Mine did the same thing for me! at the sound of my voice he would start Wheeking and not stop till I picked him up and petted/ played with him. I could let him go anywhere in my parents 2 story home and within a few hours he would find his way back to his cage (downstairs workshop) and open the door with his nose to get in . This is when I was in my early 20's but now I'm 65.

And if you haven't yet, buy them the Gourmet Guinea Pig Food, that has the normal Pig Food & Dried-up Veggies & Fruits like dried-up Bananas & dried-up Carrots & whatnot mixed in it. If you spoil them with treats often, they'll be your best friend.

I've had my two piggies for almost three years now. They have a nice, big, cage that's cleaned 2 or 3x a week. They eat a big batch of Romaine, parsley, and carrots every day, with a weekly slice of apple. They've never known a moment of cruelty or neglect. And they still treat me with indignation and mild hate. They're like some former girlfriends.
one of my piggies is super affectionate and constantly yelling at me to pet him, but my other piggy is always very jumpy and doesn't love being handled. He does wheek at me, though, and he licks my hand sometimes!! It's such a good feeling to know those are signs of affection as well. I love my babies so much!!

I used to have a guinea pig called coco, and he did all of these and more, he’d follow me and call me whenever he wanted cuddles, and if I stopped scratching his head he would squeak at me, he died last month, and I still miss him, though we got a new baby guinea pig last week but it just doesn’t feel the same, this one is just scared of me all the time, Im probably being impatient but I just miss my little Coco ;^; UPDATE!! 2021 After almost a year of coco being gone, me and my New Guinea pig named Archie have bonded slowly but surely, we are doing much better and I appreciate all of your blessings towards Coco! You are all so considerate and sweet to stop by with a comment :’) Archie has changed and is now a very calm pig, he’s a bit different than coco, but is very clumsy and funny 😄 I appreciate all of you who stopped by, and hope all of those piggy owners to have a beautiful bond with your fellow pigs!

I adopted a single elderly Guinea pig yesterday after years without them. She’s so sweet and social. We had an awesome first day together. I hope she’s excited to see me when I get home from work today. ❤️
My sister used to breed and raise guinea pigs. She always made sure the ones she couldn't keep went to great homes with great people she knew and trusted extremely well. I always loved how whenever they would hear their food bag crinkle, they would squeak knowing it's time for them to eat. Same when they saw us come home. The affectionate squeaks and purr-like noises they make when cuddling or playing with them was so cute. They are way smarter than most would think. My sister and I taught many how to play fetch, hide and seek and even do stunts. Arnie was medium sized but he could actually do backflips off the side of his cage. I love them so much. It's a shame how people treat and eat them in other countries.

The more and more i learn about guinea pigs, the more and more I realize just how much I have in common with prey animals. Introversion, prone to being shy, heightened sense of fearful feelings...no wonder I understand these little animals so well!
My guinea pig died, then my other died a day after I was super upset for a few days, a few days later after they’re death I got a new one I felt bad that I got another but I am sure they don’t want to be my last guinea pigs ever. I had 3 guinea pigs, at the same time. They all lived till they were 7 & 8 yrs old. Quite long for a piggie. My three knew their names and loved to communicate. They would follow me around and they loved to be held and cuddled. They were great pets.
I act as a personal shield for my guinea pig :D Usually when there are other people around or i bring my cutie outside, he crawls on to my lap and burrows in my long hair near the neck. He doesnt do it with other family members but only with me. Also, hes really cuddly, he loves to "melt" on my chest and let out cute little sounds of content.
My guinea pig is a weird one, she almost never wheeks, but runs around her cage with excitement when I walk through the door, and always comes up to the cage to lick my hand whenever I approach it.

I remember taking naps with my Guinea Pig when I was younger. It's favorite spot was right under the side of my neck I'd always wake up to it chewing on my ear though. Lol
Meta Memez that’s okay! It can take piggies a long while to adapt to things or change their behaviors. Maybe try talking to them while you give them veggies or treats. They’ll come to associate you, your voice, and sound in general with good things :)
Give it time. Try and just talk to them and get them used to your scent. Give them lots of veggies and make them eat it out of your hand. Eventually, they’ll love you and let you touch and hold them. I hope these tips help you :)

I can’t cap until how many times my guinea pigs used to lick my hands or even when they heard a plastic bag, they would squeal and stand up waiting on the cage
My Guinea Pigs are bonded sisters and stay very close to one another, even when both barely fit in their shelter together, they are around 7-8 months old and still quite skittish when being pet and handled, we're getting there slowly at their own pace. One thing for sure is they know my footsteps and know the routine of around the time I feed them and get impatient if late.

I got my guinea pig this January, having to rescue him from a neglectful situation. He was skinny, dirty, and isolated. I took him in and started the recovery process not knowing a single thing about guinea pigs, but I wanted to do everything I could for him. I actually had this cute cuddle routine with one of my old guinea pigs. Every night at the same time I would lay on the couch to watch the news with him laying stretched out on my stomach. When I came home later than normal one night he was actually waiting for me and didn’t stop wheeking and running around until I picked him up and layed down on the couch with him. He demanded attention xD
One of the most adorable things was always when my silkie Menno would get up so slowly for breakfast that he would have complete bed head. It was so fluffy and adorable

We had four guinea pigs when I was younger. We did have a good book that told us how to take care of them, but they were also out first pets and we didn’t REALLY know what we were doing. We loved them though, and tried our best to take good care of them. Looking back now, I recognise a lot of what you mention here and it makes me so happy to know that they loved us too! It’s good to know we did something right, do thank you :)
My guines pigs lived in the kitchen (during winter and for sleeping at night) and they got to tell the difference in the sound of me chopping different fruits or veggies. They especially loved apples and cucumber and would give a chorus of excited Wheeks - slightly different for cucumber and apple. Our piggins ate all fresh food - leaves of veggies and fresh grass mostly. They never needed to drink water (neither do wild Guinea pigs) because of the water content of the leaves. Any extra "water" was in the form of cucumber. They also liked nibbling on occasional fallen dead eucalyptus leaves when in their outside runs, and especially grass flower heads.

I adopted a single elderly Guinea pig yesterday after years without them. She’s so sweet and social. We had an awesome first day together. I hope she’s excited to see me when I get home from work today. ❤️
My sister used to breed and raise guinea pigs. She always made sure the ones she couldn't keep went to great homes with great people she knew and trusted extremely well. I always loved how whenever they would hear their food bag crinkle, they would squeak knowing it's time for them to eat. Same when they saw us come home. The affectionate squeaks and purr-like noises they make when cuddling or playing with them was so cute. They are way smarter than most would think. My sister and I taught many how to play fetch, hide and seek and even do stunts. Arnie was medium sized but he could actually do backflips off the side of his cage. I love them so much. It's a shame how people treat and eat them in other countries.

The more and more i learn about guinea pigs, the more and more I realize just how much I have in common with prey animals. Introversion, prone to being shy, heightened sense of fearful feelings...no wonder I understand these little animals so well!

My guinea pig died, then my other died a day after I was super upset for a few days, a few days later after they’re death I got a new one I felt bad that I got another but I am sure they don’t want to be my last guinea pigs ever. I had 3 guinea pigs, at the same time. They all lived till they were 7 & 8 yrs old. Quite long for a piggie. My three knew their names and loved to communicate. They would follow me around and they loved to be held and cuddled. They were great pets.
I act as a personal shield for my guinea pig :D Usually when there are other people around or i bring my cutie outside, he crawls on to my lap and burrows in my long hair near the neck. He doesnt do it with other family members but only with me. Also, hes really cuddly, he loves to "melt" on my chest and let out cute little sounds of content.

My guinea pig is a weird one, she almost never wheeks, but runs around her cage with excitement when I walk through the door, and always comes up to the cage to lick my hand whenever I approach it.

Meta Memez that’s okay! It can take piggies a long while to adapt to things or change their behaviors. Maybe try talking to them while you give them veggies or treats. They’ll come to associate you, your voice, and sound in general with good things :)
Give it time. Try and just talk to them and get them used to your scent. Give them lots of veggies and make them eat it out of your hand. Eventually, they’ll love you and let you touch and hold them. I hope these tips help you :)
My piggies did the same thing for the first few months but they got used to me and even climb on me now! They need lots of patience and treats and they will come around.

I can’t cap until how many times my guinea pigs used to lick my hands or even when they heard a plastic bag, they would squeal and stand up waiting on the cage
My Guinea Pigs are bonded sisters and stay very close to one another, even when both barely fit in their shelter together, they are around 7-8 months old and still quite skittish when being pet and handled, we're getting there slowly at their own pace. One thing for sure is they know my footsteps and know the routine of around the time I feed them and get impatient if late.
Thank you so much Little Adventures for helping me on this journey with my little one, you've been such a help for a new guinea pig owner like me! I got my guinea pig this January, having to rescue him from a neglectful situation. He was skinny, dirty, and isolated. I took him in and started the recovery process not knowing a single thing about guinea pigs, but I wanted to do everything I could for him. I watched this video a few weeks after I got him, and he didn't fall under any of these categories. Now, five months later, he shows all of these! Every morning he wakes me up to be fed, then once finished eating will whine until I bring him into my bed to cuddle and sleep with me. Your videos make me smile and give me comfort knowing I'm doing things right
I actually had this cute cuddle routine with one of my old guinea pigs. Every night at the same time I would lay on the couch to watch the news with him laying stretched out on my stomach.
When I came home later than normal one night he was actually waiting for me and didn’t stop wheeking and running around until I picked him up and layed down on the couch with him. He demanded attention xD
One of the most adorable things was always when my silkie Menno would get up so slowly for breakfast that he would have complete bed head. It was so fluffy and adorable
My old guinea pig would come over and literally nudge my hand for headpats. It was the most adorable thing I’ve seen. I would happily indulge her with affection till she would decide it was enough. I miss her

How did you keep them alive so long ours only lives 3-4 years
We had four guinea pigs when I was younger. We did have a good book that told us how to take care of them, but they were also out first pets and we didn’t REALLY know what we were doing. We loved them though, and tried our best to take good care of them. Looking back now, I recognise a lot of what you mention here and it makes me so happy to know that they loved us too! It’s good to know we did something right, do thank you :)

My guines pigs lived in the kitchen (during winter and for sleeping at night) and they got to tell the difference in the sound of me chopping different fruits or veggies. They especially loved apples and cucumber and would give a chorus of excited Wheeks - slightly different for cucumber and apple.
Our piggins ate all fresh food - leaves of veggies and fresh grass mostly. They never needed to drink water (neither do wild Guinea pigs) because of the water content of the leaves. Any extra "water" was in the form of cucumber. They also liked nibbling on occasional fallen dead eucalyptus leaves when in their outside runs, and especially grass flower heads.

Based on this I think my guinea pigs love me! They hardly even do anything when I come in the room unless I wheek at them or crinkle a bag.
