I have Odin3 v3.12.10 downloaded and successfully opened on my computer. I was successful until step 9. I followed the directions but the "Android Recovery" screen popped up. It is my understanding that the TWRP file did not download properly. The file I am using is "twrp-3.1.1-0gtaxlwifi.img". One thing that worry's me about this file is it shows up as a PDF on my computer but the file type is TAR File.
I believe I am using the incorrect version of Odin or an incompatible version of twrp. I am also confused on which twrp file or files to download as the link in the guide has 4 different files.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It's probably cuz u have Android 8.0/1 installed. Change the twrp file to the latest
got a problem! when i flash twrp and press volume up+home+power it doesnt boot to recovery but instead i have blue stripes running down the screen and then it changes color. i had to flash stock rom and everytime i try to flash twrp again it does the same thing... can you help?
So finally after 24h trying to make it work i finally did it. The official twrp file bricked my tab whenever i tried to access recovery, i had colored lines crossing the screen like if it was broken, i found this file to work drive.google.com/drive/folders/1H3-CU3p-mGf0b_oQ69wirVcgd-okF-ps?sort=13&direction=a then do exactly the same procedure

I can’t flash TWRP. It just says All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0).
Edit: so I figured it out. I noticed on the video his Odin said IDxxx Added!, but I didn’t see that on mine. So I figured it was a connection problem. Turns out windows didn’t have the drivers installed, and I had to switch USB ports in order for the option to install the drivers to appear. After I did an automatic update, it finally worked!!! Hope this helps anyone else who may run into this problem.

Im getting the blue screen after attempting to get into Twrp screen. I flashed and restarted but when attempting the "up volume, home, power" command it always go to blue screen....have tried Odiin 3.12 and no difference.

I'm about to try this on mine. I have the SM-T580 and been wanting to run alternative Linux on it for quite some time. Maybe by unlocking/rooting the device, i can proceed. I would much rather install Ubuntu or some other Linux distro directly on the device and there have been some people with success, but nobody is able to give instructions on this.

It's very fortuitous that I just happened to buy one of these today and immediately felt like I needed something better than stock android 7.0 and this was a very good start to getting TWRP on there! I just wanted to make one suggestion though. For those like me who have never attempted to use a Samsung device like this, I first needed to download and install their mobile drivers before I could do anything. Until I did so, Odin was unable to flash any files for me.

When you say you are on a fresh/clean install, are you signed into your Google account yet? I have heard various things about having to remove your Google account before modifying some devices, and am wondering if that applies to this tablet.
No it just means that I factory reset my tablet so I can demonstrate it to you guys from step 1. You shouldn't have to do any extra steps. Just do what I did. However save your photos or valuable data first, so if it does wipe the data, you have them. Good luck.

Yep. All you have to do is go to magisk manager. And choose uninstall.
Oh if you want to get full stock you need to flash the stock ROM again. I've made a video saying "unbrick Samsung devices" if you follow that you can get to complete factory condition.

Great video! I got one of these tabs and I want to install an SD card as internal storage. Is there a way to do this without rooting? I have no experience in rooting. If I do have to root, would the method of rooting you instructed in this video trip the KNOX warranty? Also I understand if I root I would no longer receive OTA updates from Samsung. Is there a way to still update my device after rooting?
Even if you root your device, you won't be able to set your SD card as an internal storage. It's not supported by the Samsung rom on this tab. However you can still use apps to transfer apps in batch to your SD card. Yes you will trip Knox warranty. If you really want to update the laptop after rooting, look at Sam mobile and download the new firmware and you'll have to flash it through Odin. I've made a video about recovering devices that get bricked you'll basically have to do that. Hope you subscribe!

I copied exactly what you did in the video but when i got to using the ODIN thing and put the twrp into the AP, i pressed start but it didnt do anything, the log just said: All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0) what is the cause, did i do something wrong? (EDIT): Turns out it was just the way i had put the cord into my tablet before going into ODIN MODE

same happened to me, i ended up going to another site and download.chainfire.eu/1093/CF-Root1/CF-Auto-Root-gtaxlwifi-gtaxlwifixx-smt580.zip?retrieve_file=1 it will install but fail the security check and let you go back to factory settings, doesnt root it, but also doesnt leave you with a brick

On the last Samsung Galxy Tab A 10.1 root video uploaded I successfully rooted my Tab A. But when I rooted my device and start using it I came across a problem, when I rebooted my device it said " Custom Binary Blocked By Frp Lock"
Then I had to reinstall the firmware with Odin. Then my device got totally restarted, it removed my root. Will that happen with this new method also?
Hm..I've never encountered any issues like that. Try this method, you shouldn't get any errors. If you do, let me know, I'll look into it. Good luck.

Help! When I try to open twrp (6:28) it takes me to another screen that says: Installing system update... No command. I follow exactly same all the steps but i have a problem in that step.

Try using a different usb cable. And if you have a SD card, use a different one or take it out completely.

hi - I'm sorry but this is not working - after flashing the twrp (which worked) and using HOME-VOLUMEUP and ON the screen gets blue and say: installing system update - after a while I get a black screen with yellow "Android Recovery....." and the choose for - Reboot system now, -reboot to bootloader, - apply update from adb, ..........) there is not the twrp window like you have. Do you have any idea whats going wrong - please help

Only use Odin 3.12... Avoid using any other Odin version. I 1st used 3.13...latest and it didnt work and had the same problem you are having now. I then use the Odin 3.12... and it was a miracle.

Root goes away when you reset your tab. That's normal.
