I won’t ride on the road without my Varia radar. It’s that good. But, and this is important, you have to use it with a mirror or looking over your shoulder. Without being able to see behind you, the radar is just a countdown to a possible collision. The radar tells you when a car is coming, and how many. But a mirror tells you if they are giving you room.
TPU tubes are great, but I would not use them as a tubeless backup. As they are so hard to fix on the trail. Get another puncture from a thorn say. and you would be in a heap of a mess. TPU work great though as a backup for when using tubes. Just throw the TPU in and patch the tube later when get home.
Frame pumps are great but as a purely road cyclist with old school tube tyres I use the Silca Tattico. Mounts on the bottle holder, extends to about 3/4 the length of a frame tube and is cheaper. No problem with it getting covered in gunk because I don’t go off road. What about top tube bags - the small ones for carrying gels etc? Any recommendations?

Is there a cordless handheld powerwasher worth buying. While cycling in Japan last year our tour organizer provided us with one to clean our bikes after wet rides. It had a battery and a plastic hose with a filter you dropped into 5 gallon bucket of water. It worked great but it was a no name brand written in Japanese. I see similar items online but they all have dodads and built in wands. I like the small size and the fact that you can get right up to the bike and direct the spray where you want it. What do you use? Is it small to store when you’re done cleaning up? Have you reviewed mini powerwaskers. Keep up the good work and oh yeah, Happy Thanksgiving. I am very grateful for your channel.
I’m in eastern Canada, and ride outside tear-round, used to race cyclocross all fall. For that I bought a cordless jet washer, since they are often needed at races without proper pits. It was ok for that, but since I stopped racing in 2019 I’ve not needed it at all - hence forget the brand - since I’m always washing outside at home after rides. I recommend a very simple method that costs perhaps nothing to try for a while: bucket, hot water with dish soap, microfibre rag, maybe a gear brush or similar. Usually one bucket is all I need for a full wash, and it takes 5mins. If you use hot wax or a drip wax, you prob won’t have to do much to the chain beyond rinsing. For most folks there’s not going to be real benefit to a power washer, more likely just liability: driving water into bearings and grease out.
Not a powerwasher, but those hand-pump garden sprayers are super good for washing with. Come in various sizes, in cold weather I fill mine with hot water and a bit of soap right in the tank, then just spray the bike down. Just enough pressure to take off mud and stuff, but not strong enough to mess up your bearings and seals (which is the big danger with an actual powerwasher if you're not very careful where you point it).
@@ChlorophyllCrusher thanks for the input. I live in SouthCental Alaska and end up riding in rain or wet road spray for much of the 7 months I ride outside. A garden hose kind of works but it uses a lot of water. I do use a bucket with warm soapy water but there are lots of places that are hard to get clean. I do prefer to clean my drive train after each wet ride including chain, front and rear sprockets and cassette. This hand held we used last summer was very quick which equals more likely to clean bike every time it needs it. Since I’m in the lower 48 now I’ll check out the Ryobi at Home Depot while I’m here. Thank you for your feedback mate.

If you get to the point you need to use a tube in your tubeless setup you better have a few good tire boots with you. You’ll need to cover the whole in the tire that your sealant isn’t plugging.
Just tried TPU tubes for the first time. Absolute garbage. I’ll try another brand but the RideNow ones I tried both failed after the first ride. Not tough. No neither were pinch flats, one was a glancing blow from a staple - fine - but the other was the valve to tube connection failing.. I’m surprised you run tubeless but not a waxed chain.
@@EverythingsBeenDone You should. But with every wax, be it hot soak or drip-on, you need a *really* clean and fat/oil free chain and cassette before you apply it. If you think it's clean, degrease once more. Also, let the wax dry before you ride (at least overnight, some drip-on waxes may need even longer, if you applied to much. Once the chain is waxed, though, maintenance becomes so much easier. After the ride, run the chain through a dry rug, done. Once the chain becomes noisy, drip on another coat of wax and wait over night. That's all.

Love dynaplug. But they need to fix their distribution to Europe. I luckily still have enough spares, but their products have been out of stock everywhere for months. I keep recommending them to friends but they can't buy any.
Gosh this stuff sounds so expensive. I use a wrist mirror and it picks up every car , cyclist etc coming past. $30. Wouldn’t ride without one. I had the fly lights with built in cameras, lasted the length of warranty then dies $700 all up now in junk drawer. Now use middle of the road lights.
Oddball post ride kit that's also super comfy? That's easy. Utilikilt and boots. The kilt is surprisingly cool or warm; change that with some tall wool socks as needed. Get the benefit of 'airing out' after the ride, and yeah.. its just a bit different. And it also serves as a public changing area; kilt on, shorts off, done.

Phonetically the name is FYELLräven,(Fjällräven), Great pants/trousers to wear. They are not a fashion item, more a piece of equipment that you use. Only downside is it's time consuming to waxproof them. But hey, you can't have everything
super helpful things here. Thank you!
@@EverythingsBeenDone No probs, glad i could help😉. BTW, an after thought, ä is pronounced ea as in yeah, if that is any help/use to you. (maybe not?)😀
@EverythingsBeenDone What's the brand of those metal panels and accompanying bins that you have on the wall? I would like to add these to the bike corner of my garage.
Ah I think I've found them. Look like they might be Akro-Mils?
I'll never understand the fear that cyclists have to wearing the little rear view mirrors on their helmets. $10-$15 and it does the job. I've never had the neighborhood kids line up pointing and laughing at me. Maybe it comes down to shorts that are too tight - "challenging" ones manhood . . .
Shut up already
I've been using a Takealookactive mirror for years. They are cheap at $25, made in USA and attach quickly to my glass's. They offer a big view behind me so I know what exactly is coming up behind me and they are priceless when navigating through several lanes of traffic. You acted as if you are two vain to use them. Just remember, most non cyclist think we look like dorks anyways.
Got me a megapill for 60£ in the UK last summer... I've now never had issues with tubeless and getting home.. Highly recommend them. Never riding without them. Massive slashes also get sealed by using a few of them.
Does that Coros Dura Head unit let you increase the size of turn by turn (for us folks wearing contacts for distance)? I'm 51 and can't read my text on the direction page.
Aaron thats a very interesting question. I am not sure off hand. MIght have to dive into their website
@@EverythingsBeenDone Sent their customer service the question and will report back.
@@EverythingsBeenDone Coros rep replied to me this morning, "I’m afraid increasing the size of 'turn by turn directions' is not available". Seems that no head unit across any brand or platform does. Garmin, Hammerhead and Wahoo all sent me the same reply. Bummer for us older blind folks.
The font size cannot be adjusted on the TBT directions, but it is relatively large! Usually this is not an available feature on Bike Computers for TBT.
9 - winter video also please. Love the watch suggestion in this video - hadn’t even realised these things pair with head units.
DK! I want to love the Coros shoutout because I have one of their watches and am considering the Dura, but I'd love a clearer disclosure on your affiliation. It sounds like Coros sent you the head unit? Did you receive any compensation for featuring their gear in videos? Love the content, just want the full picture ❤️
They did send me the head unit. The link is an affiliate link as well. I truly do think that head unit is good value. I like their watches but the head unit is where the value is IMO.
@@EverythingsBeenDone heroic, thank you!
Hey mate! Have you got a link to the coloured storage bags? Thank you 😊 0:55
The first half of the video was a product placement add for steady rack! How come it didn't get a mention. I think they are well worth a mention... Very aligned with dynaplug mind you
Great content as always! I also own a Dura and havent charged it since i received it in October. Could you share which exact k-edge mount that is? Narrowed it down to the race mount but the side profile isnt quite the same. Just want to make sure itll be long enough for the Dura
Maybe check the Ryobi 18v EZ clean ? Looks interesting
Use to have a NOMAD 12v pressure washer. It eventually crapped out. It was handy.
So what’s so great about that Bell helmet? I have a Fox Crossframe Pro with fidlock and more back of your head protection than that bell. Still prefer to ride with a peak on my mtb helmet though…
Thanks for this nine. Tubes are the way to go. I have been de greasing from the early 90's.
What mount do you have for your varia? Looks like it had a nice boa dial instead of a rubber band
Came for the gear tips, stayed for the flawless Hakeem Jeffries impersonation.
Love my Fjallraven Vidda Pants, I have had them for years
You should definitely do a winter/shoulder season gear review. You wear a lot of Gore products, but what are your favorites?
9 .... This is one video of yours I have been waiting for ... Thank you!
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@EverythingsBeenDone Loved it .... Answered lots of my questions I've had over the years. Thanks again!
Does anybody know how the Apex watch works (or doesn't) with full tattoo sleeves? Only downside to full sleeves is smart watching not working.
This is a great question question! I was wondering, the exact same thing my tattoos are actually around the area that the sensor is so I can't speak to that unfortunately.
Great video! I wear a men's size 15 shoe (50 EU) - got any recommendations for me?
Want an inexpensive cleaner/degreaser that leaves no residue? Rubbing alcohol! I keep it in a spray bottle.
What is with the white exterior wall on the shed marked "healthy". It looks shiny like a white board.
Thanks for a nice mix of kit. I Iike the idea of an alternative helmet strap buckle. I hate stopping for coffee and fiddling with s recalcitrant buckle.
New stuff is cool but making old stuff that we sll use ofen better to use is cooler.
Hi can you review the COROS Dura pls
All about the changing poncho - Pedal Industries makes one that I like a lot (they also make a duffel for bike travel/race day).
Their bags looks great. No packing cubes needed 🤣
Buycycle link is not working. Can you please help?
LMK if this link works for you

Where are you based out of?
If you get to the point you need to use a tube in your tubeless setup you better have a few good tire boots with you. You’ll need to cover the whole in the tire that your sealant isn’t plugging.
so wise!
Even easier, liquid wax. Just apply after every wash. No degreaser necessary.
I should really try this
@@EverythingsBeenDone You should.
That's all.
How bout a test of the CLASSIFIED 2 speed rear hub? Its been reviewed by PEAK TORQUE, where he used it to delete the front derailleur on a gravel bike. I think i would be great as a 2 speed single speed , a commuter gear and a mtn trail gear.
Ive very interested in this!
How warm are those Vidda Pro pants? I am a warm running sweaty guy and I struggle to get the pants situations right when I'm hiking and riding. I'm often just running tights under the shorts.
I find them to be a middleweight pan not super hot not super warm with that said I did find two options for you
This one is vented. I believe it's the same as the regular with vents.alnk.to/d3DlmsI
In this one is out of the "G 1000 air material" which I don't have any personal experience with, but it seems like a lighter version of the regular, which sounds like something that would be a match for you: alnk.to/bitLyk0
it kinda sucks because co2 canisters have the potential to be really good for the environment by being probably highly recycleable but as usual we are lacking the infrastructure! maybe its time to make a start up!
we Could always ride with a TUBI Booster...LOL
Lance armstrong was also an advocate for gear
Can you do a video on gloves?? Please and thank you!
This is a great suggestion
Do you run into any issues with that watch and your tattoos? Some have issues reading heart rate
Agree on Dynaplug, tpu tubes and Varia, but forget degreasing your chain, it’s time to wax
Definitely the winter gear video.
Haven’t gone on a dirt ride without my dynaplugs in about 4 years, must haves
Liked the chanel much better when you road bikes and had fun with friends
We will just have to end our one sided relationship
Oddball post ride kit that's also super comfy? That's easy. Utilikilt and boots. The kilt is surprisingly cool or warm; change that with some tall wool socks as needed. Get the benefit of 'airing out' after the ride, and yeah.. its just a bit different. And it also serves as a public changing area; kilt on, shorts off, done.
Totally into this!!
Love the video!
Saved to bike favs.
need to improve my game.
btw
Link to the watch does not work for me (i'm in Brazil)
head unit + watch here is almost 6k lol
Your shirt is amazing. Which brand, please? Regards, Inaki
More videos with the black heart please ❤
9 ... guidance on the essentials is much appreciated
Thankfully, your video popped up in my recommended videos, because RUclips didn't notify me of an upload. They better quit playing with my emotions, when it comes to my DK videos.
9, also second "non-cycling gear" video.
Love the gear but that shirt!!! Cream with snaps at the beginning of the video! Who, what, where? Need that for my hubby
I put links to everything in the description so always check there first.
but I got you
👕Button down Fleece I was wearing: alnk.to/gVM0Wvu
Thanks . Struggled to find it in the links.
Yes - on non-cycle gear for cycling is a great idea!
Come on my man. I changed a ladies tire super quick with CO2 and kept the ride going relatively quickly. Jerking off on a pump sucks
9. That head unit sounds like the kind of thing I’ve been looking for.
"They handle packaging." is deceptive. I have sold some bikes on Biycycle before. Yes, it is the best way to sell or buy used bikes. They send the box and pay for shipping. The seller dismantles the bike, buys packing foam, plus needed zip ties, and packs their own bike. It might be worth a tweak on your ad read because it isn't totally accurate
Dinky bird wrists! 😂😂😂 Its a sign of great health and longevity!
Don't know if tubeless is essential, on the MTB it is, on the road bike it's just a PITA.
I actually don't need a video to knowthat most gear out there isn't worth buying.
The Coros head unit looks nice, but I've got a Garmin Instinct 2x and will probably stick with Garmin.
smart, highly suggest staying with the eco sytem you are already working with.
9 - Awesome vid, keep up the great content!
I'm a big fan of tires on my wheels.
