The bench separators are to keep people (homeless) from sleeping there. One of the best trails you've been on. I find the fact that there are more animals than humans, wonderful.
A doe and her two fawn (fawns?) literally crossed the trail right in front of me...and I couldn't get my camera out in time. But I did get a glimpse of them crossing the creek. On the benches...yes, I thought about that but wasn't sure. Heck, you know me...I just wanted to deliver my punchline... 😂
Thank you for showing Kingsport in such a positive way. I spent many hours biking the greenbelt while grieving the loss of my Mother. Still enjoy it today. Very much enjoyed your perspective of it. Thanks for visiting us.
There’s a fairly new trail in Bristol, Va that is called the Mendota Trail. Goes to Mendota, Va and is around 20 miles round trip. It goes through mostly wooded and rural farmland, has many bridges, and has one huge trestle bridge crossing high over a large river that is gorgeous. It is very rustic and not very used yet, would be a perfect choice for your channel. I’d love to ride it with you any time to show it off.
Thanks for the 4 star rating. I have been riding the Greenbelt year round for over 25 years. Kingsport continues to pay great attention on how to make the Greenbelt better for it’s users.
Woohoo! You did Kingsport proud! We love our Greenbelt here. We live close to the Exchange Place and if you’re ever here again, please let us know. As to the dividers on the benches, well, I hate to say it, but the dividers are so nobody lays down to take a nap. Lol. Yes we know it’s not beautiful everywhere on the trail but most of it is. Thank you Scott, for coming here to ride the Greenbelt in Kingsport TN! Great video! We’ll take the four stars and run with it. We love it here.🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
I really enjoyed the trail (as you can probably tell). I didn't get going good until around 11 a.m. as I recall...so I really had to hurry and cram it all in. Now that the "official" trail videos are made and posted, maybe I can meet up with you guys sometime for a return trip to this one or the Tweetsie.

We heard about this trail the last time we rode the Tweetsie trail. My better half and I set out to ride the trail and I had trouble finding the trailhead at Cleek Road. At that time period the trailhead looked sketchy at best, not due to the neighborhood but the lack of parking and no signage along with random piles of debris. Thank you for this video. I am blessed to live 1 mile from the new entrance, so I love riding it. It does like all other things have some down sides, because it is so close to the creek that any hard/full rain floods a lot of the path. You know...I thought Johnson City seemed larger, having been there recently to ride the Tweetsie Trail. I got that info from Wikipedia - "It is the largest city in the Kingsport-Bristol metropolitan area, which had a population of 307,613 in 2020." So I guess the "Kingsport-Bristol metropolitan area" does not include Johnson City?
I love watching your videos. Very well done. But, you have cost me a lot of money. I had to go out and buy an Insta 360 camera. And then I had to the accessories like selfie sticks, bike mounts, extra batteries and chargers. And yet, my videos are no where as good as yours. I watch your videos and pick up little tricks each time. For me, your videos are 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Ha! Sorry about that! ($$$)… I actually get complaints now and then from people who don’t like the 360 - they say it’s “disorienting” (whatever that means)…but I have just found that it is the best way to give an overall sense of what the trail environment is like. Because you see so much more than with just a GoPro. Thanks for watching and keep having fun with that camera!
You need to brush up on your bird ID😊. You mention a Blue Herron while what you have a video of is actually a cormorant. Nice work on the trail video tho!
Thanks for this. When he said Blue Heron, I immediately backed it up to take a double take, then started scrolling to see if someone else caught it. Double Crested Cormorant. Beautiful. Thanks to Scott for this indispensable, entertaining, informative and picturesque vlog.
Yeah, you guys got me... I really am clueless on bird ID. All I knew was that I THOUGHT that bird had the basic body build of a Herron and he looked like he was standing there waiting to pull a fish out of the river...but it didn't happen and I got impatient and moved on.
Beautiful trail. A new one to me. Loved the wildlife and river views. Thanks for sharing the video. You’re going to see 5000 subscribers real soon because you have excellent videos. Invite Peter Santenello (RUclipsr) to go on a bike trip with you and he’ll help increase your viewership. He has over 3 million subscribers.
It’s a great trail. I have found that the 360 camera is the best way to give an overall sense of what a trail environment is like… Because you see so much more than with just a GoPro. Perhaps what you’re responding to is the “tiny planet” effect and that’s more of a novelty thing that I tend to only use on RUclips shorts.
music must go, can you focus more video on the trail and not yourself, that would be nice, sure your anice guy and all you seem to be but I want to see the trail, it is a beautiful trail. you do seem to be better onthat front on this video, kingsport was teh area that hobo shoestring would take ot on trains, he did alot of videos and I miss watching them as he died a few months ago due to health issues he was dealing with. just had a thought if you want music in your videos ow about dolly partons wildflower song? that was a cormorant not a heron. lol
Yeah, that was a guess on the bird. I'm not a bird person...LOL... Look, I have stumbled onto a format that works for me. The music's not going anywhere. Each video contains a "music video" with a variety of shots that show people what to expect if they ride that trail themselves. Yeah, there's a few shots mixed in there that actually show me so as to mix things up, provide a little variety. If you hate the way I do things, there's TONS of other channels with crooked GoPro footage, some with music, some without. Maybe you should just watch those channels. I would hate to lose you as a viewer, but this is the third time you've made your discontent known...and I want you to be happy. ; )
You should wear a helmet. You’re one mistake away from death. Even if you don’t want to wear one, other people will watch you and think it’s OK to not wear one.

@@joyfultrails Of course I don't mind, I enjoy it a lot. I am always making fun of myself. I believe that is called self-deprecating?
let's see a great ride on the New River Trail in Virginia-Maybe better than Creeper?
I am hoping to do New River in October! Can't make any promises, but that's what I would like to do. Gotta make sure I can change a flat before I tackle that one. 😂
Best part of riding these trails is at the end when you can devour worthless calories, knowing that 🥧🥤🍰🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨you made room for them.BTW, if you iver get the chance you should explore Hilton Head, SC It's got great trails.
Nice video as usual but Kingsport is second largest city in the tri-cities. Johnson City has 72,000+...
Must not, but JC is the largest in the Tri-Cities.
Elizabethton is the smallest of the Quad Cities.
Plandemic. Love it!
😏
Beautiful trail. A new one to me. Loved the wildlife and river views. Thanks for sharing the video. You’re going to see 5000 subscribers real soon because you have excellent videos. Invite Peter Santenello (RUclipsr) to go on a bike trip with you and he’ll help increase your viewership. He has over 3 million subscribers.
@@carrollleopard1961 3M?! Wow… Thank you for the encouragement. I appreciate it. 🙂
Certainly will plan a ride on this trail. But the 360 camera is disorienting!!

Tons of people moving to Kingsport from places they screwed up , traffic is terrible here . This place gets worse everyday .
@@weed491 Greenville, SC, where I live, has the same problem!
