- Challah Bread is so easy to do.
When I grew up, my mom and my grandma use to bake fresh challah every friday. The smell reminds me of my childhood even though now, I still bake challah almost every week.
The recipe is very forgiving, totally foolproof, is sooooo easy to follow.
I'm listing all the ingredients below, follow the video for full instructions.
If you have any questions- please feel free to comment below
3 ½ cups of all purpose flour (can substitute for whole wheat)
1 ½ tbsp of dry yeast
2 tbsp sugar
½ cup of vegetable oil (not olive oil)
1-1 ½ cups of lukewarm water
Egg wash
1 beaten egg
Or
1tbsp maple syrup mixed with 1 tbsp water
Toppings:
Sesame seeds/ sunflower seeds
I’m loving how easy and accessible this recipe is! I have avoided baking challah for Shabbat and now you have helped me through it! Hooray!
I glazed mine with date syrup and unsweetened almond milk, mostly because that’s what I had
Give thanks!
Wow! You inspired me to buy all the Ingredients and bake one for my family on Friday. The most beautiful thing that was conveyed through this video by you is the confident and the courage to bake to people who never done this before. WELL DONE Shai! Thank you and please post more videos ASAP.
You all probably dont give a damn but does anyone know of a method to log back into an instagram account..?
I was stupid forgot my account password. I love any assistance you can offer me!

Happy to hear!
Taking a small break for renovating the kitchen and ill be back with more videos.

Thank you for this! I just made this recipe and I’m ever so pleased! You can’t find vegan challah in Indiana. Now I can make my own and it reminds me so much of my childhood!

Love from South Africa
I made it , very tasty and delicious, thank u a million 👍👍but I have a problem, my family wants me to do it all the time :)
Pro 👍👍❤️
Honey and coconut oil maybe gona try that now
Syrup + a tbsp coconut oil instead of eggs ✨
Thank you! Im definitely going to try it!
The oil will soften the crust ~ I like mine chewy!
What syrup?
Thank you! So you don’t have to replace the egg in the recipe?
No. Since I grew up I never used an egg in the recipe. Just the egg wash and now I even skip that.
What can you replace the oil with please?
Challah bread needs fat. And it has ti be neutral so it is almost impossible to replace it. You can cut it down by a bit but cant avoid it unfortunately

I think you forgot to add the 1.5 tsp of salt in the written recipe.
The actual Challah shaped bread wasn't even vegan. Wrong title
You don’t have salt in the ingredient list
He said 1 1/2 tsp.
Eggs aren’t vegan 😂
It's not vegan!
Why not? There’s no egg in the recipe, he only gives the option to use egg wash… did I miss something?
Bad quantite of ingtedients in descrption
This video was the first to appear when I did a search for “vegan challah” and it says “vegan challah” in the title, so I’m disappointed that I got 2/3 through the video just to find out that the recipe isn’t even vegan. 👎
It is though. He gave you the option to cover it in egg, or to do it with syrup as a vegan alternative?
@@orenbeckwith7351 The recipe he shows isn’t vegan, though. The whole point should be for us to see how the vegan version turns out and we didn’t get to see that. He put “vegan” in the title for no reason. He could’ve shown us the vegan recipe and said “if you want the non-vegan version, do it [this other way] instead.” No one would title a recipe “vegan beef stroganoff,” use meat from an animal, and say “you can make this vegan by using Beyond beef crumbles instead.” This just takes clicks away from actual vegan recipe creators.
You can brush it with milk too, it gives a bit of shine but not as much as an egg does.
