samyang AF 85mm f1.4 II review
Excellent quality review. Thank you HR Images.
Thank you and you're welcome 😊
Master review! Thanks For sharing with us ;)
You're welcome 😊
excellent review
Thank you 😊
good review Excellent product......
Thank you 😊
Nice upgrade, especially like the low weight like the 135. Hope someone makes a mirrorless 105mm f/1.4 soon.
Yes definitely a nice upgrade. Can't wait to see what else samyang makes
Actually Sigma 105 1.4 exists..and it’s a beast! Stunning lens. It’s not smaller as the new dg dn but it’s awesome
@@lorenzomilan4049 I think he was referring to either sony or samyang
This is a good review. Very tempted by this lens. I have the Sony 85 1.8 which is good but I would like something with a little bit more oomph in rendering images
have you bought samyang 85? how is the quality and autofocus compared to sony 85 1.8?
Great Video, please feature also the Samyang 135mm.
Thank you 😊. I have a video on the 135mm samyang
Thanks for the early review.
You're welcome 😊
Thx bro 4 your opinion. Now I believe it a good time to change sigma 85
You're welcome 😊
Definitely will be a good time
Thank you for this review!
How would you compare this to the Sigma 85 1.4?
You're welcome
I haven't gotten a chance to compare. But the samyang is lighter. I have heard focusing is better on samyang from others. But haven't tested myself
good review .. Samyang are killing it ,Time to sell your Sony GM if you have one
Already sold mine. The GM wouldn't be able to keep up with the samyang 85mm
to me the Mark 1 had a yellow tint in the images; is that lessened in the mark 2? Thank you.
I have both and comparing them i can see an improvement.
@@HRImages Excellent thank you!
For portraits I have found that Sony 90mm F2.8 macro lens is one of the sharpest lens I have found so far. Though the auto- focus struggles in low light. Is this new Samyang 85mm lens better or atleast at par with it?
I have the macro lens but do a little comparison to see
Macro lens will be sharper. Bit the samyang you are getting the f1.4 so a nicer bokeh a d background separation
Compared to what lenses? I have the Sony fe90 macro and much prefer the Sony GM 135 1.8mm.
Plus, how is the coma performance?
Didn't get to test that yet but will try and do some test
I need this explained to me: the focus is performed by the body, the lens or a combination of both? If I were to use this on my A7 II, would it perform as well as it does on a III or a IV?
Both. Need the lens to preform well with AF so will be able to match the bodies performance. It has got to the with the focus motor in the lens. It will perform well on the a7ii and a7iii but better on the a7iv due to that camera having a better focusing system in the body.
@@HRImages 🙏🙏 I see! Thank you for the detailed explanation. Been wondering for too long.
@@Xgil2Play you're welcome 😊
How would you say it performs compared to the Sigma 85dg dn?
Lighter and smaller than sigma. I found the af to be bit faster on samyang and sharper.
Sigma 85mm 1.4 dg dn is the king of 85mm .. I have both .. sigma is way faster and sharper
Thanks! I have read that all third party lens are capped at 15 frames per second regardless of the Sony body. You mentioned shooting your dog at 20 frames per second…has Sony allowed more than 15?
I did further testing after to conform and it is 15fps. Sony did a limitation on third party lens so that sony lenses will have a benefit and push more sales to them
@@HRImages thanks for the confirmation!
@@eosuser1 even with 15fps it is still really good
Could I use samyang 85mm 1.4 for sony a6400? I know it's gonna be like 127mm but that's fine, it could be work well? Anyone have tried to answer me?
Yes you can use it in the Sony a6400. It will still work and have great results. Just keep in mine crop factor of 127mm
I wanna ask you about the orange tint on the mark 1 , is fixed on the mark 2 ?
Yes it is as I have the mk1 and now the mkii
@@HRImages so the upgrade doesn’t good as much 😕
@@7latinoo I meant there is an improvement with the mkii. That orange tint has been fixed. Focusing is faster as well
@@7latinoo also mkii is lighter and bit more compact as well.
@@HRImages ah sorry miss understanding 😅 so it worth it !
How this compares to mark 1?
Better focusing, lighter, bit more compact. The yellow tint is fixed
@@HRImages thank you.. Do you know when it will hit market and would be available to be shipped. Thanks
@@kushagrasingh7731 I know in Australia pre orders are getting dispatched
I just seen more Reviews on this lens, 85mm 1.4 II. It has the worst Flares I've ever seen, just put a Flashlight point it around the lens. I've seen 4 reviews all showing how bad the lens flares are. 2 photographers in the field with a model and 2 pixel peepers comparison. Unless you had a great copy vs 4 bad copies.
Not sure but I use that lens a lot and don't have bad flares
I don’t understand your review. You are comparing these 2 versions of this lens that are sitting on your desk in front of you and yet you don’t show photo samples comparing the actual performance differences. It’s as if you just decided to make a video based on your subjective opinions and didn’t feel like doing the work necessary to demonstrate those points. Sharpness, focus noise, general and low light focus abilities, even weight! You point out that vets 2 is lighter but don’t even mention the weight of version 1! You might as well have just held up the 2 lenses and said in my opinion this one is better. Very amateurish review.
Cool story
