    Sir thank you for teaching me how to change the oil on my new Civic Hatchback and also making me die with laughter at you spilling oil everywhere. The punctured filter was 🤌

    This was helpful! Also if you leave the oil cap on when you remove the drain plug it will drain slower at first and won't spill as easily. Go back up and remove the cap and it will smoothly continue to drain.

    For the oil filter you can use a cup so you don’t spill oil

    Use oil filter pliers, they have it at Harbor Freight. Also i unscrew the oil filter but not all the way, so that i let all the oil drain. then come back like few min later, and then take out the oil filter.

    My old Civic never had that cover underneath. Must be for the newer models. But what is for, exactly? Is it to protect the oil pain, other parts of the body underneath? Thanks.

  • @edwardinvegas

    Buy the right tools to get the job done easily and seamlessly. Small investment. Honda has a filter tool star that goes on top of the filter (3/8 ratchet) to unscrew it. I only plan on using OEM as I plan on changing the oil every 5K with my 2022 Civic Si with the Turbo. Part number: 07AAA-PLCA100. Get an oil change pan wide with depth to it. Quick tip: Do the oil filter first and drain the oil in the pan then you can pull out the filter without dropping it in a pool of oil to make a splash.

      oem parts arent oem parts any more. honda does not make the filters anymore [they are denso brand i think.] also if you have any power mods on the Si like i do, id switch to a full synthetic 5w-30 oil.

    Did you use a new drain plug gasket?

  • @xbrizzcakez
    @xbrizzcakez 8 месяцев назад +1

    Those oil pans aren't too good as they are not very deep, I just use a 7-8 inch tall plastic bin container, also when the filter is too tight a small pipe wrench will easily loosen the filter. The torque on the drain plug bolt should be about 25-29 foot pounds for folks with a torque wrench, which is a good purchase for diy`ers. I just picked up a 2024 Civic ex. I`ll be changing oil in 5 months, keep filmin` ....

      I would say every 5k or 6 months whichever is first my gf car went to like 7k before the oil life reached its limit I wouldn’t trust it but who knows. If you want to be safe I would follow the 5k or 6 months.

    You should have skipped the video as it only showed what not to do. Be prepared, either have the Honda filter wrench or a piece of sandpaper to grasp a slippery filter. Always pre fill the oil filter 1/2 way and twirl around to soak the media pleats before installing.

  • @a.a.6132
    @a.a.6132 Год назад +3

    Use high quality ramps instead of jack stands. Jack stands are ok when you are not working under the car. If you insist on using jack stands, use large 6 tons stands to provide extra stability and safety.

    What about your warranty? Is this going to void it?

    • @grantdale9074
      @grantdale9074 9 месяцев назад

      Changing your own oil or ant service won’t void warranty. Car makers can’t require you to only use them for service. It is tho a good idea to keep receipts and log what you do.
