- Vocals by Aurora Aguilar and Farya Faraji, arrangement by Farya Faraji. The text of this song is found in many different variants in both England and America, with various allusions to a willow tree and a cruel youth. This specific melody is one I've heard a few people sing but could find no recordings of; I can't provide any information as to its geographical origins, but thought it would be interesting to have this variant here for diversity's sake.
Lyrics:
There was a youth, a cruel youth
Who lived beside the sea,
Six little maidens he drownded there
By a lonely willow tree.
As he walked forth with Sally Brown,
As he walked by the sea;
An evil thought then came to him
By that lonely willow tree.
"Take off your gown, your golden gown.
Take off your gown," said he,
For though I am going to murder you
I would not spoil your finery."
"Then turn around, you false young man.
"Turn around," said she,
"For it is not meet that a youth
A naked woman should see."
He turned around, that false young man
'Round about turned he.
And seizing him boldly in both of her arms,
She tossed him into the sea.
"Lie there, lie there, you false young man
Lie there, lie there," said she
"Six little maidens you've drownded here
Go keep them company."
He sank beneath the icy waves,
He sank down into the sea.
No living thing there wept for him, save
That lonely willow tree. - Видеоклипы

Oh english! What a beautiful and exotic language😲
I love the part when Farya said "It's duduk time!" and started duduking all over the place.
Hello from Russia, Farya, and thanks for new beautiful song! 🇷🇺❤🇮🇷
Your voices are so well blended in this song. Lovely.
What a lovely, macabre song for the Halloween season! Reminds me of the Hanging Tree.
As an American, I could swear you sound like one of us when you sing. Awesome pronunciation and great job with the whole thing in general. Love from the States!
What a plot!
Thanks, Farya. :)
It's also interesting that there is also a swedish song named "Brun" with a simular plot and compositional structure
The band "Garmarna" has a beautiful dark version of it
Such a beautiful and dark song; it reminds me of the stuff the Decemberists write. I'm very familiar with lots of American and British folk music, so I'm surprised I hadn't heard this before. Thanks for playing it!
This is a unique result, didn't know there were "true crime" traditional songs. The minimalism of the instruments is suitable and eerie (in way ? ) and the voices are hypnotic-enchanting (and storytelling at the same time). Really good plot twist. Great! :)
This channel is absolute gold! And each piece is masterfully produced; I love listening to historic pieces of all kinds and places but it can be hard to find this level of production quality. I'm stunned
always great too see you take on new territories. amazing work as usual.
So much beauty in the voices I can't handle it.
Temperate climate themed music never fails to duduk my Madura
Content de voir (ben, d'entendre) qu'Aurora est de retour sur ta chaîne! Elle a une belle voix relaxante
Lol I was just vibing out to this song writing an email, then after writing I came back and read the lyrics and I was like wtf
This is creepier than the Justinian plague
God, I love Aurora's voice. It's such a shame she doesn't have her own music channel. She's amazing! So glad she sings with Farya and in this way I can also listen to her :)
Hey brother, thank you and Aurora for the beautifull and haunting song. Would you ever consider doing a rendition of Hriste Boze, an amazing Serbian song.
Greetings from Bulgaria.
Lovely as always
Very beautiful farya 👏👏
Neat. Sounds like an earlier variant of "Down in the Willow Garden".
Best always
Farya: Travels all the way to Warszawa to prepare a Polish song
Also Farya: Throws an anglo-american song first
Nice troll man😂
I"m obsessed with this song! I love how the melody deceives us like the Cruel Youth himself. It starts out with a happy, major chord, but as the song progresses, we discover that we've been deceived! That first chord wasn't the tonic, it was the altered fourth of the actual sinister minor key we're truly in. Very evil...
NEW FARYA VIDEO
You should do some Uralic stuff, i am a finn myself and im a fan of your stuff, it would be awesome if we get stuff in any of the uralic languages
This song resonates a lot considering the state of the youth of now such as myself...😂
Reminds me of the Elf Knight.
Interesting! I know two other related songs, that being May Colvin and Lady Isabel and the False Knight. Both of those are also excellent songs!
nice
Farya please give us Good King Wenceslas before the year is out 🙏
Hi. Can you add Scarborough Fair, please?
Farya if you haven't already you should listen to the version of An Outlandish Knight by Nic Jones, it's based off of this story
So it's a murder ballad?
Hey farya ! I've recently got really interested by Digenis Akritas because of your two songs on him. I've read your lyrics and i was wondering, why not mention his wife or make a third song on their mutual love ? Especially since his wife plays a major role in the poem because romanticism and the fact that she almost always watch him fight
Love this song Farya, And I am still waiting for you to release Legio VI Ferrata on spotify
