A JPS (John Player Special) Gibson, for those of us that remember the Lotus F1 cars.
I’ve been watching this since 2016 and this has to be my favorite guitar you guys ever had on the show.
Absolutely love the Killing Joke you played. Nicely done, Lemmo.
you mean the damned riff off life goes on?
Looks like the Damned had it first haha. It will go on and appear in other songs as well. With similarly subtle differences.
For a guy that’s often wearing Depeche Mode shirts, I’m REALLY surprised you’d never heard of Killing Joke before.
Exactly what I thought to myself
War dance.
That first song was absolutely gorgeous and just what I needed tonight. I only wish it went on longer, like an entire vinyl side. Twas beautiful Michael.
Killing Joke ,YES!
Be sure and wish Carlos Guitarlos a happy Birthday! 70 yrs young and cuter than a bugs ear not to mention one the most versed guitar players in Cali and quite possibly the world! Check out his music! He's pretty fly!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARLOS GUITARLOS !!! 😎🎸🎼
For a white guy 😏 Happy Birthday Carlos!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
She's a beauty! Great binding and fingerboard inlays.nice peice!!!
Great playing as always lemmo but boy o boy was that first piece you played beautiful.
Love that vibe of killing Joke and Joy Division. That old fashioned definition of danger- that of 80’s high school norms when bullies thumped on you for your punk-ish attire and attitude and simply for listening to something other than Van Halen. It was all music, it was all so so good and now the danger lays invisible and ever present. At least you could see the bully coming. Keep up the good work Lemmo!
That's my kind of rock tone!
Thumb up just for mentioning Killing Joke.
I dig it. Opening was the best.
Steve Howe of Yes for Christ’s sake, c’mon Lemmo!
I don't play guitar, although I enjoy guitar-dominated music.
Part of what has been really cool about watching GOTD has been the discovery of the guitar as beautiful furniture. That's not derogatory - this guitar, as a piece of craftsmanship is just LOVELY.
The folks who built this should be pleased with their level of craftsmanship.
I LOVE KILLING JOKE!!!!!!! Saw them outside in Chicago. Also saw tool and KJ in Milwaukee. I love Geordie Walker’s playing and they are one of my favorite bands ever!
forest20 do you know what song?
Enjoying lemmos chilled energy today 🤙
Great guitar and great episode guys 😁
yah , black is my favorite color too , it just looks badass to me , and in a gibby 175 ? very cool , the feedback , the echo , the humbucker growl and crunch , that deep , fuzzy , hollowbody sound , I luv it , really dug that first tune , some fancy fret work , great demo , thanks guys.
I'd go with white
I used to have an Ibanez AG95, similar body to an ES175. I loved it, I changed it for a tele... Sometimes I miss it. Jazz archtops are badass.
I love when you use a jazz box for rock! You should always play at least one rock tune on these big hollow bodies!
Glad your impressed by Killing Joke Lemmo, they're seriously underrated and Geordie is a fantastic guitarist. Check out their first two albums especially Wardance, Requiem and Change
Tool were the best performance I've ever seen, absolutely insane
Sounds beautiful!
Every time I watch this dude play, I just wanna pick up my guitar 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Love it. Man, 1000 guitars would still not be enough for me.
You play some really cool stuff Lemmo. I appreciate it.
Excellent!! I went and found that song Eighties and downloaded the whole record haha 😂 pretty cool!
Great guitar for any day! Great demo Lemmo!! I tune in every day just to hear you play. Outstanding!
Lovely but different guitar to the norm we see here at Norms! Great playing too Lemmo! However! Gotta do a Maton!
Killing Joke used an ES-295, same thing but gold.
Damn! 295s and 175s look remarkably alike!! Good call crusherbmx
P90s
@@3rdPlaya0709 crucial difference too
Tony Evans indeed
I just come here to hear Jen when Lemmo opens a case ....
What’s the first song
Masterful touch as always Michael. Thnx
Eighties!!! 😍
I'm living in the eighties
Steve Howe of Yes is famious for his 175 I think his is like a .1960
I believe his is a ‘64
@@andrewpappas9311 1964 is correct, I know this from his "Rig Rundown" he did for Premier Guitar
Beatifull guitar like Jen's voice😍
Nice guitar! If it had gold hardware, I’d like it a tiny bit more, but I’d keep it in original condition and never touch a thing on it because of how nice it looks and that tone too!
This came out while I was in college. I did not have any money!
Great looking guitar. Sounded real good too 👍👏
The first song reminds me so much on Lotr

Killing Joke - I Am The Virus, was listening to it today
One of these for sale locally and I want it bad. Just bought a 2013 Slash Les Paul though...
This is just better, IMO. Get it.
Nice playing ML.
Liked the first tune but not the last rasping two.
Uumm nice. Nothing wrong with that fella.
Love that
Nice axe Lemmo but, wouldn't the starter guitar be an an ES 125 ? 😎🎸👍 Thanks Jen !
Jazz Keeper👍
I was born to see two thousand years
Of man's effect upon the planet
Extinction seems to be a plausible risk
Whatever happens well I'm a part of all this
wait til he hears the fall and vic goddard and the subway sect and, for a change of pace, young marble giants. oh he should also check out toy love, the clean and the chills from new zealand. lemo's in for a treat
Sorry Mr. Lemmmo but 175 started in 1949
With p90s also .....
What is the last killing joke song he played ?
"Kings and Queens' from the album "Night Time"
Ill take 2
That thing is like a Black Hole! Love it...
Bad ass ax
I hope they pay Michael enough, looks like they're working him like he's rented. Hang in there, bro.
Didn't the 175 debut in 1949 ?
Does Norms rent bubble machines?
Crazy things was not there......
While I think you should play whatever you feel, the first piece is better suited to the 175 than the second and third examples. On one hand they did she the versatility of the instrument so you have that going for you. But it is sort of like using a thoroughbred to pull a wagon or trying to run a Clydesdale in the Kentucky Derby. You can do it but both would be better served if you use them for their intended purpose. I am coming from the future and Nick's demo of a 175 from the next night March 19 is more of a jazz guitar demo.
4:23 .. I thought this was Nirvana..
Idk if you're joking or not but nirvana did accidentally steal that riff from killing joke
Ha idiot!
killing joke "stole" the riff from the damned. but who cares? all three are great songs!
You wish buddy
@@iwasnickfirst AHH I always thought Nirvana nicked it from the damned. But seeing as there's only 12 notes you might expect a few repeats ;-)
5:50 song title?
First from the UK
Right, right, you're bloody well right, you've got a bloody right to say....
Yawn from the US...
can i have it?
It looks like a birdland
mark dalton thicker body, doesn’t have the real short scale length.
The war dogs.
Sounds like Nirvana
Other way round. Kiling joke started in the 70s
But the birdland was bigger and not as fat .
Could U focus more on qualities that guitar has? Since it suppose to be Vantage.
I have similar but I covered mine in stickers, the black is a little dull on its own
-such a shame -playing distorted is a sacrilege on this guitar
grahamt33 ridiculous comment. Listen to more killing joke
@@3rdPlaya0709 You are obviously a stranger to the nuances of a jazz guitar -Killing Joke - are you joking ? A more ordinary indie band I have never heard You stick distortion and effects on a es175 and you destroy its integrity totally - go away and play a Jem or something
@@grahamt33 Lol tell that to Steve Howe, he rocked with it while still maintaining the jazzy “integrity” of the instrument. Jazz, classical, folk, country, and could tear your head off with a solo. He did all of the above with ease with this guitar because it’s so versatile and has a very rich warm tone that really allow all of the harmonic content to shine through clearly. This purist attitude is really tiring already, it’s music dude. Now if you were to use this kind of distortion on a jazz gig then yea that’s silly but these guitars can be used for almost genre. Plus the first song he played was a perfect demonstration of the “integrity” of which you speak lol.
so pretty then ruined with distorted noise.
Ok boomer
themilkman3333 Silly Milly.
Shouldn’t you guys be closed?
Beautiful Day we pre recorded a bunch of videos on Saturday.
I thought it was by appointment only to solve the head flow through the shop
Look around it looks closed to me.
The heavy distortion & effects kill the natural sound. A Tele or a strat would sound the same.
ty, guitar lovers need to speak up.
Vincent Vader Distorted hollowbodies sound oh so sweet...
Yeah when Ted Nugent plays them.
Vincent Vader LOL love this comment
Who called in the wolf man? He seems to have sat in for Lemmo. The electric guitar has a bad rap for middle class slackers grubbing into nausea of loud, balls hairy guitar playing. I thought this fine vintage ES could have been cradled more instead of aggressively angry as performed by Lemmo. Mike plugged it into a low percentage commission that did a disservice to more expansive expressions lamentably abandoned recklessly by this performance. Put me in neutral on this one, I love this guitar but think this expression lacks value 😀
