When this came out I was homeless, on drugs, and then jail. I now have a house, job, and husband. This song and “Clover Cage - In the Moment” are the two songs that helped get rid of my depression. I first watched this MV in 2004, it became one of my instant favourites. 20 years later, I'm 29 now, and in retrospect, a lot of the concepts in the music video are kinda of cringey now ("skip school", "hang out with the bois", etc)... but in a sorta GOOD way, you know? They remind me of more innocent years, when we were young and impressionable toward the more optimistic and fun side of life. Things are tough now, they're not so simple anymore, and I'm extremely difficult to influence and have grown skeptical when things seem too good to be true, but sometimes I go back to these classic songs, like a time machine to when I often think "Everything will be alright."

I was riding my bike to Cultus Lake on a nice beautiful sunny day in Chilliwack back on Saturday with my portable radio turned on and me wearing sunglasses and QMFM played Complicated at the right time. I turned up the volume and blasted the music out loud. And a driver smiled and nodded to me and I smiled and nodded back. It really was the perfect mix, beautiful hot sunny day, going to the beach and listening to Complicated😎

how are the early 00s different from now? the only thing that's different is computers and phones are more re advanced, internet is lot faster and more on it, but that's it really.
FilmFlaw No, the whole experience was different. The trends, the fashion, the way people spoke, the things that were interesting back then (which aren't now). The technology (the factor you mentioned) back then gave that time it's own taste. People weren't involved and addicted to technology and social media and whatnot back then... Everything had it's value. And when songs like these came out you didn't just download them in an instant. You bought CD's and you walked around with walkmans. It was different, and only the people who actually enjoyed that age will understand
