One of my guinea pig sleeps with her eyes closed it is so cute, I just stare at her until she wakes and and when she does she stares and me like “were you watching me sleep?”
I imagine guinea pigs thinking "If I can't see them, they can't see me" is comparable to hiding under a blanket when we, humans, are afraid of the dark. Logically, we know a thin layer of cloth won't protect us in real danger, but simply being covered up, gives us a sense of comfort. I'm sure the monsters in the closet don't attack because they probably think we are cute and funny too

Usually when I clean the cage I put my guinea pig in a white looking basket and leave her some food while I clean the monstrous poop block she has been building over the days. Did I mention she poops in one spot?

Since the "purr" is usually a sound of annoyance/distress, when my GP did it while I was putting snacks in her bowl I always interpreted it as impatience to get to it. "Will you put the food down and leave already?!"
Mine will sometimes seem to be reacting to the wall behind their cage. I finally figured out that at a certain time of day, they can see their shadows, and seemed to be reacting to that!

I have raised guinea pigs most of my life since a teen (I am 42 now) and purring is not a sign of discomfort. Chittering (clicking their teeth fast) is a sign of not being happy. One guinea pig I owned, named Gizmo, loved to be petted and would purr the whole time you did it. He would also wiggle his butt and if you moved your hand away he would come over and nudge your hand with his head so you would do it some more. 🙂
I am working on taming my two piggies. I got them in the last three months and I’m picking them up everyday. We just started letting them eat grass in the (not-treated by pesticides) backyard. I’m hoping and praying they will one day be calm enough to look forward to interacting with me!

The girls get super annoyed and nip occasionally but never leads to brawling fortunately. I was worried I'd have to separate but when he's done chasing, they all settle down in the bedding and sleep together like one big happy family lol.
My piggy begs for us to pet him but only through the cage, he's in a spot that people walk past alot will stare till the come back and pet him if they didnt

with the purring, I've found that the happy purr and the not so happy purr have a different pitch. the "not so happy" purr is usually deeper or lower, but you really have to know your piggies and the noises they make, the average person isn't going to notice a difference. Chin tickles get happy purrs, but tummy rubs get the not so happy kind, or the "dont touch my bum" purr LOL they're so vocal but the subtle differences in tone and pitch really makes a difference. I wish I had a way to record them while using some sort of equipment that measures those things.

My piggies always do Corn Pops when I give them there veggies I just recently made a pepper surprise for them and they were very happy and they ate it all in a day! And I even made them a second one and I give them a lot do hay and some toys because it was their birthday :)

Lucky ended up picking up rummblestruting as a positive thing and now she will do it to everything she loves, it's really cute and confuses all her cage mates.

My Guinea Pigs love getting clean new blankies. They get very excited. They make lots of noise and get the zoomies. It's super cute to watch! They also know the words 'snack' and 'play'. If I say snack they run to the snack bowl talking the whole way. If I say, "Do you want to go play?" they; start squealing, run to a litter box, potty, then run up to the 2nd story of their cage and hold very still so I can pick them up.
Oof, a few of these behaviors have scared me in the past- Especially since I have a mother guinea pig and daughter guinea pig Me and my family have just decided our mother guinea pig is, not the best mother lol
My guinea pig Toni rumble struts SO MUCH! She is definitely the dominant piggy and runs around chasing the other girls and rumbling all the time. She always popcorns after rumbling!
So I’m 14 and me and my mom just recently got two female Guinea pigs and they run away as soon as I move a muscle. I’ve been binge watching videos to help them get used to me but nothing’s working, I can’t even pick them up. 😃 I guess I have to wait a couple weeks 👁👄👁
my oldest guinea pig sleeps with his eyes closed, especially when he's dreaming or sleeping really good. he's 2 years old and sometimes when i'm watching him every now and then and he's asleep, his eyes are closed and sometimes his ears are twitching and it's super cute and funny, but sometimes i wake him up out of anxiety and then he just stares at me and goes back to sleep
Sometimes my guinea pig will practically turn her head upside down to drink out of her water bottle. I've adjusted her bottle every way I can, but she still does it. She also manages somehow to backwash food particles into her bottle, so I have to clean it really well every few days. She hates having her head scratched or petted, but she loves having her hind end scratched and when she's really into it she lays completely flat like a bear skin rug and purrs then she jumps up and wheeks! She's really weird, even for a guinea pig.
basically my theory for small animals is this: the cuter it looks the more likely it is to do a lot of damage, guinea pig bites aren't fun. three or four times for me

I thought purring was a good thing if it wasn’t a shorter, “clipped” sound? Mine like being tickled under the chin and sometimes purr when I do that but it’s the same noise as when I stroke their lower back. I’m very confused now 😣
Guinea pigs arent huge fans of being tickled under the chin... Yours must like it because my old ones did. When you stroke their lower back, they will purr of scaredness :) hope this helped you out!
Thanks for the help! I’m still trying to get to know them as they’re so different to my last two. One of my piggies was curling up like a cat last night while we watched tv 😭 it was the cutest thing ever. Legs stretched out, on the verge of rolling over several times. I’ve also heard they don’t like you to touch their bellies, but when mine are all relaxed like that, they enjoy it. It practically sends them to sleep! They don’t seem to behave like normal piggies in any way!!
@@Jessica-gm4bp some piggies enjoy a belly rub but most don't. Yours must be one of the few that do. Piggies have such unique personalities you'll most likely keep discovering new things they do and don't like and it's entirely possible they will change their mind about things too. They like to keep us on our toes! 😂😂

Whenever I feed my guinea pig it teeth chatters and when I clean it's cage it teeth chatters when I refill the hay rack it teeth chatters Can somebody tell me what's wrong with my Guinea pig I called it the chattering pig
My understanding is it is impatience. Simply grumping about. They get over it quickly. It may be a situation where your pig just wanted it's cage to itself and thought it had to share with you. The whole you need to feed them but they don't want you in their cage. The same style of logic dogs follow when they want you to throw a ball but won't give it to you. "No take! Only throw!"
My boy loves to jump into his hanging hay bag. His little butt is hanging out and his little face is hidden. His hay bag has two feeder holes and he'll go through one end and fly out the other. It's so cute. Gotta love him!
DarkRosiex their poop looks normal and this is their diet: -unlimited hay -1/8 cup pellets in the morning -1 cup veggies each at night -maybe a couple pea flakes if they’re lucky :)
When my piggie “hides” she ONLY covers the top of her face like a hat (under hay) and stares at me through the hay, it looks hilarious

Guinea pigs tend to be ticklish in certain parts of their backside (near legs). When you rub there they will kick you.

Sometimes my guinea pig will practically turn her head upside down to drink out of her water bottle. I've adjusted her bottle every way I can, but she still does it. She also manages somehow to backwash food particles into her bottle, so I have to clean it really well every few days. She hates having her head scratched or petted, but she loves having her hind end scratched and when she's really into it she lays completely flat like a bear skin rug and purrs then she jumps up and wheeks! She's really weird, even for a guinea pig.

basically my theory for small animals is this: the cuter it looks the more likely it is to do a lot of damage, guinea pig bites aren't fun. three or four times for me

I have a boar that likes to show his dominance by ending his rubble struts with a jump kick. It's so hilariously cute because he usually wiffs and completely misses his target!

It's a good thing it means they're happy and saying thank you when they are unhappy they will chatter they're teeth

I love your guinea pigs and it's amazing to see someone treat their Guinea pigs so nicely and these Guinea pigs are the luckiest animals in the world to have Julia as their mum
I thought purring was a good thing if it wasn’t a shorter, “clipped” sound? Mine like being tickled under the chin and sometimes purr when I do that but it’s the same noise as when I stroke their lower back. I’m very confused now 😣
I think if they didn't want their chin scratched they'd move away like mine do so I think in that context the purring is good 🙂
Guinea pigs arent huge fans of being tickled under the chin... Yours must like it because my old ones did. When you stroke their lower back, they will purr of scaredness :) hope this helped you out!

One of my piggies was curling up like a cat last night while we watched tv 😭 it was the cutest thing ever. Legs stretched out, on the verge of rolling over several times.
I’ve also heard they don’t like you to touch their bellies, but when mine are all relaxed like that, they enjoy it. It practically sends them to sleep!
They don’t seem to behave like normal piggies in any way!!
@@Jessica-gm4bp some piggies enjoy a belly rub but most don't. Yours must be one of the few that do. Piggies have such unique personalities you'll most likely keep discovering new things they do and don't like and it's entirely possible they will change their mind about things too. They like to keep us on our toes! 😂😂

Whenever I feed my guinea pig it teeth chatters and when I clean it's cage it teeth chatters when I refill the hay rack it teeth chatters Can somebody tell me what's wrong with my Guinea pig I called it the chattering pig
My understanding is it is impatience. Simply grumping about. They get over it quickly. It may be a situation where your pig just wanted it's cage to itself and thought it had to share with you. The whole you need to feed them but they don't want you in their cage. The same style of logic dogs follow when they want you to throw a ball but won't give it to you. "No take! Only throw!"
My boy loves to jump into his hanging hay bag. His little butt is hanging out and his little face is hidden. His hay bag has two feeder holes and he'll go through one end and fly out the other. It's so cute. Gotta love him!

Is it normal that my piggies randomly stop eating for a day but then go back to normal after 10 ish hours? It’s happened multiple times
Are you overfeeding them? Does their poop look normal?
are they still eating hay?
Maybe stop giving your Guinea Pig treats for a while?
Are you giving them overly processed foods?
DarkRosiex their poop looks normal and this is their diet:
-unlimited hay
-1/8 cup pellets in the morning
-1 cup veggies each at night
-maybe a couple pea flakes if they’re lucky :)
