I’m definitely sharing this video. Thanks gunieadad taking the time to help us explain what is needed for a healthy happy piggie life

Thank you so much for your kind words, and thank you for your support, we appreciate you❤️ So glad that our liner is treating you and your piggies so well!!
One issue with most Hay racks is: Guinea Pigs can get their heads stuck in the rack. GuineaDad hay racks are cardboard so it is highly unlikely to get their head stuck. and the ranks make a nice snack. For the Guinea Houses, I'd suggest making a 1-1.5 inch cut on the bottom of the window to ensure of a piggie panics and dives through a window, (s)he won't get stuck).
I've used other racks and I favor there's. It's a large cardboard box that so far has lasted a month. I have two boys who would constantly knock down their feeders and spread hay everywhere. They are trained to potty near where they eat so we do clean that area more frequently but so long are the days of going through bags and bags of hay due to their shenanigans
Ours have pulled the hay rack off the cage and sticks their head in from the top. We gave up on that one. We also got a plastic one with a metal grate, took them 2 days to figure out how to slide the grid off.
I'm currently looking to get 2-4 pigs right now, never owned them before, and so my search history is all about these videos! Thank you so much for this one!
Yea!! My first piggy I had was when I was about 10, that was 20 years ago. They didn't have any of this then. He passed when he was 7 and I couldn't bring myself to get another. But now knowing that there's so many options for better lives I think I may get another
Regarding your comment about leaky water bottles: I have found that the glass water bottles (with metal straw) do not leak. I have switched my guinea pigs strictly over to the glass ones. When cleaning then, ensure to use a bristled pipe cleaner type thing to clean the metal straw from both ends.
Alternatively, I have found three dishwasher works great for all pet dishes if you have a dishwasher, I know a lot of pet owners who for some reason won't use their dishwashers on their pet's dishes
I actually plan to pick up a 2x1 liner for my med cage. I have a huge cage my girls live it but they have some health issues so i needed a good cage to carry 1 or more piggies in for vet visits. So i made up a 2x1 C&C cage and have an extra water bottle food bowl and one of those small hay racks just for that cage should someone need to be transported. I actually just now remembered you had liners that size and it will be perfect for them.

Thank you so much for this video and your others. I've recently agreed to the decision of allowing my daughter (8) to get her first guinea pig. And so we have both been watching all the videos that we can on care of guinea pigs. One of my questions that haven't seen answered in any video sadly is how often do you think would need to change the fleece (yours specifically) for a 2x4 cage of 2 pigs? We want to get larger size cage eventually but space right this moment in our house only allows the 2x4. Is it daily? weekly? 2xweekly? What would be your recommendation? Our plan is to vacuum up the little poops daily so more concerned about the wetness.
Hello! I recommend washing the liners weekly, while doing some light spot cleaning daily. Here's a link to our blog post that should help you out! guineadad.com/blogs/news/guineadads-how-to-guide-to-cleaning-your-liner-spot-cleaning-to-laundry?_pos=4&_sid=23ccafa87&_ss=r
His reply is spot on. I do spot cleaning daily and wash once per week. Sometimes I do it more frequently because my one pig is a total pee/pooh monster.
Of course, using plexiglass for the walls of your guinea pig cage can be a great choice, but there are a few important considerations to keep in mind: Ventilation: Ensure that the plexiglass walls have sufficient ventilation. Guinea pigs need fresh air to stay healthy, so make sure there are openings or ventilation holes in the plexiglass to allow for proper airflow. Size and Space: Guinea pigs require ample space to move around and explore. Ensure the cage is large enough to accommodate their needs. Plexiglass can work well for creating a clear and spacious enclosure. Safety: Check that the edges of the plexiglass are smooth and won't pose any sharp edges or potential hazards for your guinea pigs. You might want to consider adding protective covers or trims to ensure their safety. Cleaning: Plexiglass can scratch easily, so be cautious when cleaning the walls to avoid damaging them. Use a soft cloth and mild cleaning solutions to maintain transparency. Interaction: Guinea pigs are social animals and enjoy interaction. Ensure that the plexiglass allows for easy viewing and interaction with your pets so they don't feel isolated. Insulation: Plexiglass may not provide as much insulation as other materials, so consider the climate in your area. If it gets too hot or cold, you may need to make additional adjustments to regulate temperature inside the cage. In summary, using plexiglass for your guinea pig cage walls is okay as long as you take these factors into consideration. It can offer a transparent and visually appealing enclosure, but always prioritize the comfort, safety, and well-being of your guinea pigs when designing their habitat.
If it's 5 days, I would have a friend come daily to take care of the girls. I think it's more of a water issue than hay box, because these boxes can lasts weeks (of course depending on number of guinea pigs), but typically you need to fill up the water often.
Definitely have someone take care of them. Bacon was lucky stay at my mom house for 4 days she has a vegetable garden. He had a all you can eat buffet and free roaming of their dining room. Paradise for guinea pig 🤣
Guinea pigs can't be fully potty trained like some other pets, but they can be encouraged to use a particular area for their bathroom needs. Many guinea pigs tend to go where they eat, so placing a pee pad can help manage the mess. 🐹🥕
In case your getting a Guinea pig, well you watched this video so obviously, I suggest getting CNC grids and not buy a cage because it’s a lot cheaper, I also suggest getting the GuineaDad Liner/ bedding because it works amazing and it’s cheap compared to normal bedding! GuineaDad Hay is more on the expensive side, but it lasts a while and is very good for your Guinea pigs!
I have a big problem. We are thinking about bringing in 2 guinea pigs that are on the side of a busy road today however we dont have any cages yet. What do you suggest we do?
When it comes to cage, bigger the better. However it sounds like whatever you provide it will be better than the side of a busy road. Thank you for helping those piggies.
The minimum recommended cage size for 2 guinea pigs is 7.5 sq ft (2x3 C&C cage), but you should get them at least 10.5 sq ft (2x4 C&C cage). The C&C cage is a really nice cage since it provides ample space and ventilation! The only thing would be if you have other animals in the house, you'll need to get a cover too
Hi, GuineaDad! I am a guinea pig owner, and I have a couple of questions. I have two guinea pigs. So I have a 5x2 C&C cage.Thats big enough, right? I have a tunnel, and two hideouts. That enough? They have 3 chews, which I switch out weekly. That okay? They have a food/hay dispenser, and two water bottles. They also have a litter pan. I use fleece, and spot clean everyday and full clean once a week. That good? I hold them nightly, for about 30 minutes, and give them floor time every so often. They have hay 24/7 and feed twice a day, 1/8 a cup per time. I would also like tips on how to keep my room smelling better, so any tips?
Hi Madison! Welcome to the Guineadad family! 👋 Below you will find the recommended cage size per number of pigs but the bigger the better! You're cage szie is also perfect. 😉 One guinea pig: 7.5 square feet, or about 30”x 36”, is the bare minimum recommended, but bigger is better. (Keep in mind that guinea pigs are highly social, so it is best to have at least two guinea pigs who get along with each other.) Two guinea pigs: 7.5 square feet (minimum), but at least 10.5 square feet (30” x 50”) is preferred. Three guinea pigs: 10.5 square feet (minimum), but at least 13 square feet (30” x 62”) is preferred. Four guinea pigs: 13 square feet (minimum), but at least 30” x 76” is preferred. So far so good! I think you're doing an excellent job in taking care of your little ones. I am so glad to hear that you're spot cleaning daily and you're doing a full cleaning every week. For the smell, I recommend that you use air purifiers that are specifically designed for pets to reduce air odor. 😊
What type of hay do you have at home? 99% of the time those who are allergic to Timothy Hay have no issues with Orchard Hay. Maybe you would like to consider changing the hay type first. 😊
Yes, definitely you need hay. Pellets tend to be too high in calorie and they need to be given set amount per day. However, guinea pigs constantly need to feed on high fiber food like hay to keep their stomach moving.
I am glad you asked Ashley! You have the option to hand wash them ot use a washer. Please follow the link for more information: drive.google.com/file/d/1dA_A9kAvC-sXPdqrSYC-wmWifHHVHDrT/view?usp=sharing
of my 13 piggies i only have one who absolutly refuses to eat pea flakes shes a little priness who throws a fit when they come out but then turns her nose up at them and walks away
@@mohammedfeiswal5634 now I get sad for your little piggies :( if nobody is willing to help you get bottles, can they drink from bowls? You have to clean the bowls often, but your little ones will get water, at least.
So they must get it from the vegetables, if they get lots of cucumber! If they don't get water from there, something could be wrong. I hope they get liquid from somewhere
Hi GuineaDad!! Love your videos!! I have a question. My guinea pig only likes broccoli and carrots. I would love it for her to like bell pepper and cucumber. How can I introduce a new veggie without her getting mad about the fact that I didn't get her carrots or broccoli? Thank you!!
You just have to chop the veggie into smaller pieces and mix it with carrots and broccoli. Just do it gradually so she won't get overwhelmed with the new taste and just introduce one veggie at a time. Only introduce a new veggie once she finally learned to love the first veggie you introduced. 😉
They are kind of different. Herb would be considered as a supplementary and treat. pellet is supposed to be more all-around. Regardless, you'll need hay available 24/7
Does anyone know the name of the cage he has got or similar as I am getting 2 guinea pigs and need a dutiable cage ( I have researched) any tips are helpful!
This is great info! It’s awesome how you encourage the use of the packaging for houses and hiding spots. Another issue I’ve found with the plastic pigloos - one opening doesn’t allow for circulation of air. Also, my piggie would chew around the bottom of it. I didn’t see it initially but realized it when I found a solid purple poo! It was from the pigloo! That can’t be good. Thanks for coming up with problem solving products and for so much great info! And for having the cutest piggies ever-such funny personalities!
Ok uh I’m scared.. I have two guinea pigs and I love them both so frickin much!! But the scared part is because my guinea pig named Mangle is super sweet and everything but I’m scared for her!! A couple of days ago I took them out for their free roam time(so all day) and yeah uh I took Mangle out and I kissed her and I looked at her eye and there was no skin under it.. I did some research but I couldn’t find anything good.. I’m hoping that someone will make a recommendation:-)

One issue with most Hay racks is: Guinea Pigs can get their heads stuck in the rack. GuineaDad hay racks are cardboard so it is highly unlikely to get their head stuck. and the ranks make a nice snack.

We have our piggies outside all the time. New Zealand.
Weather must be good there!
would getting a shaggy kind of blanket be okay to use on your guinea pigs cage or would they try to eat it?
I love Guinea pig
Can you link where you got the grid and the insert

Thank you so much !
Guinea dad omg. Thats cute lol
Thank you 😀
If I decide to make my own cage , is it ok if the walls are plexiglass. Some places say I can give them ammonia.
Of course, using plexiglass for the walls of your guinea pig cage can be a great choice, but there are a few important considerations to keep in mind:
Ventilation: Ensure that the plexiglass walls have sufficient ventilation.
This video is really informative! Your guinea pigs are adorable :)
Thank you so much! 😁
What happens if you have to go for vacations for 5 day? Does putting 3 box of hay will they survive in it?
If it's 5 days, I would have a friend come daily to take care of the girls. I think it's more of a water issue than hay box, because these boxes can lasts weeks (of course depending on number of guinea pigs), but typically you need to fill up the water often.
Definitely have someone take care of them. Bacon was lucky stay at my mom house for 4 days she has a vegetable garden. He had a all you can eat buffet and free roaming of their dining room. Paradise for guinea pig 🤣
where do you get that c&c cage ?
Hi Kathy! The cage is from Offbeat Club. :)
@@GuineaDad thank you ! :)
Have you ever considered making in person stores, if you plan on doing that can you have a few in east Tennessee
I'm starting to learn about guinea pigs because my uncle got one and I don't trust that he will take proper care of them so I will try to adopt them
That's awesome! You have a really caring heart :) Wish every guinea pig parents are like that!
I am surprised that you didnt talk about a litter box, what are your opinions on that?
Guinea pigs can't be fully potty trained like some other pets, but they can be encouraged to use a particular area for their bathroom needs. Many guinea pigs tend to go where they eat, so placing a pee pad can help manage the mess. 🐹🥕
How long does the hay in the big box last?
How long would 1 box of way last for 2-3 guinea pigs because we might be getting some😆
Most likely 2-4 weeks but it still depends on how fast your piggies can consume one box
@@GuineaDad thank you
In case your getting a Guinea pig, well you watched this video so obviously, I suggest getting CNC grids and not buy a cage because it’s a lot cheaper, I also suggest getting the GuineaDad Liner/ bedding because it works amazing and it’s cheap compared to normal bedding! GuineaDad Hay is more on the expensive side, but it lasts a while and is very good for your Guinea pigs!
Awww thank you so much dear! Your testimony about our products truly means a lot. ❤️
How do you clean the guinea pig dad liner? Do you just throw it in the washer?
We actually have a video addressing that! ruclips.net/video/TCczXE6gLuU/видео.html
hi guineaDad can i asked where u got the c&c cage from im looking for a cages
Hello! The cage is from offbeatclub.com
Leaving it open is recommended?
Hi! Are you referring to the cage? 😊
I am hoping to convince my mum and dad to get me a guinea pig but we are probably gunna get a 36 inch cage do you have any of your bedding that size
What is the recommended size cage for 2 Guinea pigs? And would this type of cage be okay on its own?
Below you will find the recommended cage size per number of pigs but the bigger the better! You're cage szie is also perfect. 😉
One guinea pig: 7.5 square feet, or about 30”x 36”, is the bare minimum recommended, but bigger is better. (Keep in mind that guinea pigs are highly social, so it is best to have at least two guinea pigs who get along with each other.)
Two guinea pigs: 7.5 square feet (minimum), but at least 10.5 square feet (30” x 50”) is preferred.
@@GuineaDad Thanks!
I HOPE I CAN ORDER THE GUINEADAD LINER IT IN SHOPPEE
What do you do if the Dominant Guinea pig attacks and trying to hurt the other Guinea pig
You may need to separate them for good.
Is Timothy hay better than orchard hay
They are both good. The orchard hay is a populat choice for guinea parents who are allergic to Timothy Hay. 😊
Im allergic to hay. Is there something that can replace hay?
What type of hay do you have at home? 99% of the time those who are allergic to Timothy Hay have no issues with Orchard Hay. Maybe you would like to consider changing the hay type first. 😊
Even though I don’t have a Guinea pig should I still research in case I ever get one??
Yes, absolutely!❤ Doing your research now will help you be better prepared for when you do get a guinea pig. 🥰🐹
So if the pellets have hay in it do I need hay
Yes, definitely you need hay. Pellets tend to be too high in calorie and they need to be given set amount per day. However, guinea pigs constantly need to feed on high fiber food like hay to keep their stomach moving.
How do I wash the liner 😬
I am glad you asked Ashley! You have the option to hand wash them ot use a washer. Please follow the link for more information: drive.google.com/file/d/1dA_A9kAvC-sXPdqrSYC-wmWifHHVHDrT/view?usp=sharing
I want that cage but don’t know where to get it :(
Oh you mean the grey grid cage? That's from offbeatclub.com
of my 13 piggies i only have one who absolutly refuses to eat pea flakes shes a little priness who throws a fit when they come out but then turns her nose up at them and walks away
What an interesting little one you have there 😄
One, I loved the video today! Two, for Mohammed Feiswal, I hope you can get someone to help you with ordering water bottles!
@@mohammedfeiswal5634 now I get sad for your little piggies :( if nobody is willing to help you get bottles, can they drink from bowls? You have to clean the bowls often, but your little ones will get water, at least.
Like in my country there isnt liners water bottle c&c grinds and many more its like guniea pig arent realy famous or realy known
So they must get it from the vegetables, if they get lots of cucumber! If they don't get water from there, something could be wrong. I hope they get liquid from somewhere
I know
@@mohammedfeiswal5634, I use water dishes for my gang, I found they prefer to drink out of dishes. I tried the bottles and they didn't work.
Were did yo get the cage cause we have a guinea pig and this is our first one
Hi, Rochelle! 👋 We got this cage from Offbeatclub.com 😊
Can you give them water in bowls? I’m not the biggest fan of water bottles because of bacteria.
Yup! You can.
Hi! Where did you get the c & c cage from? :)
Hi Erin! 👋 We bought our cage from Offbeatclub.com 😊
What’s the link for the cage?
this is super informative, thank you so much for taking the time to make this vid! Are rabbit hutches that come with a hidey hole and ramp ok?
I have the same water bottle in the picture!!
Do you use herbs instead of pellets? I might be getting 2 male guinea pigs and I was wondering if herbs are better than pellets?
They are kind of different. Herb would be considered as a supplementary and treat. pellet is supposed to be more all-around. Regardless, you'll need hay available 24/7
Can I use a rabbit cage for a guinea pig cage? Anyone answer!
Yes of course! As long as the cage dimensions are fit for the number of piggies you have why not? ☺️
@@GuineaDad Thank you!
Hey @Guineadad ! I have a question for you: Is getting a guinea pig from someone who isnt a breeder considered adopting/rescuing?
Can you wash the liners or can’t?
Yes you can. 😊
@@GuineaDad omg, i can’t believe you replied, thx so much
@@jasminr.3837 You are welcome :) Thanks for watching our vid and commenting!

Does anyone know the name of the cage he has got or similar as I am getting 2 guinea pigs and need a dutiable cage ( I have researched) any tips are helpful!
Which one? Can you give me the time stamp so I can check it? 😊
Is it okay if I make a similar video?
I need this for my genie pig.
Your piggies will be happy :)
Guinea dad👨🏫: the hidey is made like this so they never fight and can go through⬅️➡️
My guinea pigs🐹: squeeze through the window😑
lol, do you have a baby piggies? I guess by now he or she's pretty big. Sorry about the late reply!
I'm glad you found this video helpful! 😊
Where do I find the cage
We got our new cage from Offbeat offbeatclub.com/products/c-c-cage?variant=32633108791374
Sorry I don’t understand the size, 2 by 4 ? That is… what that is in inches?
A 2x4 cage is 28 inches in width by 58.5 inches in length
Thank you!
You bet! :)
My parents were like no it’s fine they will be fine!! But then the next day there was more dried skin but now the other patch has dried BLOOD and yeah it just keeps happening.. I’m super scared!! I did some research but I couldn’t find anything good.. I’m hoping that someone will make a recommendation:-)
I would definitely bring her to the exotic vet familiar with guinea pigs to do a check. It could be mites or etc.
My guinea pig was adopted alone and has been alone all his life so I don't know if he would want to have another guinea pig with him also we can't really afford another one. Is that okay for them to be alone?
Sorry for the late reply, guinea pigs are social animas so keeping them in pairs is what is recommended!
