have paintings of gory pictures of decapitated women and blood and whatnot. I would see this and somewhat cringe but it was the norm for haunted houses back then I guess.

Oh absolutely...that was about the primetime of haunted houses and gore definitely in the 80s...they didnt hold back on anything. People new may see this video and what the horrors the horror cave held within and think...that it's not that bad. True to today's standards, but if you think about the 1960s to the 80s that this was beyond intense specially at a theme park although the giant scary face outside was a huge indicator of that inside must be worse.

I got another news for sixflags fiesta texas for Thanksgiving week they having team members take 3 days off for the week so no overtime and I'm mad because no overtime and it's going to make the whole park staffing small so if someone calls in it be hard to find a replacement team member for that days and everyday my area usually have some people calling in and that was just weekend only

    • @ThemeParksUncovered
      @ThemeParksUncovered  3 года назад

🤨 I dont like that cause no overtime means less money for the staff for the holidays! Plus it'll be a huge toll on the staff AND its lessening the park experience for guests due to less staff to cover more grounds and potentially get frustrated and overwhelmed. Smh too much

Come on... We were just as aware of technology of them as young people are today. Yes, as very young children we are all frightened of the unknown. People of older age know the difference. Videos that assume everyone at at a rate 30 to 40 years before they were born were nothing but ignorant of the technology of their day were unaware of said goodness is really just looking for click bate... Ppptttthhhhh....
