The first one is absolutely true. We only keep two guinea pigs and they have an age gap, and when our guinea pig, Dan, passed away, the other one, Jim, was alone. He barely did anything all day, he was completely depressed. So when we got another guinea pig, Jack, he was much more active and happier. It just shows how much they are affected by their companions.
Here is a tip. Guinea Pigs love carrots especially the top leafy greens of the carrot, that is their favorite part. An easy way to give them this treat is to grow your own carrot leafs on your own window sill and it is very easy. When you buy carrots at the grocery store simply slice the top 1 inch of the carrot off regardless of whether it had leafs on it or not. place it in a glass of water without letting the top of the carrot be submerged . I use three toothpicks to stick in it which holds it up . Then place it near a sunny window and within one week you should see the leafy tops begin to grow. after about 3 or 4 weeks you can cut the leafy greens off to feed your guinea pigs and keep the carrot in the water and it will keep growing the leafy tops. Grow as many carrots as you want. Change the water in the glass once or twice a week. You can also do this with celery. And never throw out the middle scraps of a green pepper such as the seeds because guinea pigs love them. They also love the outer leaves of corn as well as corn on the cob. They also love the dry outer skins of onions.
I have two guinea pigs, and once I saw one of them freeze. The other one kept lifting the other's nose with its nose until it went so high it fell over. Cutest thing ever

Popcorning Piggy I have a friend that doesn't follow most. Like the space one. Her 2 guinea pigs are in a cage that is like the size of my armspan. They rarely get floor time, and they are definitely less happy than the guinea pigs I raised (and got from them because they accidentally put a male and female together). They feed their guinea pigs pellets and hay, veggies once a week. I fed my guinea pigs veggies everyday, and they were always excited to see me. My friend's guinea pigs are always hiding unless there is food. Makes me sad to see those guinea pigs, but they don't think of me as the expert since I got guinea pigs from them and therefore I've had knowledge for less time :/

HUGE tip for anyone buying hay - a bale of timothy hay (75-100 lbs) costs the same as a 2.5 kilo bag bought from a typical pet store (@ 25.00 - 30.00). I spent hundreds of dollars before discovering this. The farm suppliy store I deal with (Sharcare in Nanaimo on Van Island) also sells part bales and customer stuffed garbage bags of hay for reduced amounts. Be aware if you go to buy a bale from a farm or suppliy store they are heavy, difficult to move and will triple their size if broken down - I usually fill 3 - 4 large rubbermaid containers and a 3 - 4 industrial sized garbage bags for storage. Love your channel - keep it up!

I guess it just depends on the gender, personality, and breed. Nugget is a female Himalayan. I got her when i was 11 years old but had to give her away when we moved three years later. Shes staying with some friends right now. Its been a couple of months and my parents are getting me another guinea pig.

And her sister Reese is rlly shy and it’s been MONTHS and still isn’t tame but you’re right about patients...it might be a long wait and practice to get the pigs tame but when they are it will be TOTALY worth the wait...keep up the GREAT work
Our pig took over 2 years just to let us pet her while inside her habitat. Definitely harder to tame than a dog or cat. You are so right, some Guinea Pigs are calm and some are nervous. I rescued Alfie a couple of years ago and he still runs away from me, his cage mate is calm and usually ready to be picked up. I am still persistent with Alfie!

Guinea pigs are like people, each one has its own personality. Some piggies prefer to be the only one. As long as theyre happy and content and you give them lots of attention you shouldnt be focused on how many there are.
When I got my first guinea pig I gave it a small cage and no other piggy friend and now we got another cute guinea pig and a big big cage so he’s happy

I only had one guinea pig and got her very young. She was my little princess 😂 I’ve been looking into getting two now! Sadly my little princess passed away two years ago... she died at 7 years old from a Tumour that we caught to late
1. My guinea pig had a partner, but sadly died a few months after we got them. But, she doesn't seem to mind being a solo piggie. She's really happy. She cuddles, she purrs, she wheaks when someone walks into the room, she loves me and my parents, and she licks me 24/7. My father says she thinks I'm her mother! 2. Her cage is the same cage we got her when we first got her and her partner. Which is small. We've been telling my father we need a bigger cage, but he hasn't really listened. Plus, our house is small, so her cage is big enough until we move lol. But, she seems happy. She has a tube she loves biting and going in, and a sleeping bag she doesn't even go in, but she goes UNDER it like she does with blankets lmao! She even hides under it! 3. Her diet is pretty good. She loves green and red peppers, lettuce, red leaf lettuce to be exact, and she kind of eats carrots. She doesn't really like fruits. None of the fruits we give her she really eats. Apples are the only acception. Macintosh are her favorites. She snatches them out of my bowl lol. She, obviously, loves timothy hay. We give her big piles in the middle of her cage, and she uses the leftovers as bedding, which she snacks on when she's laying down. 4. We've only bathed her once in her entire life. Guinea pigs can bathe themselves, and when they do, it's super cute. 5. We're thinking about taking her to the vet for a checkup, but we don't know how much it will be, because we don't have too much money right now, but we hope very soon! The vets by us are really expensive... 6. My guinea pig really doesn't like to adventure, well, except if it's under a blanket lol. It took her a while to trust us, but we give her a lot of love and affection, and all I ever wanna do is cuddle with her and kiss her little head .w. My guinea pig's name is Sapphire, and her partner was Ruby. R.I.P Ruby.

You are so right, some Guinea Pigs are calm and some are nervous. I rescued Alfie a couple of years ago and he still runs away from me, his cage mate is calm and usually ready to be picked up. I am still persistent with Alfie!

Off course by "survived" you mean lived better than most.
Guinea pigs are like people, each one has its own personality. Some piggies prefer to be the only one. As long as theyre happy and content and you give them lots of attention you shouldnt be focused on how many there are.

i have 2 guinea pigs one of them is brown and he is called cookie and the other one is white and he is called frosty. i love your channel and your guinea pigs are so cute! i love watching your videos they are very helpful. my guinea pigs live outside it a big wooden cage it is about the length of a big dining table and they have lots of play toys. when i go outside to feed them i say 'guinea pigs!' in a very high pitched voice, and they come running to the edge of their cage :)

I only had one guinea pig and got her very young. She was my little princess 😂 I’ve been looking into getting two now! Sadly my little princess passed away two years ago... she died at 7 years old from a Tumour that we caught to late

1. My guinea pig had a partner, but sadly died a few months after we got them. But, she doesn't seem to mind being a solo piggie. She's really happy. She cuddles, she purrs, she wheaks when someone walks into the room, she loves me and my parents, and she licks me 24/7. My father says she thinks I'm her mother!
2. Her cage is the same cage we got her when we first got her and her partner. Which is small. We've been telling my father we need a bigger cage, but he hasn't really listened. Plus, our house is small, so her cage is big enough until we move lol. But, she seems happy. She has a tube she loves biting and going in, and a sleeping bag she doesn't even go in, but she goes UNDER it like she does with blankets lmao! She even hides under it!
3. Her diet is pretty good. She loves green and red peppers, lettuce, red leaf lettuce to be exact, and she kind of eats carrots. She doesn't really like fruits. None of the fruits we give her she really eats. Apples are the only acception. Macintosh are her favorites. She snatches them out of my bowl lol. She, obviously, loves timothy hay. We give her big piles in the middle of her cage, and she uses the leftovers as bedding, which she snacks on when she's laying down.
4. We've only bathed her once in her entire life. Guinea pigs can bathe themselves, and when they do, it's super cute.
5. We're thinking about taking her to the vet for a checkup, but we don't know how much it will be, because we don't have too much money right now, but we hope very soon! The vets by us are really expensive...
6. My guinea pig really doesn't like to adventure, well, except if it's under a blanket lol. It took her a while to trust us, but we give her a lot of love and affection, and all I ever wanna do is cuddle with her and kiss her little head .w.
My guinea pig's name is Sapphire, and her partner was Ruby. R.I.P Ruby.
