Scott, Wow all I can say is you out did yourself on these 2 videos! It reminded of days gone past when the family would tune into the Sunday night movie of the week. The camera work, music and of course your commentary should earn you a RUclips award. No kidding these were fantastic! 5☆'s for the production of these videos and thanks for sharing. Yes this is a destination trail.
Thanks so much for bringing this joyful trail to us. And congrats and your seemingly endless ability to control the weather! You never fail to ride on anything but postcard-perfect blue sky days! Awesome!
Morning. You know what they say about rainy days and Mondays. To is retired people every day is the same. It's nice to get up on Monday morning and watch something that gives a smile and joy. Thank you.
Great video! Loved the history of the trail and amazing that it has withstood the test of time. Thank you for sharing and we loved hearing Donnie’s story how they tried to out run the train lol the things teenagers do 😅. We are still giggling over the lady’s “pit stop”story. I think all of us ladies can all relate 😂. We are always uplifted, inspired and entertained by your shows. Please keep them coming!
Another fantastic video. This trail certainly stands out in its field. Virginia history rates very high on my list. Having lived in Williamsburg, Va during my working years, I can vouch for Virginia and its history. I’m looking forward to your videos of the 57 mile New River Rail Trail in Virginia when you get there, hopefully soon. Thanks for sharing the video.
@@carrollleopard1961 Thanks! Yes, the new river has been on my list for a while and I was going to do it this fall, but then Helene came through and I understand did a lot of damage. Plus, some of the trail was already closed for construction prior to the hurricane. So maybe I’ll tackle it next year
I didn’t realize how invested I was in the star rating! I literally rewound when I saw the “Five Stars” to make sure I heard it right. I literally said out loud, “Wow! He doesn’t do that often!” Amazing video. Loved the music choice! Epic! 24:04
Thank you for another great video, Scott! Absolutely beautiful scenery and well executed. My better half and I will make that a destination on our travels this coming year. BTW... Better half called me in to watch the video on the big screen TV and to our surprise, especially his, you had a really funny responding to comments story. But I digress! LOL Thank you 😂 5 Stars for the trail and the video
Ha! You have to be careful what you put in the comments section… you never know what’s gonna make it into a video lol. I thought that was just too good a story not to share. 😂
Finally!!! Waiting 7 days for part two seemed like forever. 😮 It was well worth the wait. Your videos are awesome and well put together. Really like all of it. You must have great balance to ride and film. Have you ever dropped the camera pole or hit a tree branch or tunnel? Hope not. Thanks for your amazing videos.
Actually, I HAVE had some run-ins with tree limbs and low overpasses! I have to go kind of slow and just concentrate on what’s going on… I’ve gotten better at it over time. 😬
Just wanted to thank you for posting this. I live less than 30 miles away and had no idea we had such a nice place to ride so close. I've ridden the little short Victoria rail trail. Can't wait to check this out soon!
Another great video. I look forward to each and every one. Going to try and ride next spring. Just a note about the Virginia Creeper Trail. The upper part from Damascus to Whitetop is closed. The hurricane took out 18 trestles. The lower part, Damascus to Abingdon is open. Please let people know about this. Damascus needs some love and business.
@@rljohn53 Thank you. Yeah, I heard about the creeper. That’s heartbreaking. In fact, somebody connected with Abingdon reached out and asked if I still had all the raw footage from my videos there and I sent them everything I had. They’re gonna try to use it to help get funding and help get everything back the way it was. Hopefully they’ll rebuild, but I know it will take time.
WOW! A destination trail! I will have to plan a trip! Thanks for the preview 😀 And who can resist going to a place named Farmville? (I sent the link from your part 1 to a friend who used to play Farmville all the time and she flipped!)
This was an awesome series. Just found your channel. Have you been to N.E. Ohio? We have the Ohio to Erie canal towpath. From Akron we can ride past downtown and up into the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. There are bridges and tunnels and tons of nature. At one point the towpath even goes out across a lake. The Cuyahoga Valley scenic railroad can even take you and your bike one way and you can pedal back. It's beautiful in the spring, summer and the colors of fall ❤
@@TurnipGreen Thanks! Yes, the Ohio to Erie is definitely on my radar. I’ve watched videos on RUclips and would love to make one myself and experience it. My problem right now is that I still work a full-time job. But retirement is looming…🙂
Another great video and trail …. Added to our destination list Now with all do respect your attempt at music and “PUFF’s all we can say don’t give up your cycling videos or day job……
I live in Appomattox and ride that trail regularly. It heard from the Park Rangers they will be extending that path to Burkeville. Right after that picnic table at the end of the trail there is a creek. I suppose building a bridge across that creek may be one of the reasons that section hasn’t been completed.
I’ve been waiting for part 2 of this trail since I found your channel. It didn’t disappoint. Btw, those rhymes you spittin’ are dope…do the kids still say “dope”?
Thanks for the great video! Now we have to do this one. Have you tried the Route of the Hiawatha on the Montana and Idaho border? I like your music much more that the Lady of Rage, lol.
Ha! Thank you. No I’ve never been on any of the trails out West. I definitely have that on my to-do list. I retire in about three years so maybe then I can make it happen.
Part 1 already had me thinking about a trip to see this trail. Certainly looking forward to that next year. But now I'm wondering, which is the OTHER trail that you've also awarded the "destination trail" title to?
Scott, Did You Notice The High Bridge Design? Notice The Off Set In The Track Deck, And What Looked Like Room For A Second One? There Are A Number Of Tall Bridges That Are Build The Same. Iam Not An Engineer, But It Looks Like It Would Throw The Structure Off Balance. I Guess The Mass Of The Structure Its Self, Makes No Difference. When A Little Train Runs Across That Some Of The Trains Exceed 20K Tons.
Hi Scott, I was wondering how you get your bike into the hotel room. Do you book a ground floor room? Do you prefer the stairs or elevator? Thanks for the video review of this trail.
I usually call ahead just to make sure that they don’t have any issues with me bringing the bike in. I usually just wheel it right in through the main lobby, past the front desk … and I have found that if I back it into the elevator, there’s usually enough room.
Okay, I'm back. Excellent video! Maybe my favorite to date. I totally agree this looks like a DestinationTrail. Hearing you read rap lyrics from The Lady of Rage was NOT on my Bingo card for this year, but here we are. Great music to go along with the scenery. Love the history of the town and the trail. Annnnnnd the Fishin Pig looks like it may be a Destination in itself haha. Thanks again, Scott, for taking us along with you. I know it's a lot of work and I want you to know that I appreciate it.
