Hi Sophie. That’s the best review of a new set of irons I have seen anywhere. The golf course shot scenario’s are brilliant reflected through your understanding of the game. Agree price for these clubs a bit steep in price but Ping have great after sales customer care. If you get fit by them at Gainsborough and you struggle they will see you again and adjust/alter the clubs. With a previous set of ping irons they changed the shafts for me with no charge. You can also get loft and lie checked at the factory. None of the other companies offer this level of aftercare that I’m aware of. Thanks for such great content.
    Regards. John Lynch

Bought a set of i525 irons. Love them. Gain about 5 yards, narrowed my dispersion, also spin rate has help considerably. I play over 100 rounds per year, the price is definitely worth it to me. Love your site. Watch all the time. I see you have purchased a set. How have they changed your game? Great Job. Steve

    Sophie,
How do you like the short irons on the i525 in terms of trajectory, distance consistency, spin and feel?
How do you like the wedges on pitches and chips?
Lastly, in what order would you rank the following 3 irons based on distance control, accuracy and forgiveness?
    i525, MP 225 and P790
    Thanks, Joe

Enjoy your reviews! Refreshing to see reviews from non tour swing speed good golfers. I knew I was going to get either the I525's or used I500's after looking and analyzing and hitting the I525 7 iron demo a couple of times. Saved some money and bought a full set of irons on Ebay for $600 (US) in great shape. So much talk of feel and sound, I like (don't mind) the explosive sound and feel of these irons and even the older Ping drivers. Loud and explosive vs soft, muted and mushy - no. And the I500's are not loud, just a little click.

I appreciate the honesty Sophie regarding price. I think as is the case with most of the 'big name' brands there's a time coming where they'll price themselves out the market. No one in their right mind should be shelling out upwards of £1000 for irons with the claim of 30 more yds when the reality is 3 more. But some will, lord knows why. I'm happy to wait for fitting and sale of previous models, (I bought MP18's just as the 20's came on the market) the Ping Blueprint were the first club that made me seriously consider switching but price was a factor even then. I play off 4 and do like the aesthetics of a blade whether I can play them well or not ha ha

Sophie! My new favorite 'influencer.' I found you watching the RS podcast, and I really enjoyed your input and knowledge. I look forward to more content from you in the future! AND, I just purchased the i525's based on your Ping fitting video. I did wait for a used set but still paid around 140 per club - which at $1150.00, is more than I have ever spent for a set of irons. The prices seem to be skyrocketing for many of the major brands, but it seems the quality and tech has become better overall in the last few years. PXG maybe at fault here, as brands realized they could charge a premium for higher quality clubs.

Great review, Sophie. They are great looking clubs and apparently play well, but the price does seem a bit high comparatively speaking. I got the G425s new last year for so much less. Yes, they're not for the same type of player, but seems like the price shouldn't be that much different to me. I do enjoy my G425s though...got them after watching your review last year. Cheers!

Excellent review Sophie. Always played Ping from my first drive to Gainsborough in 1992..... I knew the alarm bell at the end would be price. I think players need to test a range of clubs and see which they hit best. Then they can see if the extra money is well spent. My i210s could be staying in the bag for a while yet! 🙂

Good review as usual Sophie. Great looking and performing irons but you put your finger on the big problem and that is the price. Even when I was working I would have balked at the price but now I am retired and income is reduced I couldn't even consider them. Here in NZ just one iron would take nearly all my weekly income so they are out of reach of many golfers.

I hit these today, hit them too high and didn’t enjoy the feel but they are consistent. I hit them with the Nippon Modus 120s, which is my go to shaft. They are good performers, just don’t care for the ball flight and the feel.

Great video Sophie. Ping need to adjust their pricing. These are no different to a Callaway Apex or Titleist T200. They both retail at less than the Pings. The Elevate shaft you had is a higher launching shaft so perhaps you’d get even more distance out of the AWT or Dynamic Gold option.

    • @lawbinson

They do look nice apart from one feature which all pings have, that profile on the shaft where it has a cut out. Have seen these prices at $205 a club in USA you tube sites which is £30 a club cheaper than UK being asked to pay.

Great review & would try these clubs if I was ready for a set, but the price seems 20% over the top. Perhaps they are taking advantage of the high demand at the moment. Love your reviews. I agree on the price point for small incremental improvements over the i500 makes me scratch my head. Especially for a club that sounds and feels like just a tad better than cast IMHO. Why not go with one of the great performing clubs in the new Mizuno line. In the testing bays where you can compare head to head the looks and feel of MP225, P770/790 not to mention 0211ST or Gen 3 irons from PXG all at lower price points but with much better sound and feel. I was disappointed when I heard that they did not introduce a "fill" in the cavity. They just don't have the forging skills like Mizuno to create an unfilled hollow iron like MP225 or the older HMB for that matter.

I play off 9 (was 6 but was injured all last year which didn’t help) and currently use the Mizuno MP5’s which I love, I have had these for 5 years now and are due for a change. I would not pay the extortionate prices the so called top brands charge now days, max I would pay is £800. I used to play Wilson so will probably return to them as you get a great set of irons for a reasonable price. These manufacturers are getting greedy and pushing people, especially the new starters away from the game because of their prices.

Hi Sophie, I watched your fitting of these irons and I noticed you went with a stiff graphite shaft. Looking at the specs these irons bounce is quite a bit more than the P790 and Cobra. Since you have a more shallower swing and get a bit floppy at the bottom do you notice hitting shots off the bottom of the club. I’m interested in these but concerned about the bounce. Thx, Ric

Sophie for the love of Christ will you not mention price in your reviews. Stick to your thoughts and findings on the aesthetics and playability of the club(s).
that you are reviewing. People will eventually find out the price if they are interested in purchasing the product. As you can see there by reviewing the comments too many people have commented on price and not enough comment/discussion of people’s impression of the product. So stop with useless comment on price and stick to your take on the product. That will facilitate a healthier discussion. 😊

As someone who just ordered a set of the i525s, I think it’s a good thing for Sophie to have mentioned the price in her review. It could save people lots of time in a fitting if they can rule them out without even hitting them. I hit them and loved them. I only ordered six irons total (6-P + U) and will likely have them for many years so I was able to justify the added cost.
