I am proud to be an American Soldier.
Much respect to all DS's, they're awake before everyone, go to sleep way after everyone's already in bed, work 2x harder than everyone, and don't get any appreciation until graduation day, then have to do it all over again for the next group of soldiers to be, you guys are all in a class of your own 💪
Christian Viera the amount of stress put on them too because they have to watch every single recruit and make sure no one gets hurt and gets things done correctly. Amazing work by every single DS
unless they are da selected, they volunteered for this and the gratification outweighs any negative..THIS WE DEFEND..

Not to mention staying away from their families for so long and only getting one day off a week. Saturday my drill sergeants would get home late afternoon if lucky.
I appreciated my drill sergeants, but I was also terrified of them! Basic training was a rude awakening for me because I had been a pampered princess all my life before I enlisted, lol!!! That was way back in 1985, and now I’m a RN BSN, courtesy of the GI Bill…
That range was in way better shape than any I ever went to at basic.
Dominic Sumner it’s in better shape then the one where I’m stationed
Where u both go to basic
@@kylechaplin2746 April 8th, Fort Sill, OK. Echo 1-79. Currently at AIT in Fort Lee Virginia, Romeo 262. How about you?
I went to fort Jackson did my time in AIT as 92Gnow back home state side
I am going to assume that all the ranges need better upgrading so usa can finally beat the goat farmers in afghanistan and won't have to keep negotiating with the taliban, also better ptsd understand and counseling before people sign up
I've never seen so many DS without deployment patches. Keep up the good work.
Nothing wrong with it, just an observation.
@@anger_mngmnt7080 hard to get combat deployments these days
@@therealhhent9841 It also depends on their MOS. I've been out for 4 years now. Watching this took me back. Could almost smell the early morning dew again, nothing like it. I remember telling my battle if he didn't brush his teeth, don't talk to me, lol. I Will never forget my DSs. It wasn't an easy transition to civilian life, at times it still isn't. Keep moving forward battles. You will remain in the hearts and minds of these young privates. They will respect you for it... eventually.
Deployments are few and far between now. 6 and half years, 2 different duty stations, combat MOS, no deployments. Army has changed
STAFF Sergeants at that!
I wish there was more “HALF RIGHT FACE, FRONT LEANING REST POSITION, MOVE!” Then again I went to Ft. Benning
In-cadence,exercise 1,2,3 1
Manuel Mota right!!
I went to Benning too. It’s not any more hardcore than another.
Manuel Mota EVERYDAY I had to hear that shit and I was put in Jackson
Hahahaha
I’ll never forget when DS Hill said if I shot 40/40 at the range she would make me a SL. Lowkey, highlight of my basic training experience. Missing those days.
I remember getting smoked on that very range
Is this fort jackson?
Yo.....this is giving me heavy nostalgia!! 😢 don’t miss it though lmao as a private drill sergeants were like ROBOTS like we literally used to ask each other if we ever seen y’all eat or drink or anything Lmaoo
You're amazing! People dont know how hard Drill Sergeants work! Nice to see everyone has to met the standard and you push them! I never understood when someone said to me Thank you for your service but you are training the ones that protect our country everyday. A BLANK check to the us. We owe you!
I remember walking that exact same road to the ranges every day. Ah the memories lol
Is it Fort Jackson? It kinda looks like it. But I haven't been there in so long.
Yeah, the forge is definitely imprinted in my mind on those roads
The forge was tough but it built are characters up and a lot of friendships
C 3-39th
Yep. These roads are imprinted in my memory.
Appreciate everything you do Drill Sgt!!
Much respect to you DS Hill. Keep up the good work!
God I remember basic being a lot tuffer when I went in. Maybe I'm just old now. Keep it up D.S.
@williampoole you're from a generation of garrison boots stop...
U r right man....early 2000s during times of combat were the shit as we only remember the hardest part of training and being overseas...basic was a joke, it was tougher, but it was a joke compared to the training that came next
You are wonderful Sgt. Best wishes at you for your great work, thank you for your service and sacrifice, God bless you
Damn they didn’t have to be in full kit to shoot. Wish I was that lucky
Is this summer camp or basic, full gear is the safest and the way a weapon is going to be fire in the real world.
Driving and filming is not the safest way to drive
Jesus Valdivia I don’t necessarily think that it’s a major safety problem if you don’t wear full kit when shooting, I shoot in my free time all the time and I have never had a incident. As long as you have good trigger discipline and keep the muzzle aimed downrange you’ll be fine. However I do think they should be at least be wearing their helmets and FLC/TAPS cause shooting with a helmet on is a lot different then shooting without and they’ll have to be used to that.
You have to be in full kit for optic qual, but not with iron sights
In basic they're just trying to teach them how to shoot and hit. The trainees aren't ready for the added variable of wearing full kit. My cycle shot with just OCPs and PCs until the last few days we had at the rifle range where they finally made us wear full kit and qualify.
Gabe Newell I had to shoot in full kit every time. The only way you’re getting used to it is if you shoot while wearing it.
Hello Drill Sergeant. Thank you for this video. It’s cool to see what my drill sergeants might have gone through while training us. Thank you
Such an amazing video , cool to see what you do in the army 🤩
Thank you for your service 🇺🇸 ❤️ 💙
Love the content, keep up the awesome work
Much respect to you for waking up early and doing your own PT. PT with the trainees does more harm than good in the long run.
I was in DS Celestine’s platoon in August, and you was there, and I remember you was SGT and now you are SSG, congrats 🎉. I see DS Urban and other two other DS in your video, please tell them Shan is greeting to them, I have finished my AIT and now I am in my first station, fort hood. ✌️
Welcome to the Great Place!
J Biren ✌️
Damn boot
I love seeing DS Urban! He's the reason I want to become a DS.
As a reserve Ds, I had the opportunity to serve on the trail for 6 months at Ft Jackson about 5 years ago and I must say it was an exhausting rush. I currently go on the trail for 3 weeks every year at Ft Benning. Kudos to the active duty drills because that's 2 to 3 years of their lives that they won't get back but will in turn make them our future leaders of tomorrow. I commend them for all they do. This we'll defend!
Awesome job on this video!
Recently out of basic it’s crazy to see that ds are real people who do you tube and stuff
Saw this title and was really hoping it was going to be one of my DS from basic.😂 Cool seeing their side of everything!
Lexi Fickes same!!!
FICKES
Holy I didn’t know you had a RUclips channel! I just subscribed.
I also subscribed 😂 gonna binge watch your videos now !!
I rememeber basic like it was yesterday. Now I'm at the NCOA gearing up to be a sergeant. I'm actually wanting to go drill and this gives me a better sense of what it will be like. Keep on posting and I will keep watching.
I’m in AIT right now and I’m thinking On being a drill sergeant in the future.. thanks for showing your side
Those M4s had so much more bass than what they sound like in person.
Thank you for everything you do for us DS, I wouldnt be the soldier I am today without you all💪🏾🙌🏾
I remember walking down that road to the ranges man it was sick 😂😂 fort Jackson was chillin!!!
I'm shipping out to Ft Jackson in two weeks! DS are so often dehumanized for the sake of toughening up trainees (which is understandable; it isn't summer camp) but I find it comforting to see an active DS behind the scenes. Can't wait for this beginning to my career!
Elizabeth Ellis good luck lol just graduated ait, and graduated from Jackson August 29th
They're strictly business until the end, then they'll be some of your favorite people. They're there to break you down, but also to build you up afterwords. Definitely a thankless job.
Just remember that everything they put you through is a game. Think positive no matter what's happening and just keep moving, one step at a time if you have too. It's just 10 weeks but it feels like so much longer when you're in there. Glad I did it but not sure I'd ever be willing to do it again. Good luck mate
Much respect to all of the DS's...I really enjoy watching your videos. They bring back so many memories. I was a drill sergeant at Fort Benning, Ga (ITB) 2000 - 2002. The army has changed so much. We used to do road marches wearing our kpots and our full battle rattle including our ruck sacks. But to tell the truth, i preferred wearing my kpot to my campaign hat any day lol. My campaign hat used to kill my head lol. Keep make these great videos......
Drill sergeant I have alot of respect for all drill sergeants because of how much you guys go through just to train soldier's. I just recently graduated basic training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. In Charlie 35th EN BN I watched my drill sergeants go through a lot for the 210 privates they had to train. My platoon senior drill sergeant especially is one that I looked up to because he stood out the most to me.
I’m soooo glad that I finished my basic back in June 2017 at fort Jackson
Thank you for this video !!! It just helped me make up my mind
Awsome to see you again
I just got put on DS orders! I’m about to watch all of your videos! I suck at cadence calling lol
I have high respect for all drill sergeants out there! They wake up before the trainees do and they go to bed after trainees do.
Keep doing great things battle!
This is a bad ass channel to watch. Reminds me of the start of my army life
As someone who just got out of basic training in fort Benning, this is awesome
Thankyou for your services thank you for sharing your experience with us i hope you are having a great day
This brings me back to basic 😭 but I will never forget my DS.
You dont look like a soldier
Andrew Essence LMAO I laugh at this comment every time it’s has been said to me. I don’t think you fully understand that Females in the military can dress and look however they want after duty hours. It’s funny how a lot of people think that females are supposed to look gross and tomboy like. No. We have lives out of duty hours and we like to dress nice. :)
@@ItsMomoASMR yea. Like I said. You dont look like a soldier. But I'm sure you ace the ACFT
@@drewdown826 shut
It's very cool seeing DS's with regular hats on. We NEVER saw ours like that, just THE hat!
I used to be stationed with SSG Brown in the old guard. She worked in the S1 shop
0300 wake up...I don't know how you're so calm looking throughout the day. I used to just look angry, all day. In the civi world, if I'm awake before the sun is up, it's a rough start 😂
Went to Fort Jackson for AGBOLC honestly probably one of the best stations I’ve been to
Congrats on the promotion battle! See you next tuesday
On the path!
Rock steady Battle! My pumpkin badge is glowing!
I will never forget Fort Jackson roads. I was 3-34 infantry reg. Bravo. I graduated basic September 12th and I’m in Oklahoma now for AIT. I miss tf outta South Carolina
I was also in B Co , what platoon were you in ?
Marina cafe Adventures first platoon
@@kcmarie71: Drill Sgt Powell huh ? Lol I was in 4th plt with Ds lovely
I use to always have my phone on military time bcuz my parents always had the clocks around the house on military time so I got so used to it
Awesome video thank you. Drill Sergeants are the backbone of the Army without a doubt.
NCO's are the backbone of the Army.
The ruck march was my favorite. I can do that all day long.
your Day looks a lot more chill then my days on the trail back at Ft. Benning back in the early 90's we had our planning meetings at 05 and were waking up the kids at 06 PT Pit at 0630 and the chow hall by 08. But hey good on ya Because I aint going to talk smack about a Drill Sgt cause I know how hard you are working it. you are the Backbone and Back stop of the Army.
Watching this brings back memories 💙
Thank you for your service. I miss those days of getting up early. Getting yelled at. The 5 mile runs and 13 mile road marches etc. 😉👊🍺🍺🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪💪👊👊. Keep up the great work Drill Sgt !!!
Wow. I know it is just a snapshot of the day, but basic changed. I went to Benning and when we went to the range or rucks we had full gear on. Sure as hell didn't go to the firing line without a vest or kevlar on. I know it ain't on you. Good video.
When I was at basic i respected my Drill Sergeants so much, none of that shits easy, and they’re good at they’re jobs
except the DS at Fort Benning were really angry all the time
I don’t even know how you were able to take vids and work and do what you had to 🤯🤯🤯
Tht range brings back memories
Basic training was hell for me! I had a stress fracture in my pelvis the whole time and didn't find out until AIT.
Thats women for you.
@@drewdown826 That's a man for you. Trying to make himself feel better over the internet by making a woman joke. Damn, somebody hurt you bad son. Whoever she is, kudos to her!
Just found your channel. God bless you
You are so cool. Appreciate your hardwork
Went through basic this summer and about to graduate AIT in a few weeks. I was always pissed about the busy schedule during training, but I never complained to the drills cause I knew they were doing way more than all of us.
04:22 SSG Fuerch i wasnt expecting to see him at all in this video. We worked in same company Apache company 1-23 INF 1-2SBCT.
That looks like 4-39 BN, i was in Dagger Company. Much respect to you and thank you for your hardwork.
If you don’t know. Drill Sargents are the best of the best in the entire army. They are top 10 percent of all NCO’s so they deserve the most respect. Ooah
Aaron Meadows actually, what people don’t tell you, is the Army just randomly selects NCOs for Drill Sergeant school because retention rates are consistently low. If you know the scrutiny and daily stress placed on DSs you will understand why many NCOs do not want to go in the first place
Sergeants* Hooah*
Great Video!
Very motivated drill sgt.
This was probably during my graduation week. I was so mad she wasn't my DS when I got there. I still had some great ones, especially my female senior DS. Now, she was tough!
Shiddd...when I was a DS we had to be at work at 0400 and wake up was 0430.
I attended US Army Basic Combat Training at Ft Jackson in 1985. I remember being absolutely terrified of my Drill Sergeant!!!
You awesome! Much love!
Hey SSG, my next major career goal is to become a DS. Any suggestions on particular areas to focus on before dropping my packet/heading to school?
yeah. EVERYTHING. level 1 tasks verbatim. learn quick time and double time cadences. know drill and ceremony. know fm 7-22 and acft
True backbone much respect SSG
Ugh...watching this made me wonder why in the hell I joined 17 years ago. And then going through similar torture in Warrrant Officer candidate school! I think I missed my calling as a drill sergeant, but you all pump me up!
How was that? I've been wanting to go down the warrant officer path for various reasons
Nice to see what happens on the other side of basic training
I still remember my days in Ft. Benning Georgia. I was in 3rd platoon Bravo Co. 2-58 INF 198th Brigade.
F that place lol
F co. 2-54 here. 30th AG was way worse though
One thing I always wondered is how drill sgts are able to immediately go from insanely angry to acting like this within minutes lol
It's a switch you get installed in ds school
Usually the anger and yelling is just a show. It is meant to put pressure on the trainees and when they aren't scared of the yelling itself they will become stressed from the smoking that will become associated with it. Just overall builds discipline, stress resistance, and physical condition. When you spend 17 weeks in OSUT you really get a good understanding of these things and learn to appreciate the DSes even when they still smoke you guys a lot.
My DS was a woman and she was hardcore like you !!!. 360 fort jackson E company. 1st platoon troopers !
x vice DS Penly???
@@Natejes1918 yes you know me ?. Lol
x vice nah I graduated oct 18 of last year
@@Natejes1918 oh cool. Yeah she was our drill and she was amazing. Teaching us everything and she took D and C very serious. We were the best platoon when I went. Missing it atm. Lol
I was Echo company 3-39 honor platoon echo. When did you go to basic?
Those were my ds this summer and I remember seeing you at the end
Haha yeah, what platoon were you in? I was in 2nd
Joseph Stalin I was in third platoon
Merry Christmas 🎄& happy new year 🍸💚💜💙 go army fort Jackson army family
Just finished all my training about 3 weeks ago mos qualified now good ole 15D stationed in Fort Frozen New York loving it so far but my training was 10 weeks basic 22 weeks ait was a long 32 weeks of training but honestly enjoyed it but hated it at the same time for anyone thinking about joining the army go for it I was thinking about joining when i was 18 but then changed my mind and iv had my ups and downs in life then finally at 23 I wanted a change and decided I was gonna go army and the next day started the paperwork process to joining and i was in fast but wish I would have joined sooner and watching this video makes me miss basic training hoping to get to go back some day as a drill sergeant most people say na fuck that but honestly it would be pretty fun
I been wanting to drop a drill sergeant packet but...god damn those hours....
I remember getting smoked during basic. Now that is some good footage 👌🏻
Man I remember those looong days at the range 😩
They must have Ericka in the field
Omg is that DS at 5:40 from Guam??? I can’t really tell but it looks like he’s using the Guam patch!!! 🇬🇺
Tasi Quinene buenas! That’s a national guard patch
WOW- US Army 1987-2010, did OSUT at Ft Benning. This looks more like a day in the life of a summer camp counsellor.
In the field we did PT in the morning. Man it was a lot different at Ft Benning for me, to be fair I was there in the middle of the Southern summer. We had trans to ranges and back because of the heat. We also left the ranges by 1700. Our zeroing ranges were smaller and not that nice as in we were on wooden platforms to zero not whatever your trainees are on. We went to the zeroing range two days in a row. The first day for 3rd and 4th platoon and the second day for 1st and 2nt platoon. That was for iron sites and for the CCO's it was suppose to be 1st and 2nt the first day and 3rd and 4th platoons on the second day. However we zeroed so fast that all 230 trainees or so zeroed our CCO's. We ended up staying at our CTA for day two and only the ones that their zero's were messed up went back. The rest of us cleaned, had classes, and practiced grenade throws and battle buddy live fire, well the movements for it.

They need more of Red phase ds hill😭😭😭😂
Army basic training pt, too easy, gotta hit the gym first
She ain't lieing. I went after end of formation at my regular unit for another 1 - 2 hours but I was into powerlifting.
G H army’s is too easy marine corp is for me
Cristobal Alvarez marine Corp was easy. Not what people say it is. Also, boot camp will be the only thing to talk about your whole marine career. 90% POGs!
Jpr0917 🤣 you stupid army relay on all the fancy toys Marines have stuck with a lot of old but good stuff
Cristobal Alvarez I can’t help it that the marine corp is the lowest funded branch. Y’all literally move ride around in a 30billion$ ship and you’re telling me we’re using fancy toys? Lol please! Leave the dirty work to the real infantry. Paratroopers and rangers been leading the way ...while y’all lose to USCG in comp lol
I remember when we had muskets on range day 😂
That was the barracks I was at when I was in Basic 😆 @ 3:50
I know you probably can't say due to OPSEC, but I'm going to ask anyway. My son is at Ft. Jackson in BCT right now. Any chance your group is scheduled to graduate on the 31st? I'd love to grab a picture with you! I really enjoy these videos, they remind me of my time in the Corps all those years ago! Keep up the good work!!
God bless you thank you for your service
Relaxing Jackson ranges

You might be careful with those leg extensions; those are extremely hard on the tendons in your knees. Nice to see behind the scenes!
