Sir thank you for teaching me how to change the oil on my new Civic Hatchback and also making me die with laughter at you spilling oil everywhere. The punctured filter was 🤌
Thanks !
Thanks for videotaping and sharing on You Tube.
You’re so funny man, good job 😂😂😂😂
This was helpful! Also if you leave the oil cap on when you remove the drain plug it will drain slower at first and won't spill as easily. Go back up and remove the cap and it will smoothly continue to drain.
That makes alot of sense!
For the oil filter you can use a cup so you don’t spill oil
buy you a set of rhino ramps and you wont have to use the jack stands. great video!
I just got a set! Thanks !
Use oil filter pliers, they have it at Harbor Freight. Also i unscrew the oil filter but not all the way, so that i let all the oil drain. then come back like few min later, and then take out the oil filter.
filter wrench. cheap and very useful, please prefill the filter the next time.
Stole a funnel from the kitchen! Oh, that is a good way to get a BLAST OF SHIT from your better half, LOL! Great video.
My old Civic never had that cover underneath. Must be for the newer models. But what is for, exactly? Is it to protect the oil pain, other parts of the body underneath? Thanks.
where did you jack the car up from
Buy the right tools to get the job done easily and seamlessly. Small investment. Honda has a filter tool star that goes on top of the filter (3/8 ratchet) to unscrew it. I only plan on using OEM as I plan on changing the oil every 5K with my 2022 Civic Si with the Turbo. Part number: 07AAA-PLCA100. Get an oil change pan wide with depth to it. Quick tip: Do the oil filter first and drain the oil in the pan then you can pull out the filter without dropping it in a pool of oil to make a splash.
oem parts arent oem parts any more. honda does not make the filters anymore [they are denso brand i think.] also if you have any power mods on the Si like i do, id switch to a full synthetic 5w-30 oil.
@@daltondeckwa3768 Nothing wrong with Denso filters really...Denso is OEM for MAF sensors are on most Honda Civics....Keeping Stock on my 22' Si. I have 07' Si I bought new which is stock with 280K still running down the road no major issues.
you can use kitty litter on those oil spills
I never knew about shaking the oil?
You see i change oil sometimes !😂😂
Did you use a new drain plug gasket?
New washer yes
Those oil pans aren't too good as they are not very deep, I just use a 7-8 inch tall plastic bin container, also when the filter is too tight a small pipe wrench will easily loosen the filter. The torque on the drain plug bolt should be about 25-29 foot pounds for folks with a torque wrench, which is a good purchase for diy`ers. I just picked up a 2024 Civic ex. I`ll be changing oil in 5 months, keep filmin` ....
hello, when should i get my first oil change on 23 civic ex??? help
your car will give you a notification
I would say every 5k or 6 months whichever is first my gf car went to like 7k before the oil life reached its limit I wouldn’t trust it but who knows. If you want to be safe I would follow the 5k or 6 months.
You should have skipped the video as it only showed what not to do. Be prepared, either have the Honda filter wrench or a piece of sandpaper to grasp a slippery filter. Always pre fill the oil filter 1/2 way and twirl around to soak the media pleats before installing.
What trim level is your car?
Touring
Use high quality ramps instead of jack stands. Jack stands are ok when you are not working under the car. If you insist on using jack stands, use large 6 tons stands to provide extra stability and safety.
Yea i need to get some for sure at some point
Idk man ramps are pretty sketchy too
@@CptKobget the rhino ramps at home depot if you don’t have a massive truck
What about your warranty? Is this going to void it?
Changing your own oil or ant service won’t void warranty. Car makers can’t require you to only use them for service. It is tho a good idea to keep receipts and log what you do.
I have 2023 civic sport just did my fist oil change on 2.0 took 5qts with new filer
How many miles you had before you change the OIL
@@jearelblack850 5000 miles
I just changed my daughters new 2023 civic sport at the 5000 mike mark, and I put in the 4.4 as it says..but it was only showing halfway between the dots on dipstick, even let it sit for a while. So I added more. Total of about 4.75 and it was getting close to the full mark. 🤔
@@joshmason7037 that’s perfect yes 4.5 in middle dot and 5qt hair over full no big deal if it happens all good nothing going to happen
@@darrennicholas860 5k miles is too much you should change every 3500, Especially with a oil like 0w-20 because it’s already a thin oil, just a pro-tip
Why do Japanese makers have the oil down? Most europeans makers have the top filter...
Great question
@@NamedLisandro Yeah cause it's really unconvenient
Man…… dude!!! Screwdriver to remove the filter!? 😬😬
Bad bad idea guy! Buy some tools
Not professional
Never said it was
