Lyrics
My tea's gone cold, I'm wondering why I got out of bed at all
the morning rain clouds up my window and I can't see at all
And even if I could it'd all be grey, but your picture on my wall
it reminds me that it's not so bad
it's not so bad
I drank too much last night, got bills to pay
my head just feels in pain
I missed the bus and there'll be hell today
I'm late for work again
and even if I'm there, they'll all imply that I might not last the
day
and then you call me and it's not so bad
it's not so bad and
I want to thank you for giving me the best day of my life
Oh just to be with you is having the best day of my life
Push the door, I'm home at last and I'm soaking through and
through
then you handed me a towel and all I see is you
and even if my house falls down now, I wouldn't have a clue
because you're near me and
I want to thank you for giving me the best day of my life
Oh just to be with you is having the best day of my life
I want to thank you for giving me the best day of my life

Nostalgia is the best and worst feeling sometimes
Such a simple statement, but so true. Now I'm sad.
This weekend I left a house which was my home for the last two years. My first dwelling after breaking up with my wife and leaving a home with three kids. Hard times. Hardest. I have a military background, I know hard, the army is a stroll through the park compared to this.
Good thing though, I left it for a beautiful little condo I built in our backyard, not fifty feet away from my family. Did cry till I literally choked though, as I left it. A huge load of memories.
Nostalgia is a tricky little bi**h.
Especially when youre drunk
Thanks
What a nostalgia!!!

This is a sarcastic song.. To "thank you" for being there when I needed you the most.. But in the video it's seen that he wasn't.. So it's a song for thanking someone in a sarcastic way and explaining how ideal it could have been but in the actual video it was just the total opposite.. That hits..
Your comment is so much more meaningful than most comments of "Who's here on 2024?".
Thank you.
What a jaded view.
Why she giving fck me eyes then
I can't even identify the feelings this song puts into me.
And for me !
nastolgia
I came here to say the same...
Can’t quantify or make sense of these feelings at all, but they are real af lol
Same here ♥️
It's funny, how this song is about being in love with someone
And Stan is about getting obsessed with someone
I think that's because there a very thin line between the two. It's beautiful how the first verse just captures the essence of depression; which is why it's repeated throughout Stan without any transition to the uplifting, whereas the full song here walks through a transformative process of moving past being lost and alone. Stan represents someone who just couldn't move past a set of awful, desperate thoughts. And this comparison is so deep and meaningful because it shows you just how thin the line between being miserable and living a life with meaning can be. Dido found that meaning through the "person" interacting with her; Stan never had that interaction. In fact he felt ignored. Thus, you could imaging how these two actors could have had the same outcome if they had the same experiences. It's very sad. But then again, whose fault is it really for the different outcomes or at least how should the blame be divided? How responsible should the individual be for their feelings and actions and how responsible are others for providing the support for one another that everybody needs? It's such an interesting dynamic.

1. I wrote this comment last year. ( 2021 )
2. "Thank you" was released in 1998 and "Stan" in 2000.
3. Just because some stuff gets uploaded years later on RUclips that doesn't mean it didn't existed before.
4. This may shock some of you, but RUclips didn't exist till the end of 2005.
5. So please use your brain and do the math before posting idiotic replies. Thanks!

Definitely one the top music videos made. Most videos today are crap, and this has an unlikely story. The thank you is to the house for being there for her. I love it! Every song now is about sex, or a sexual relationship built up to stand for love and the heartbreak when it's over. Few songs are about friendships and other loving relationships in our lives. It's as if we only have love and a life if we're having sex/dating. If we're not singing about doing it or bad break ups, it's as if we don't exist as emotionally relevant human beings. Dido, Jewel, Anna Nalick, Sarah McLachlan sang and wrote beautiful songs about all kinds of love. Today we have Biship Briggs trying to do that and lesser-known artists like Ruby the Rabbit foot. Dido's song could be about a friend, relative, lover, pet, child, parent, neighbor, coworker... But the video director made the friend the house. How awesome was that! We need more variety and range in today's music and videos. This was awesome and is on my top 10 list of videos just for being about the relationship with the house.
