Hi Julia!! This is Ursula from the Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue! I am so thankful that you made this video because I can't tell you how often we get people at our rescue with the wrong cages. Our top two requirements for adopting with us is proper cage and multiple piggies just like you said! Thank you for being a proper advocate to these amazing little friends 😊
Ursula!!!!!!!!! I love you. You and everyone at Saskia's rescue are angels. Tell Scotty to stop making fun of your hair (hehe). I watch you religiously and love what you devote your time to - gpiggies 24/7 it seems! The piggy left by the gate and Buddy are just two reasons that I love you. Plus, you brought "Preston," now known as the amazing Spaghett together with Its Pigs! Spaghett and his herd rock my world like Julia's Little Adventures do!
I love you and your work and I so agree. Julia and your rescue changed my piggies lives ( I had a tiny cage and one pig and then I saw the videos from your rescue and little adventures and got another pig and a bigger cage)
Hi, can we please draw some attention to this video. I believe this is a dangerous situation for the guineas involved and I believe if enough polite attention will get this youtuber to learn. ruclips.net/video/rCR56GZKK6I/видео.html
Matěj Foltýn I wanted to get my guinea pigs a cage like she has were it is very open and big but since I have dogs I have to stick with ones from the pet store. The cages at my petsmart are way bigger than the ones I see on these videos so I guess it’s okay :(
Please do, they will absolutely love it! And I promise you, it will be so much more fun with you as well. They'll be much more happy and active, running around and playing :)
Golden Eclipse you can even purchase a Midwest cage already made with a lid for 60$ on Amazon it’s plenty of room an protection you don’t even have to use tools it’s Velcro
ive said it before and ill say it again, pet store companies care about your money and not your pet if i hadnt come across little adventures in my research my three pigs might still be in a cage that was only meant to fit one small rabbit. that, and my poor baby might have been alone for her entire life (we have three now, in a cage that takes up a quarter of my floor space haha)
I'm afraid to tell my parents my guinea pig needs a bigger cage and another piggy as a friend. We used to have two, a father and his son. But the father died of old age. I highly doubt my parents are going to want to buy my guinea pig a larger cage or another one as they dislike having to take care of him. My dad calls him a rat-
@@ladysnepii I would probably have a herd but my mum is slightly allergic. Having two makes her have an athsma attack so we had to keep them in another room. Now I only have one so we keep him with us
It makes me so sad knowing my guinea pigs lived in those conditions. I was like... 7, and my parents got my them as a christmas present. Well, one pig at a time, so they both lived alone. :( To be fair, this was back when no one really used the internet and the most information you could get from pet keeping was by getting those shitty care books in the petstores.
Don`t blame yourself. You were only 7 years old. Parents need to do research on the pets they buy for their kids. My parents made the exact same mistake.
I feel so bad for my two boars that I had when I was like 9 or 10. I did not have a smart phone at the time and we didn't have a computer at that time so I went to the library and got every book I could find about guinea pigs. The books were unhelpful in terms of how to care for them properly so my poor boars had to share a store bought cage. When one of them passed away, we didn't know guinea pigs actually need companions so we didn't get another. We also didn't know about having to clean a boars behind (I forget the actual term for that). I feel so sorry for my two boys, I wish I knew better at the time so I could've given them good lives
I have no excuse, but when I was 11 I got my guinea pig and he was in a tiny cage all by himself for so long, I did absolutely no research and was even going to the pet store for a chinchilla and they didint have one but I was impulsive so just got the cutest thing I saw wich was a guinea pig. I did everything I thought I could and honestly thought I was a good owner, he was in a tiny cage for so long wich I fixed now but I can only do the minimum amount of space because I dont have that much space in my room, (I'm 13 almost 14 now btw) but im still trying to get another piggy but im scared it's too late but its probly just me trying to make excuses, I'm gonna ask for another Guinea pig for Christmas but that's still so long and I probably wont even be able to get another one but I'm just gonna have to keep trying i guess, i love my piggy but i still feel so guilty about how long he was in a tiny cage and the fact I just cant have another guinea pig (yet I hope) this was really ranty but this just seemed like an ok place to put this
Lucky. I showed my parents this, (I have only one guinea pig in a tiny cage [he hates me for a reason]) and they say I’m too bad of a pet owner to be responsible enough to get another pig. I’m too bad of a pet owner to get another. Yeah.😒
@@birdyghostly - Aww 🥺 I know how it feels to not have your parents listen, but if you just keep trying to do more chores, do extra work and feed your piggy without your parents having to remind you, they might let you get another. Keep trying, I believe in you, and good luck! 💕
The second mistake I made when I got my two piggies but then I found your channel and then I realized that I needed a bigger cage so me and my family made one that kind of looks like yours and since the cage is bigger I can have more piggies so now I have 4 thank you for showing/telling how to take care of my piggies and other peoples piggies.
When I first got my guinea pigs my mom said that we had to get only one guinea pig first then get a second one after two weeks! But luckily you are a youtuber and I showed my mom and she changed her mind and I am just thankful that you have this channnel thank you so much
yes it is better if they have a partner, but just make sure that your giving them quite a lot of attention and play time together so they dont feel alone all the time!
@@lorawilson939 that's good! as long as you spend a lot of time with her she shouldnt be so lonely. i would just REALLY recommend getting her a mate, i cannot stress that enough. :)
same i just got a female guinea she had a male with her but the person gave the male to somebody else, now i feel bad and am desperatly searching for a new enclouser and guinea to give her company
The pet shop I got my Guinnea pigs from only sold them in pairs. Once there was 3 pigs and if you wanted to get them you had to adopt all 3 edit: i 1000% agree with the pet shop
The pet store I went to to get my piggies told us that in certain places it was illegal to get only one... we came home with three because they were all sisters :)
Hello! My Guinea pig recently got an ear infection😢. She survived, because we noticed it right away and brought her to the vet. Can you do a video on Guinea pig sickness symptoms? She had some strange symptoms and I want to prevent death for other guinea pigs. Thanks, and I love your videos!
I wish I'd known all of this when my babies were around. I was doing my best considering what I knew/thought I knew, but I seriously messed up on multiple levels. I'm really glad that you're educating people and also thankful to have some guinea pig cuteness in my life, now that my piggies are gone.
Ya... these RUclips videos put soo much love for there pets that one guy made a entire video recommending to turn the entire basement into a pet farm. There is no end to the mania.
I was watching this around my guinea pigs and at 8:32 when they wheeked they looked at me so confused and just froze lol remind me not to watch guinea pig vids around them
My piggies spend most of their time in their playpen, which allows them to play together, but they have their own cages because they like to have their own space sometimes!! Their cages are right next to one another so they can still see each other and "WHEEK" at one another, and it's really cute because if one is in her cage while the other is heading back to her cage they'll stop at the others' cage to see each other!! We LOVE your videos btw and your cute little furbabies!!
My stepdad gave me 2 guineas as a Christmas gift, but he never gave me instructions or anything. So when he first told me to clean the cage I had absolutely no idea how. It’s been about 2 years and I feel pretty sad for princess, not to long ago my other guinea died from a cancer tumor. And I really want her to have a new friend and a new cage. I have to admit I don’t have the best cage for her, I have a 14’inch by 2 feet and she has been sleeping a lot, also I’m to shy to ask my mom for all these items so I’ve been asking little by little. And I have a small room so I have to make it work. I’m gonna get rid of the bean bag and her old cage ( once the new one comes in the mail ) and I really want to room train her after I get gates for the side of my bed and door area. Lol I tend to talk a lot but thank you for making me realize I can’t just sit and worry I need to actually make some changes ❤️
Because of you, I was able to get good information on guinea pigs for my son before we bought our guinea pigs. I didn't stop with you though, even though you're my favorite, I looked for as much information as I could find. It's so difficult to not get more piggies and give them a good home and I fear I'm losing the battle
@@vishivanka7028 Imo, a pet owner should treat their pet the way they would want to be treated. They're cute little sentient beings & their quality of life is important. ☺
I have two piggies and your videos were eye opener for me, two months ago i build my diy cage and my piggies are living their best life and the are much happier. Thanks to my dad and his contacts my cage costed for me 0 euros ❤️
My guinea pig was raised alone and he was very social with me, my family, and friends. He seemed very peaceful and happy. He passed away last year from old age. I miss him ❤
@@draalttom844 If my guinea pig was alive and could talk, he'd tell you how much I cared for him. He was my priority. If he was tortured he wouldn't have lasted 8 years. Besides, the vets would tell me he was a happy and healthy guinea pig when I'd take him for his yearly check ups. But he passed away from old age. He lived a long and happy life with me ☺
I feel really bad now cause I just got my guinea pig a couple months ago and I love home with all my heart and my parents said I could only have one cause my house is really small and that we couldn't afford a second one, I did tell my parents how important it is to have two and they said when we move we can have a second one, this video was real eye opener thank you so much!
We gave up on trying to provide an enclosure space that was big enough, our boys just free roam the house now. Our space is their space (with a few modifications so they don’t nibble anything that could be dangerous for them)
I try to do this untill we will move to different appartment. We plan to move in 6 months. And then we want to get them bigger cage AND let them go around the appartment. It is hard because rn I live in small appartment...
I kept my oldest guinea pig alone for three years because at the time I was ten and I only wanted one and that was the best decision we have made for him. He feels like the king of this house and it is so adorable. Our youngest guinea pig literally shares cages with our oldest by his decision
Thank you so much for helping people and guinea pigs everywhere! My two pigs used to live in a 3 square foot cage and, thanks to you, they now live in a 16 square foot enclosure. Edit: their cage has grown to 24 square feet 2nd edit: their cage is 32 square feet now 😅
When we 1st owned piggies there was no such cage longer than 1 metre, we solved this by connecting 2 cages with 100mm tubes. Today we can buy c&c cages which are brilliant. We have a cage that spans our living room & kitchen so our piggies have over 5 meters of run. Our piggies love it & love to run.
Sadly, when I first got my piggies they were very small so I bought a small cage not realizing that they were gonna get bigger. (ik it's bad but I didn't know) I started with 2 pigs, but after I watched your videos you explained what size cage they need, I quickly got a new one. Found out my 2 girls weren't actually both girl like the pet store told me. We ended up with 2 babies but sadly had to re-home one of the babies. So now I have 3 pigs. One fixed male, and 2 girls. (Mom, dad, and daughter)
I’m glad that when we went to the pet store a couple years ago to look at guinea pigs, the cage they recommended for us was(probably) the largest one in the store, wich was 140cm by 60cm I think (We didn’t get guinea pigs but I still want a pair haha)
I am not sure of specifics but toys that allow them to pick it up or include treats are always good. Such as treat sticks which you can hang up or wooden balls (which are not big enough for them to get stuck in!) filled with hay or something similar. I'm sure if you spend a lot of time with your pigs they will be happy regardless thou
Guinea pigs dont really need toys, but you can give them food stimulation like putting food all over their cage, or hanging it up so they have to reach it. A toy most piggies love is just one you can find in your house, a bare cardboard toilet roll. You can cut holes it it and stuff food in it. I believe little adventures actually did a video on guinea pig toys so I'd look through her videos.
The best toy I ever got was the hay ball. It is a round metal cage that you stuff hay inside. I took it off its stand and my Pepper likes to roll it around the room and pull hay out. I only use it for floor time because its big. (Kaytee Rollin' the Hay Dispenser)
People too often confuse the minimum size with the optimum size. Like, "oh, I have a 2x4, isn't that generous?!" - "No, that is just the bare minimum."
@@prinzessinleia8113 Have you heard about C&C cages? Cubes and Coroplast? They are pretty common in the US and UK and their sizes are usually described in how many grids. 2x4 means two grids by four grids. One grid is about 35cm. So a 2x4 is 70cm by 140cm. Which is an area of 1 sq m (or 10 sq ft). In Germany we have Songmics instead. Their grids used to be just 30cm, but they have expanded their range and nowadays they also have 35cm grids. I hope this was helpful!
Thank you. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I'm an animal lover, so I will prevail. These girls are loud and needy, and they QUICKLY grew big. Your advise has helped me greatly. Thank you.
This. Watching his vids have been seriously stressing me out. Also, he doesn’t supply enough hay at all, and it’s in a horrible rack that would too hard for the piggies to reach. It’s terrible :( :(
Emma Boudreaux yeah the food is garbage!!!! And all the hay in the back yard will not be fresh anymore!!! Minds well throw most of it out cause it is gonna be dead soon
That video of that youtuber finding a guinea pig in the dumpster really upset me because I read a bunch of comments saying it was fake and it saddened me someone would do that for views.
Im under so much stress when i think there are so many pigs that live in a very bad conditions, sometimes i wish there wouldn't exist such a thing as pet shop
I didn’t start off bad - I had a giant hutch with 2 g-pigs. I have 4 now and they all free roam. It’s so adorable, when they hear me opening the fridge all 4 of them run into the kitchen and sit down on the cat bed and wait for me to finish cutting their veggies. 😂😂
Im getting 2 Guinea pigs and I'm buying a pet store cage(100cm by 46cm) They're going to be free roamed in my room basically. I also have 3 hamsters to look after as well so it would be bigger but obviously I have to pay for all of them. I have a passion for animals and my dream job is a zookeeper. So I will be looking after all my pets on my own.
I have a cage that size... I don't have space or money for one like yours. My piggy is allowed to run around my room often which definitely makes her happy, and she also runs in circles in her cage
I don’t know how to take care of a guinea pig but then I say your videos and started watching them and I really learned a lot of things about guinea pigs from you thank you and I encourage you to don’t stop making videos I love your videos!!!!💪💪💪💪💪💪💪👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😀😀😀😀😀😁😁😁😁😅
We're doing the same... Got them yesterday but it's just a ridiculous size for the store to suggest... Will all be here on Saturday and I can't wait to get it all set up for them 😊
I see you watched Jacob's video, as he was the kind guy who saved that piggy Ginger from the trash bin behind a pet store! I mean, if they hadn't been goofing around, looking for free stuff and whatever, that piggy would have died. I was so happy at first at what a kind young man he seemed to be (taken aback really, at someone who seemed so caring at his age. Then I saw the cage. I figured, well at least he saved the piggy and he is going to give it to a shelter or something. I was surprised he kept the pig. I was kind of sad that the pig was just in the hallway by itself, with the big scary world around it. Then he did get the newer cage on advice of the commentors (I was one of them). Then I saw that that one was very small too. With all the stuff in there, it seemed even smaller. Then he realized that the pig would be lonely, so he got it a mate. I don't think he thought about that one was male, one female. Oy vey. Then I was freaking out at the openness of the area the pigs were in with a DOG AND a CAT easily accessing them. I just...I had to stop watching and hope the best for the pig and its mate and that they hopefully will have a better life than the trash bin (that was heartbreaking beyond words). Thanks Julia for your video and your fantastic space for your piggies. You and Its Pigs and GuineaDad have palaces for your pigs.
@@alterego924 WTH do you mean? Do you want me to send him cash just because he is one of thousands making videos? I had guinea pigs for over 33 years and I didn't expect cash to come my way just because. I use to foster and also did my best to see the piggies had the best life possible, always putting them first (often times before me). I was positive in my comments to Jacob, in terms of thanking him for saving the pig and making simple suggestions (as I do in other situations where I see this). I try not to attack people because that will do no good, nor will they listen, but I am not going to really advocate for them either. I don't see you doing anything either but making assumptions from your parents' basement (sound like a good enough assumption to you?).
i’ve actually had my guinea pig in pairs for a while but didn’t work out at all. so now it’s just him and i’ve had him for over 2 years now and very happy and healthy. i think i just got lucky with mine. we just give him a lot of attention like they need
Tips if you get a small cage and you have already gotten a much better one: 1. Make it a litter tray, I believe you Can litter train your guinea pigs so if you want to do that then you have a littler tray already 2. Make it a place to hide, put a blanket on the top of it, put comfy stuff inside of it so your pigs Can hide and snuggle in there 3. Do what ever you want with it as long as your guinea pig isn’t living in there for ever Your welcome :)
Thank you for talking about that youtuber who did the dumpster guinea pig videos, it's very easy to tell that he didn't do any research and it's pissing me off because that guinea pig is suffering and he's just using the piggie for money with the videos he makes. I hope he sees this video
@@Austin.D I didnt realize that peta had authority to do anything lol. I think making people aware is a much better use of time than sending letters to peta. Peta isn't animal control lol
We used to have cages like that when I was younger, and there were 4-5 in there! We really had no idea what we were doing and wondering why they kept dying so fast :( The 5 I have now live in a large 4-story custome made guinea pig flat, so are (hopefully) doing a lot better :)
My dad recently got one Guinea Pig (named Caramelo) and I keep telling him two would be better since their social animals but he doesn't really seem to listen. Another is that he bought Caramelo a reslly small cage with a really big hide out... and nothing to play with and I keep telling him and sometimes my mom that we need to buy him a bigger home because it's to small. I honestly don't get why my parents buy a Guinea Pig and don't bother to interact with him or give him proper care. Gets me mad all the time.
Tbh I would give it to a rescue and tell your parents it had passed away, you’d be doing the poor piggy a favour. They can die of heartbreak and loneliness 😞
Try taking to your dad gently. You're probably exparessed but try to make him understand in k8nder words. Maybe he is afeaid they'll breed? Maybe you yourself could get the luttle one a biggr cage?
Thanks for the info! We’re trying to get another guinea pig but it’s been proven difficult because of ours past experiences. He’s very skittish and doesn’t do well with other guinea pigs, we hope to find him a friend he’s comfortable with so he can be generally happier
When I first got my guinea pigs I had a cage like that and my guinea pig would chew the bars and have fights with each other, now I have a 6x2 c&c cage and they love it
I am very ashamed with myself, when I was 7, I was begging my mom to get me a guinea pig for my 8th birthday. She did, they were brothers and I loved them both very much. I was so young and I didn’t do any research so you can imagine what happened. I took absolute horrible care of them, (only feeding pellets every 1 or 2 days, keeping them in a tiny cage, no hay or veggies, no play time and very little interaction with me). At first they were kept in my garage on a table right outside the door, (I would put frozen water bottles in there with them during the summer) but 1 of them passed away in less than a year (I have no idea how he passed but I imagine it was a heat stroke or dehydration). Then after that happened the last one was kept on the floor in my kitchen but my little brothers kept trying to get to him, so we put him outside on a bench. It was around winter time and it was freezing out there, there was thunder and lightning and usually where I live we get very little snow but that year there was a TON of snow. I didn’t go out there to feed him, water him, or even clean his cage. Eventually I felt really bad for him so I asked my dad if he would go out there with me and clean up his cage, when we went out there he wasn’t alive and I just started bawling. I bawled when the first one died as well but now that I’m older, when I think about them I feel really bad because I know it was my fault they passed. I now have 3 rabbits and they make me very happy but I really just wish those guinea pigs could have had a better life without me in it.
It wasn't your fault. From what I read, you really did care about them, you just weren't very disciplined (since you were only 8). Your parents underestimated how hard it would be to take care of them and it's not fair to blame yourself. Now you know that proper care is very important for small animals, and you can help other guinea pigs by making people aware of it.
You shouldn't blame yourself, you were a child! If anybody is to blame its your parents. They shouldn't have expected a kid to take care of two animals, and should have done so theirselves
Ugg my pet store has this note on one of the guinea pig tanks saying "hey I'm kinda mean to other pigs so I need to be housed alone" and I see families see this and assume all the Guinea pigs on there own. (The pet store near here, also calling out thatttt youtuberrr i wonder whooo!)
I had 2 piggies, they had to be separated bc they fought and actually started to bite each other and make them bleed😢 once they were separated everything was all good, their cages were right next to each other so they could still talk and hear one another
I love your videos so much. ( but I just wanted to say I got a single guinea pig and after a few days warmed up so much to me and know is the best guinea pig ever this might be different to different guinea pig because all guinea pigs are different. my guinea pig loves to popcorn and be held. this is not a hate comment. a single guinea pig can be great if you have the time to spend time with it, ( I do bc I'm homeschooled and I have time to be with it all day and play with it, spend time with it, stuff like that.
Yep, petstore cages are small and crazy expensive! I can't diy cages (unless it's zipping c&c grids together) but paying someone to build it is still way cheaper and bigger than petstore cage
I’ve been trying to convince my parents to get me a pet for over a decade! But they are finally accepting the idea of getting a guinea pig but since my parents are quite strict I don’t think they’ll allow me to get more than one. They also will probably try getting a small cage since they don’t like things that take up too much space. As much as I rlly want a pet, especially a guinea pig, I don’t think I could give them the ideal home. I’ll try to talk to my parents and see what I could do but it will be difficult. ;-;
Oh sweetheart I had the same problem but I bought the right size cage behind their back lol (before I got my guinea pig) and I also was only able to get one you need to understand you have to dedicate most of your time to it since the piggie won’t have a partner it’ll be extremely dependent on you I recommend you getting a different animal instead piggies are a lot of hard work consider getting another pet guinea pigs need a lot of space :(
@@PiggieTime yeah all i know is they both need plenty of room because i live in australia we dont have hamsters im going to check what pet uses the least room except for fish
I rescued my guinea pig Tigger and he was alone. We tried giving him a friend but they would always fight. he has lived alone for his whole life and has had a lot of love. He also has a run outside. Also he is quite old almost 5. He usually lives in one of those cages that you showed in the video, is this okay? X
I would still give him a friend tbh. Sometimes 2 guinea pigs don't fit character-wise, but they will get used to each other after some time. Once I had 2 guinea-pigs, but one unfortunately suddenly died, and the other was alone just for a few days, but she seemed sad/ down the whole time. Your guinea pig will be happier with a friend. And regarding the cage size, you could buy 2 big cages that open at the sides and connect them, so they can jump from cage to cage. I'm not that good at building cages (yet?), so my family has connected 3 cages
I find that it depends on the pig, if you have tried multiple times to give your pig a partner, and he rejects them, than as long as he has plenty toys and places to explore, he should be alright. Some pigs are like this, they just won’t accept another pig in their space. This is okay. Just make sure that he has a plethora of toys and things to do, otherwise he will become bored and this can lead to many health issues. As long as you are certain that he is happy without another pig, your pig should be okay to live alone
I really appreciate your videos, I've learned so much about piggy care from you. We got our first boar when he urgently needed rehoming so it's been quite a learning curve to make sure we are giving our boys the best care we can. We've recently moved them to a C&C cage which is great for space and cost effectiveness. We also have a cage just like the one you showed (for post surgery care), and it's genuinely quite mad to me that reputable pet stores advertise these cages as suitable for permanent homes. Ideally everyone should research before committing to care for a pet, but at the same time it's really sad that you can't trust that products are fit for purpose.
1. Making them swim. Total cruelity. Never put them in water unless bathing them. Hold them while bathing. Best size 3ft by 8-10 ft is best. Check out Saskia at LA Rescue. This is a good travel cage.
I actually noticed the 2nd mistake with my two pigs. I felt like it was too small and that they were feeling cramped. I looked it up and managed to find them a new cage! (80 bucks, but worth it) they seem much happier in their bigger cage, and I see them roaming and popcorning a lot! RUclips should have recommended this video to me sooner!
@@Holypikemanz it's been quite a while since I got it, and I threw away the box it came in years ago. I believe I bought it second hand, but it wasn't opened. Sorry I can't be more help
My first guinea pig (in pfp) R.I.P. was raised alone and turned out extremely happy. In the last year of his life he had a small friend. I think it is ok but you might need to be lucky.
What if your still a kid and your mom thinks that the cage is just fine? How can I convince her to get a bigger cage, even though we live in an apartment in New York City?
You should be convincing your mom to help you find a guinea rescue. Sounds like your home isn't condusive for guineas. You shouldn't have brought it home to begin with if you didn't have the space. I understand children like pets around, but parents should really teach their kids how to care for the pets instead of putting a tiny creature in solitary confinement for a child's amusement. You need to put it up for adoption. Or continue to watch it be miserable for its life. Your choice i suppose.
I used to have a cage roughly the same size and we compensated by putting said cage in our garden most summer days. However now that i'm grown up i want to have a real nice enclosur once i can afford to have guinea pigs! I love guinea pigs and i can't wait to have some again ❤️ thx a lot for this very useful video
Is it ok to have that smaller size of cage if you only have one guinea pig? Btw we did have two guinea pigs but one dies, but we are giving her lots of care so hopefully she isn’t too lonely 🤞
I've had guinea pigs in the past and I have 2 now. They are my absolute babies I love them so much. They have 2 hutches, an inside one and an outside one, and even though the outside one is big and roomy enough for them, I have always not been happy with their inside cage especially as they spend the most time there. And so I got my mum to help me rearrange the whole room so I can put a new and spacious hutch in the room and it's coming tomorrow i'm so excited!!! My guineas will love it too :D
my friends have three guinea pigs in two small cages. I want to send them this video but I dont want to seem like I know everything about guineja pigs and ruin our friendships.
Quinlin's LPS Blessings I had a small cage for my guinea pig. And I thought it was fine until I got a bigger one and I realized how much they like to roam around. And I do know it’s suppose to be two guinea pigs but I’m not aloud to have another one.
I know that my piggies need a much bigger cage... but my parents just won’t let me get one. We also have cats, so my piggies can’t have an open roof, and due to where I live they can’t be outside. I don’t know what to do, cause I want to give my pigs a good life, but I still live under my parents rules.
My last guinea pig ruby spent the rest of her life on her own after her guinea pig friend named Baby passed away, we honestly had no idea they shouldn't be on their own she acted completely normal after her friend passed on so we didn't have any Ideas that something was wrong about her situation, so this was an eye opener for me

Hi, Ursula :D!
Does everyone at that rescue have really cool names? Lol
I honestly need to build my piggies a bigger cage. This was an eye-opener.
Matěj Foltýn I wanted to get my guinea pigs a cage like she has were it is very open and big but since I have dogs I have to stick with ones from the pet store. The cages at my petsmart are way bigger than the ones I see on these videos so I guess it’s okay :(

ive said it before and ill say it again, pet store companies care about your money and not your pet
if i hadnt come across little adventures in my research my three pigs might still be in a cage that was only meant to fit one small rabbit. that, and my poor baby might have been alone for her entire life (we have three now, in a cage that takes up a quarter of my floor space haha)

It makes me so sad knowing my guinea pigs lived in those conditions. I was like... 7, and my parents got my them as a christmas present. Well, one pig at a time, so they both lived alone. :(
To be fair, this was back when no one really used the internet and the most information you could get from pet keeping was by getting those shitty care books in the petstores.
Before I Got My Baby Guinea Pig That Was 4 Days ago Btw I Read a Book of Guinea pigs And Also Did Research in my Phone :V
Same oh my goodness I feel bad for my two piggies :(
Don`t blame yourself.
I did everything I thought I could and honestly thought I was a good owner, he was in a tiny cage for so long wich I fixed now but I can only do the minimum amount of space because I dont have that much space in my room, (I'm 13 almost 14 now btw) but im still trying to get another piggy but im scared it's too late but its probly just me trying to make excuses, I'm gonna ask for another Guinea pig for Christmas but that's still so long and I probably wont even be able to get another one but I'm just gonna have to keep trying i guess, i love my piggy but i still feel so guilty about how long he was in a tiny cage and the fact I just cant have another guinea pig (yet I hope) this was really ranty but this just seemed like an ok place to put this
I only have one guinea pig I showed my mom she said we can get two

Is there and toys u recommend buying for guinea pigs?
I just want my pigs to be Happy and then i will be Happy to
That's awesome 👍 I'm sure your guinea pigs love u
Vishi Vanka thx :D
People too often confuse the minimum size with the optimum size. Like, "oh, I have a 2x4, isn't that generous?!" - "No, that is just the bare minimum."
2x4 what? 🤔

Tips if you get a small cage and you have already gotten a much better one:
1. Make it a litter tray, I believe you Can litter train your guinea pigs so if you want to do that then you have a littler tray already
2. Make it a place to hide, put a blanket on the top of it, put comfy stuff inside of it so your pigs Can hide and snuggle in there
3. Do what ever you want with it as long as your guinea pig isn’t living in there for ever
Your welcome :)

You shouldn’t blame yourself, that’s in the past and you can make better choices now. Everyone learns from experience. Have fun with the buns! ❤️💕🦦
Ugg my pet store has this note on one of the guinea pig tanks saying "hey I'm kinda mean to other pigs so I need to be housed alone" and I see families see this and assume all the Guinea pigs on there own.
(The pet store near here, also calling out thatttt youtuberrr i wonder whooo!)
the nervous looking around that Gatsby was doing in that tiny cage broke my heart!
I have 3 guineapigs this is how many people loves them
👇🏻
I have 4 because recently my female gave birth to 2 😊
I had 2 piggies, they had to be separated bc they fought and actually started to bite each other and make them bleed😢 once they were separated everything was all good, their cages were right next to each other so they could still talk and hear one another
This is how my girls are set up. They just don’t get along. It’s so weird!
When I first got my guinea pig I bought a cage from the pet store for like $100 but to build one only cost me about $50
Yep, petstore cages are small and crazy expensive! I can't diy cages (unless it's zipping c&c grids together) but paying someone to build it is still way cheaper and bigger than petstore cage
If u wanna use/ buy that cage u can use he bottom as litter box or u can use it as a traveling cage I accept that
I love guinea pigs and I have had 5 guinea pigs all my life. These videos have really taught me a lot about guinea pigs and what they like. ❤️
Yay big cages!
I’ve been trying to convince my parents to get me a pet for over a decade! But they are finally accepting the idea of getting a guinea pig but since my parents are quite strict I don’t think they’ll allow me to get more than one. They also will probably try getting a small cage since they don’t like things that take up too much space. As much as I rlly want a pet, especially a guinea pig, I don’t think I could give them the ideal home. I’ll try to talk to my parents and see what I could do but it will be difficult. ;-;
If they won’t let you have proper care, I don’t recommend getting piggies at all. Maybe a hamster? They live alone and don’t need as much space
Oh sweetheart I had the same problem but I bought the right size cage behind their back lol (before I got my guinea pig) and I also was only able to get one you need to understand you have to dedicate most of your time to it since the piggie won’t have a partner it’ll be extremely dependent on you I recommend you getting a different animal instead piggies are a lot of hard work consider getting another pet guinea pigs need a lot of space :(
@@PiggieTime hamsters still need a lot of room
Draw,Fun &Easy yes I completely agree!! But 450 square inches is less than 8 square feet
As long as you are certain that he is happy without another pig, your pig should be okay to live alone
sasha Van de weyer thanks
There is a guy named Scotty that does videos about guinea pigs. He has a video on his page that will help you with info about this.
Daniel G thank you so much! That really helped!
Me and my sister have 14 piggies but they have a very large room all to their selves, they are in pairs of 2 and they get the best of care. 🥰❤️

That’s what the guy at the store told me when I first got my guinea pig and I agree it’s false
My parents made both mistakes, I got them to buy a second piggy, but I cannot get them to give them space
I don’t even have a guinea Pig, I have a hamster. Why am I watching this?
Because its fun
The care requirements are extremely similar so you could learn something
Because guinea pigs are better
It is so nice. Caring for pets. Maybe Hamster Likes it?
Sis I have rats 😭🐀
RUclips should have recommended this video to me sooner!
what was the bigger cage called? where did you get it?
@@Holypikemanz it's been quite a while since I got it, and I threw away the box it came in years ago. I believe I bought it second hand, but it wasn't opened. Sorry I can't be more help
When my boyfriend started hearing wheeks coming from my phone he knew wassup 😂
You should make a gastby chill cam compilation 😂
They already did one
My first guinea pig (in pfp) R.I.P. was raised alone and turned out extremely happy. In the last year of his life he had a small friend. I think it is ok but you might need to be lucky.
What if your still a kid and your mom thinks that the cage is just fine? How can I convince her to get a bigger cage, even though we live in an apartment in New York City?
I’m in a similar situation
You should be convincing your mom to help you find a guinea rescue.
Sounds like your home isn't condusive for guineas.
You shouldn't have brought it home to begin with if you didn't have the space.
I understand children like pets around, but parents should really teach their kids how to care for the pets instead of putting a tiny creature in solitary confinement for a child's amusement.
You need to put it up for adoption.
Or continue to watch it be miserable for its life. Your choice i suppose.
Maggie May wow this was quite passive aggressive
Maggie May it’s okay me and my mom got a bigger cage
@@vidaiscool that's so awesome. Congrats. Im sure they'll enjoy and you will also. Well done
I used to have a cage roughly the same size and we compensated by putting said cage in our garden most summer days. However now that i'm grown up i want to have a real nice enclosur once i can afford to have guinea pigs! I love guinea pigs and i can't wait to have some again ❤️ thx a lot for this very useful video
this video taught me alot of tricks for my piggies thank you so much !!!!!!!!
Is it ok to have that smaller size of cage if you only have one guinea pig? Btw we did have two guinea pigs but one dies, but we are giving her lots of care so hopefully she isn’t too lonely 🤞
I love how she was talking about Jacob Feder's video
when i first upgraded my cage, my pig still seemed stressed but he's so much better now!! i hope to get him a friend soon
Don't worry about that. If you too were real friends, ur friend won't really care because your improving the life of her little furry potato
Quinlin's LPS Blessings I had a small cage for my guinea pig. And I thought it was fine until I got a bigger one and I realized how much they like to roam around. And I do know it’s suppose to be two guinea pigs but I’m not aloud to have another one.
@@lilybohall3765 wait so u have 1 or 2
Just do it ive done it and it was awkward but she listened
Send the link saying- aaaww! Look at these adorable GPs, or look at the awesome castle these GPs own. Make the suggestion humorous 🤔.
I got 1 guinea pig last year then the next day my dad (who had guinea pigs when he was younger) went to get another one 😄
omigod! my dad had a guinea pig too, when he was around my age!
My hamster cage is bigger than that I couldn’t imagine having my piggies in one of them :(
I know that my piggies need a much bigger cage... but my parents just won’t let me get one.
