Gibson ES 175 1951 flatwounds and a single P-90 all you need is ML wow, beautiful, thanks Jen for bringing such a beautiful GOTD to all of us.
I didn’t realize John Coltrane’s “Naomi” could sound that good on guitar
I think it's Naima, and there is a great version by George Benson out there as well.
@@stvitalkid7981He named the song after his wife.
ruclips.net/video/erLbYWTqaO4/видео.html love ML, here’s another version
Lemo, that was the most soothing playing with a period appropriate instrument! Super! Thanks Norm
Stunning guitar, supreme playing thank you
Beautiful tunes
Beautiful sounding guitar
Absolutely beautiful guitar and absolutely wonderful playing.
My boy killed it like always!!!
Always in the pocket, Lemmo. ✌🏼
I used to have a 1951 ES-175. Mine was Sunburst. It's was a rather dark sounding guitar. I like the crisp tones this Blonde delivered.
My very first guitar teacher in 1958 had a similar Gibson loved when he let me play it
Man, that thing is CLEAN. What?! 👌🏻
I really like that slimmer bodied one in sunburst. The ES-225 I believe it’s called, but the one with two pickups. Wicked cool.
Damn, Lemmo can play anything.
Beautiful
such a great player and love this guitar.
Michael you are a genius 💗
Hey Lemmo, That’s 1 Classy Gibson your playing so sweetly! Tell Norm I said hi and thanks for sharing that one it’s very coool!😎👍🖤⭐️☮️🙏🕊🦋🕊✌️
Good friend of mine owns either a 54 or 57 of this 175 in Tobacco Burst. Plays like a dream and the dog ear P90 is pure magic
Nice cover of that Wes tune 🎉
I'm here because I just found my Dad's old ES 175 in a closet......not nearly as good a shape as this one. But I'm happy to have it none the less.
Lovely tones. Also love that Florentine cutaway. I have a 175-style thinline by 'The Loar' LH-302T (twin pups) which I adore. (So I suppose it's more of a 225-style?)
I've been thinking of restringing with tapewound. This demo convinced me.It sounded almost as if a touch of shimmer was added towards the end - very well done.
Great job. Great guitar. Great find by Norm.
Did not know u hag that Smooth music in u Michael Sweet sounding guitar u really can do it all😊
i could listen to a whole album of this vibey playing..blue comet is one of my fav albums tho 😁😎
I have one just like it same colour handed down from my father who now deceased. Except mine has two humbuckers and four knobs. Mind also has different case with Gibson USA written on it. Sounds sweet though and the neck is beautiful
Amazing guitar--hard to believe it's over 70 years old.
I don't believe it's 70 months old - how many 70 year old guitars that have never been played can there be?
Norm seems to either somehow find these guitars or Somehow these guitars just seem to find Norm……. If you’re ever up in L.A. Ca in his “ Neck ‘O the woods “ you really need to stop in & take a long look around . 😊😉👍
nice playing
I'm reading the comments below about boomers and the vintage guitar market .. as he always does, Norm said it best when he showed this guitar after his shopping trip, "If you're a jazz player, you won't be able to afford this guitar." Ouch, Norm .. better get Tomo on the phone. Beautiful beautiful guitar.
Tomo Fujita?
@@scottrgood Yes .. Tomo was Michael's teacher and mentor at Julliard some years ago, as I understand. His playing certainly deserves a guitar like this.
@@craigjones7954 Nice dude, ya I’ve met him before at Berklee when I went there, but never took private lessons with him. Heard he’s a pretty cool dude. 🎸
Referencing boomers in the RUclips comments section is so flavor of the month. And no, I'm not a boomer.
I always see very appropriate songs played on specific guitars. As an audiophile, I'd love to see that inverted and put on its head. Other than that, I appreciate the many looks at cool git's.
If that p90 was close to the bridge it'd be the perfect guitar. Still very cool and amazing it's 72 years old
Those have to be the most beautiful sounding guitars. Definitely a grandpa old man guitar.
very much in tune with the music, this elegant fellow scratching his back at 7'
🎉🎉
I think I heard a Cloudburst in there for a bit :-)
Beautiful guitar. Definitely has that early Metheny tone. Great playing 👌
Beautiful tone
IF I STILL PLAYED GUITAR
I WOULD BUY THIS COOL COOL BOX
MY LEFT HAND LOCKS UP
I'M STILL PLAYING BASS
Lovely playing Lemmo.
vibey
Don’t forget @Reverb,🎸
Is the wood maple?
It's Jean Baptiste Day in Quebec City
The P90 neck pickup sounds better than the bridge in my opinion….. and I was always a bridge pickup person until I put p94s in my Les Paul.
That first tune gave me some serious Charlie Brown Christmas vibe. Texas heat is frying my brain.
Hahaha me too 😂
"Naima" by Coltrane, its a fantastic love ballade.
lemmo, supremmo
What’s the second song he plays?
Sooo clean 🧽......blame Norm......again!🙄
what is the name of the first tune lemmo plays, I know it but the name slips my mind...very beautiful
sounds like Naima by John Coltrane
It’s probably sold by now but what wood is it made of?
ES-175 bodies are made of laminate wood (aka plywood) and the necks are mahogany.
Can’t beat Wayne Shorter for compositions 😊 Wonderful playing, as always.
The lengthy slow tune in the middle? That's "Naima" by Coltrane.
@@jtoddmusic7090 You are absolutely right. I don’t know why I kept thinking it was “Infant Eyes,” although I’m sure some replies will follow this post suggesting why 🤭
What is the name of the second song? I believe it’s a Wes Montgomery song, Lemmo played it before
Mi Cosa?
Real nice, Mike! Especially kicking in the looper and turning up the tone. Just real nice and tasty! Yum...
hELLOOOOOOOOOOOO....
It is my sincerest hope that some kid-even just ONE-comes across this video, or another GotD like it, and from that moment forward veers away from the craptacular ‘music’ his or her peers are listening to and becomes someone who learns to love the truly great, timeless stuff. Someone who demands artistic integrity and appreciates virtuosity.
Ahem…sorry for the ‘Sam the Eagle’ pontificating.
51 Like new woo 💫 So what Reverb ?
Not to be a wise guy, but the song is Naima.
Do you suppose that when all of the boomers are gone the bottom will fall out of the vintage guitar market?
Every time you bend a string a boomer guitarist gets his wings!
New boomers are being made all the time. Now people born in 1990 are paying ridiculous prices for 1980 guitars. And the guitars that are even older become "holy" objects that appreciate even more. And as guitar music becomes more niche only the real psychopaths are left that will pay literally ANY price.
I doubt the bottom will fall out. Eventually buying a guitar will become a niche luxury item and only the super wealthy hobbyists will buy guitars. Everyone else will play squier and epiphone which will be $700-$1000 anyway.
Whatever the case theres a dark future ahead of us. Buy up whatever you can afford now cause prices will never drop again
Squier will lease guitars as part of Fender Play and you'll never own your instrument outright. They'll offer it as a payment plan to parents who are afraid their kids won't follow through and stick with it.
"Sign up today for a year of Fender Play and recieve a Squier Starter Pack with everything your little rockstar needs get shredding"
Hard to say… world population continues to increase along with disposable income so probably not. It might decline however as music tastes change. Vintage demand tends to be nostalgic and linked to what is current. People aren’t overly interested in musical instruments from say 1900 to 1940 because we have fewer links to those times and that music. When few people know the name Eric Clapton the demand for bursts will be less.
Not just the boomers. Gen X love vintage. Have many vintage guitars
