There’s a video him singing a cadence Xd
I went through basic training as an E-1 at Fort Jackson January to March 1990. I’m now a CW3 in the Army Reserve. I wish I could go back and thank the ones there and ultimately thank DS’s Tibbs, Ring, and Mokrisky of 2nd PLT, Alpha Company 2/13.
Mann how the hell u remember that shit lol 😆
Fr, I only remember my senior ds name and I started basic last September 😭
My dad was a DI. He had two young toddlers at home that he put thru all sorts of exercises. If we complained he said just think I make young men do this on gravel in the freezing mornings! Respect!
I went through basic training more than 25 years ago and I still remember my drill sergeants.
Some nice memory there
I went through it last fall, only remember my senior ds name, but I still know their faces and I have so much love and respect for what they did
I did BCT 43 years ago and still remember mine!
Those brown/green hats and blue vests will evoke more fear and stress into you than any enemy you could encounter.
Apparently not when there are a lot of undisciplined fat soldiers.
I’m digging the duty belts on the Drill Sergeants....just like I wore as a Marine Drill Instructor way back when....
U look fat tho
It’s weird how they turn someone so mousey into a psychopath yelling at your face 24/7 lmao
During my era Drill Sergeants were crazy forreal it wasn't an act.
Yeah, but youre untouchable....😂😂😂 (good ol history jokes)
We had a Drill Sergeant tell us that he hung his cat for pissing on his briefcase.....he was insane

Oh shit I saw my drill sergeant been drilled🤭🤭😮😮

I was a Drill Sergeant in the 98 Div for a good many years, I enjoy working with the new recuits and my time being a Drill Sergeant is forever in my memories
Almost 26 years later I still remember my Drill Sergeants.
Being a Drill Sergeant was one of my most rewarding experiences of my career!
I heard becoming a DS it's like basic all over again . The thought crossed my mind , but I shall see when I cross that bridge , as of now I'm trying to reclass into 17c .

I'm a coworker of Ryan at UPS. Ryan is a role model in so many ways not only in the military but as an extremely conscientious UPS employee that cares immensely for his customers and the company he works for. Ryan rates at the top 1% of the people in terms of character and dedication that I have met in my long life. It is always a pleasure to talk with him each night as he comes of his route. Ryan is extremely intelligent, dedicated, and caring.
I admired the drill sgts I had during OSUT. Subject matter experts is a true statement.
I went to basic training in 1984 at Fort Dix . I remember all of my drill sargents and can still hear their voices today. DS George Spence, DS William Sanderson (ex marine) and DS Peggy Spurlock. Thank you for taking a 18 year old kid and showing him that he was so much more than he thought he was. A-5-3. 2nd platoon
I just want to say respect to everyone who this channel represents. Salute
I still remember my drill sgts ds hall and ds krouger. Ft Jackson never forget them.

Thanks for your service you've earned your privilege
Good ole DS Bruce kept me up nights after i got through basic and AIT! Sometimes he still creeping in to my sleep. Went from 0 to 110 in half a second and vice versa. Never forget the beasts, nothing but full respect for these men and women who commit themselves to turning babies into babies who can shoot.
I swear the DS who was calling cadence at the end sounded like one of my DS from basic
D.S Moldovan was one of my Drill instructors when I went through Basic back in 2017.
I went through Drill Sergeant School Class 6-83 at Fort Jackson SC. Back then we had to go through Drill Sergeant Orientation Course (DSOC) for 3 weeks being treated like privates. Once we completed DSOC we were allowed into the Drill Sergeant Course for the next 8 weeks. It was one of the most demanding schools I ever went to in my 28 years of Army Service. I performed my duties on Tank Hill in those days. It was the most rewarding duty I ever performed. I remember my Drill Instructors from Basic Combat Training at Fort Polk LA (SDS Oliver Magee, SSG Wesley Thomas, and SGT Brown). I remember my AIT Drill Sergeant (SSG, now MSG (R) Gerald Dukes who I still talk to this very day. He was proud I surpassed him and still remember me when I made 1SG/E8. While still on acive duty I ran into so many of my former Basic Trainees and was proud of how they had advanced. I loved being a D.I.
Loved my time as a DS in the German Army
Been out of the Army after serving 20 years. Still haunted by DS Rainer and DS Jamison.
Yoooo!!!! The parts with SDS Anderson, DS Culven, DS Edwards, and DS Farve is my rotation back in 2017. Those were my drill sergeants back then. Hell yeah!!!!
always found DS school confusing. is it a bunch of NCO's going through basic again?
Yes but they have to be experts and know everything they're going to teach you
It is but way more intense and in dept. They cover the how to and they why.
Yes the selection process is pretty tough.
Essentially, but the standards are A LOT higher because these guys are already soldiers, not trying to become soldiers. They're responsible for literally every aspect of a soldier's training and conversion from civilian to soldier while in boot camp, so they have to know their stuff.
Yes but we go on longer road marches and go over basic over and over and over again.
My hometown had a reserve Drill Sergeant unit back in the 80’s. When I was in the reserves I was in a program called “Split Option”. I did my BCT (Boot Camp) at Fort Bliss, TX during my junior summer then the technical training after graduating from High School...Prior to that they had a mini weekend boot camp prep, we drove down to Fort Devens, MA recruiter dropped us off and a bunch of reserve Drill Sergeants took over, it was good training for them and us. One of the recruiters in my hometown office was a DS and he helped me a lot!
Wow I live here in el paso it's wear to hear someone mentioning something about el paso because it might be boring for some people but I love my city and thanks for your service.
Bot 2.0 no swear. I went in summer of 1987. Believe it or not up until then I had never left the Eastern Time Zone. About two and a half years later I had transversed ALL 24 time zones...USN world cruise.
76th Division, Bristol, RI. Forever in my heart.
He is right I remember my Drill Sgt SDS Kozlinski DS Xeno and DS Whigham I won't ever forget them for sure
I remember one of the DS from basic , and damn I thought of Aries , the god of war , he was tough , but my DS, DS Harris was short but she was someone I wouldn't cross paths with.
That cadence at graduation was awesome!
Went through Jackson for BCT in 06. I was in 4th Plt F Co 2-60th. My DS were: Bryan (we still keep in touch), Crooks, Sabold, and Diaz. "Scouts Out!"
When I had Facebook, there was a commercial on Drill Sergeant School & look who I found out was the Sergeant Major of that school.... my former DS Michael Berry,😁😁😁!! When I went in for boot camp at Fort Sill, OK, in “99”, he was a fairly new Drill Instructor!! Wow, time had really change, 😊😊!!
Going to Drill early next year I am excited

Talking bout striplin? I was Charlie 5-15
Neat to see that the 98th TD is still around. Don't know if the speaker was intentionally thinking about it or not, but when he mentioned the modern DI needs to be a "Renaissance Man" I wonder if he was at all thinking about (and if anyone else caught or thought of it) the movie of the same name which had Danny DeVito starring in the leading role, given the subject matter in this film clip.
That’s my BCT company in the beginning of the video!!! 2 of my old Drills DS Metz and DS Johnston!!
Thank you all for your service new subcriber
DS Castle at 1:37 was one of our drills he was a hell of a soldier and taught us well fuck yeah
Gotta give your DS respect.
Drill Sarnt Wheat, Drill Sarnt Hayes, and Drill Sarnt Dupree were my Drill Sergeants at Ft. Benning in 2000.
Infantry that is!!
I had my drill packet in and finished. Had five fellow NCO’s that were all ex-drills as recommending and all E7 or above. Was time to goto drill school, was stationed at Coleman Barracks and received a notice from PERSCOM or TRADOC (cannot be sure of authorizing authority) stating policy change affected my packet. Only combat arms NCO’s were being selected. I was prior service (Navy) E6 to E5 and had to do Army basic... as an NCO...two bootcamps...argh! Seemed like every senior NCO in my unit there was prior Drill. They couldn’t believe it and they tried back channels, to no avail. Besides being injured at the Q course with a destroyed knee (fall from the rope climb on Nasty Nick at Mackall), this was the biggest disappointment in my career. Oh, getting out of the Navy was stupid and a disappointment as well...lol! Good ole Gramm-Rudman act...not giving them six years for free. When my fellow sailors were getting $30k the day before. What I get for joining on 1 October! Awesome for the troops that were able to go! Bravo Zulu!
Those were my Drill sergeants standing out there in the rain! That was my BCT rotation as well! 3-13 E co!
The one commanding the platoon was my senior drill sergeant in BCT , DS Erhardt

My husband was a DS at Ft Bliss in the mid sixties.
I definitely want to take a chance if I get one to be one ..
Now, where do drill sergeants to drill sergeants get their training? 🤔
This school, the drill sergeant academy, im there right now
I believe you have to be selected by the Drill Sergeant Academy’s CSM. From there you will be trained as a Drill Sergeant Instructor. And yes, there are even those working at the academy who are selected to train Drill Sergeants to train Drill Sergeants lol. This is da wey, mah bruddah!

haha.. never forget my drill sergeants.. as a civilian, one was a reservist, and in the civilian world before I enlisted, we were actually neighbors, and didn't know each other. Then, as luck would have it, a couple years later I had enlisted, and low and behold, he was my drill sergeant. He came up to me and was like, "Private, do I know you?", I looked sheepishly down and was like.. haha, nope (hoping he didn't)...... he was on me like a wet tshirt and didn't let me fail... remember him to this day....
