I just am amazed this lady did this at 63 years of age!!!! The quality of her voice. So rich, smooth, and full. And her Italian is so darn good! Kiri is a treasure of New Zealand! I am so upset that I didn't learn to appreciate opera sooner. THIS IS GLORIOUS!
I saw the Dame song this live, no more than 20 feet away. some 15 years ago.. utterly beautiful. I've never heard of felt music like it since . Incredible.
I heard Kiri sing this aria in recital in Pasadena many years ago. I had never heard it before and she brought tears to my eyes though I had no idea what she was singing about. That's the power of her voice.
I was incredibly lucky to see her live at “Bellas Artes” in Mexico City back in 2006. She was and still is the purest voice I’ve ever listened to. Absolute tears from beginning to end. Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, what a gift to the world!
Merveilleuse soprano.
@@iriscollins7583 , I totally agree ; Dame Joan Hammond delivered the most lyrical and beautiful rendition of this aria ever. Hers was (and is) one of the few soprano voices I could listen to all day.Dame Joan Sutherland is another.
My favorite classical artist!!! Hands down the best!! I love how Dame Kiri Te Kanawa sings with grace and how she tells the story with her vocals , facial expressions and body language. Awesome 👏
I saw and heard her do this live in Scarborough in the north of England in about 2010. It was wonderful and exactly the same. I saw her there twice and it was a once in a life-time thing twice!
I saw her in concert in the 80s and am not ashamed to say that I cried from the first note to the last. When you're in the presence of perfection it's hard not to.
I remember the honor of becoming a high soprano, it not only takes talent, but also intonation, projection of voice, passion, other languages, with feeling, this was one of the best 2 years of my life, and the courage to overcome fear in front of 2,000 people at each concert, being honored with standing ovations every time, it's one of many powerful experiences I have earned, my heart is full, js, and my distant cousin Adelina Patti earned over $200M as a high soprano, got my voice from her
Thanks to Beloved Downton Abbey which introduced me to Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. They casted her as Dame Nellie Melba appearing as Guest Singer in the House Party in one episode of S4. Later i discovered She has sung this as the Title Song of Room With A View ❤
I am still amazed that I was chosen as a high soprano opera singer, talent is one thing, but control of voice is more important, as well as interpretation of other languages with full projection of voice, this is one of the best disciplines of courage, to completely control an audience with standing ovations, there are no words that express how deep this experience went into my soul, the privilege of being fearless has absolutely no words
It isn't possible to love and part. You will wish that it was. You can transmute love, ignore it, muddle it but you can never pull it out of you. I know by experience that the poets are right : love is eternal. E.M. Forster, A Room With A View.
I don't know what the fuss is all about: In Heaven (where're I'm from, believe it or not) they have productions like this with the very best performers, instrumentalists, and vocalists, all the time! (*yawn*) :)
She owns this song. It belongs to her which is why no one has ever done it better and no one ever will❤
Yes and only an Italian could conjur such gut wrenching theatrics 😂
Hardout! Doesn't over do it like some others. She hits perfectly and sweeeeetly❤
A Room with A View!
@@lauranocita8776 she is Māori 😆 and better than any Italian even though it took them too long to give her the admiration she deserves!
@@tylersodeyama1141the BEST 🙌🏼
And along came Kiri and showed all the other soprano's how to sing this aria. This will never be topped.
The best 3 minutes in music history

It's beautiful 😍 🤩
Adoro Kiri e le sue performance. Però...l'italiano non è proprio eccelente, è il suo unico neo.
Her phrasing and her pacing is impeccable and untouchable
I agree. She takes her time, with every syllable. Amazing, almost like Maria Callas!
One of the best sopranos in history

What a privilege & thrill! You are blessed! 👍🏻💖
It always saddens me when people say they can't stand opera. It is sublime. They are missing out.
I fell in love with her voice in 1981 - she sang at King Charles and Lady Dianas wedding. She was and still is AMAZING!
How... just... how... at her age I can’t believe the control, it’s crystal clear, not even the slightest bit off key. Wow. How!!!???
Did you see her in Downton Abbey ?
she barely opens her mouth
A lifetime of training and dedication
Talent pure and simple!
Beautiful voice at the age of 63, fantastic! Brazil admires and loves you.
Fantástica
Maravilhosa!
She was better than Maria Callas and Montserrat Caballé. God bless you so, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa.
I have LOVED this song ever since I heard it on the ROOM WITH A VIEW soundtrack. It makes me weep.
I was 13 when I heard it in the same film. I was transfigured by it….😉
She is just one of the goddesses when it comes to singing and there aren‘t many
She is an angel...but instead of wings, she has a heavenly voice....
Magnifique soprano. Une voix incroyable, un talent incontestable, un charisme renversant. L'écouter a toujours été une récompense.
Magnifique!
This is my favourite version of this xc
Hi how are you love your post
Dame Kiri has a voice that few will surpass 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I heard Kiri sing this aria in recital in Pasadena many years ago. I had never heard it before and she brought tears to my eyes though I had no idea what she was singing about. That's the power of her voice.
I'm like that with Puccini, emotional and simplistic.
I was incredibly lucky to see her live at “Bellas Artes” in Mexico City back in 2006. She was and still is the purest voice I’ve ever listened to. Absolute tears from beginning to end. Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, what a gift to the world!
The most glorious aria performed perfectly by Kiri
27 people have given this performance the "Thumbs down"... May i ask "Why?".. is perfection not good enough for you?
That’s an opinion but I do agree
It is opinion...they do not like opera, and frankly have no taste...this woman was in her late 60s when she did this song that night!!!
The best voice ever. .. thank you Kiri, these notes remain in the deepest side of the heart... you´re a beautiful human being.
The voice....
I never tire of Kiri's performance of this. A classic for the ages.
No words.
Only tears.
I watch this very rarely. A man of my age looks so ridiculous weeping like a baby.
Same. Lovely performance.
After listening to so many performances, I'm sure she's given us the best of all ❤

Wow! Best performance of this masterpiece by anyone in my honest opinion.
i don' know if there will be another singer for the many many years coming who can sing this song as perfectly as her especially at the ending
NOT for another generation, , , , maybe
Maria Callas was amazing but he recordings are a bit scratchy now!

One of the greatest

superlative singer and song! I tear up every time and am transported to another realm! thank you Dame Kiri!
Exquisite performance....i also love her singing the The Flower duet ❤
And she’s singing at the bottom of the ocean. That’s talent
My favourite soprano. For me she is the best. Her performance always always sublime❤❤❤❤❤
She's superb but I'd love to have heard Callas live or with modern sound.
@@kij100 My problem with Maria Callas is that her great technical ability does not sufficiently compensate, IMO, for her lack of emotional warmth.
SHE'S my favourite soprano too
@@ricardoredondosanchez5323 🥰❤
Ageless in her exquisite singing as much as in her physical beauty...
God given talent that He let us in on.
Such beauty. Such tears.
Nog steeds mijn meest favoriete zangeres
Terwijl ze nu al oma is. Deze super diva

her voice is of power and clarity with a very high range and technique that are reachable only by few
the music, the line and Kiri herself
absolutely magical
speechless and timeless
She has to be the best interpreter of this beautiful song by Puccini.
Have you never heard Sissel Kyrkjebo?
@@neesargon3497 her version is more on contemporary pop/opera. Nevertheless, it's good too.
Check out Renee Fleming's version too. Lovely.
Montserrat Caballe's version is the best. Absolutely sublime
I absolutely agree with you. No one has ever expressed this beautiful piece better than she has to the perfect!!
Just beautiful !!
I heard her sing this in recital in Bangkok a number of years ago... most I ever cried at a performance.
Absolutely my favourite. Love the beautiful smile at the end x
She is just a great singer giving us great music always!!
Hi, I agree with you!!
Is any more performance possible ?
The best performance which quivers the soul of the person .
Unimpeachable performance !
She's beautiful!!! I am crying...
Nessuna mai come LEI. DIVINA! Nel finale poi....no si spegne piu'......dio mio che cosa sei!
Molto bella questa ibterpretazione ma sempre dopo quella della Divina.
Makes it look and sound effortless. Gorgeous. My favorite soprano when I was studying voice in college.
I was blessed to have seen her Countess and Marschallin live. Unforgettable.
Kiri Te Kanawa - The Best
Wow. Still the best ever performance of this song.
She revieved that voice from heaven, because that is the voice of angel.
Puccini, with this aria, gave voice to what absolute heartbreak sounds like.
beautiful voice, one of the best renditions of this aria

This song makes me touched.
I still get chills every time I hear this!
I like this song. God bless you so, Ms Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. She wants to help me a lot. Without her, she would not be a part of the opera.
Bellísima voz, para una maravillosa canción.!!
notice in last part on how she manage from loud voice to softer one.marvelous!
