Just saw it now after 3 years! I never saw this very interesting documentary of an overhaul factory of the Būssing. Because of the low quality of the fuel both the DB 601 and the DB 605 necessitated continuous overhaul, often every 50 hours flight because this kind of low quality fuel it was very hard on the engines. I don't know on what part was the hardest but I suspect that it was the the piston rings and the seats of the valves. At the end it was not much difference with the overhaul factories in England regarding the Rolls Royce Merlin engines.....

Jep they had 87 octane fuel its a marvel that they squeezed so much power out of the DB600 seriers it was a very advanced engine to cope with that
with fuel injektion and an variable supercharger
most of the engine management was alredy fully automatic.
I know a good channel who speaks a lot about the technology of the ww2 warbirds

@@tobiaszistler sorry if I'm replying only now but I have not noticed your reply! Thanks for the info as I looked immediately this video that I found it very interesting👍! In my very modest opinion this arrangement of the turbocharger had to do with the fuel injection making it more efficient and permitted an automatic regulator which permitted the pilot to concentrate on flying and the throttle! Finally some writers claims that the hydraulically connected turbocharger absorbed lot of power but also the turbocharger of the Merlin was no joke!

@@paoloviti6156 the hydraulic coupling was better then the valve on the merling series, as it takes a lot of losses to it. the coupling allows a surgefree working. the past the most engaged on to maintenance was the exhaustvalve because of the economy steels used , so the chrome plating, first used in the BMW 801 could resist to max 50 hours, thats where you get the interval between overhauls. it's the exhaustvalve corroding because of the TEL in, the fuel to get the C3 fuel B4 could be used also. what you need to read is : the secret horsepowerrace, bij calum douglas!!!!!!!!

Antony Sutton’s books reveal Standard Oil already had a tetraethyl agreement with I.G.Farben in the late 1920s
By 1938 tetraethyl factories already existed in Germany, and even then, in 1938, Germany paid $20 million for
reserves/stockpile, and it was shipped to them-
So one would suppose they had the option to reach the desired octane they wanted.
The hydrogenation/ synthetic gasoline and oil from coal was from Standard Oil and they later tried to hide or obfuscate the truth. They wanted the synthetic rubber technology/ monopoly from the Germans
