I've been an Aykroyd fan since I was a little kid. Ghostbusters, Blues Brothers, Dragnet, Trading Places. Loved watching him in SNL reruns and got to see him live at Bluesfest in Ottawa years ago, and that was fantastic. Guy is a true renaissance man. Absolutely love the guy.
@@tipofthefingercomedy5071 Bill Murray has done podcasts. I think he's just hard to get in touch with because he doesn't have an agent. I think he tends to do stuff like that with people he already knows personally. He also likes to be spontaneous and not fill up his schedule with "gigs" far into the future.
@@quintenlizardmen2497 - been watching these from the beginning (fall of 2022) and wouldn't consider it rushing to have Bill on at this point. Besides, like a lot of folks, he would have been my first choice as the one I most want to hear from regarding the early days of SNL. It's not a criticism or complaint, just wondering when or even if it will ever happen.
I wished this was on video! Dan Aykroyd is the absolute best. Besides the many well known movies and characters, I really loved him in the movie Nothing But Trouble. He was incredible as the judge!
I subscribed to you guys six months ago with a dream you'd get Dan on and today that dream has come true. Sending lots of love from Wisconsin, right between Madison and Chicago 🎉❤
I just discovered your podcast. It is so wonderful. It brings back such good memories of your exceptional comedy. Also, I love Dan Aykroyd's voice. It is so soothing. It was really interesting to hear what he has been up to and listening to his perspectives as well. The three of you have such repoire with each other that it reminds me of what it is like to be around good old friends...if you got'em.
I was introduced to Coneheads via "The Best of Saturday Night' reruns on Nick at Nite(I think) back in the early 80's, I was 4 or 5, and I loved it! The Coneheads movie is something that I will stop what I am doing and watch it whenever it's on!
I love when Dan starts naming things that go in Vodka, he’s clearly a man who knows his spirits and famously would tend bar, including at his own underground club
Now we just need Billy and Jane to be on to have an episode with all the OG's (I know Billy came in yr 2 but he is still an OG no matter that. It also would be nice to have episodes remembering Gilda and John.
Loved this episode! Great to hear mr. Aykroyd riffing with the boys. Will we get to hear from Tommy Davidson someday? It would be a treat for Dana and David to get into the worlds of comedy and performance beyond the orbit of SNL: black comedy clubs, 'In Living Color', Spike Lee's films etc... Mr. Davidson is a legend and would be a great guest.
The Couch Trip 1988 with Walter Mathau was a comedy filled fun funny movie. Dan and Donna + Charles Grodin. Am sure Dana knows it Love all Dan's legendary sketches on SNL, movies,, Trading Places and so many other classics for sure. Peace, Love, and music Y'all
Bro i had no idea you had a podcast!! Just saw you on bad friends and now im hooked to this podcast!! Video would be amazing though but this is good too.
How am I just discovering that Dana Carvey and David Spade have a podcast togeather? What time line did I just shift into? I would think this would be more popular already.
I went to school with Danny at Pius X HS in Ottawa. We have had two get togethers when he was in town for a musical happening with Downchild Blues Band and another random encounter organized by his Cousin Tom. Danny had the innate ability to mimic a number of the teachers at Pius X .. The dye had been cast early. Great show with Dan. You guys always make me laugh. Keep it up. Don
@@p42uynot59 😂 good point. Great example of why I shouldn’t comment on things at 4 am. Although I know he was a Blues brother 😎 it didn’t cross my mind at all lol
There are comedy "bona fides"; and then there are, "comedy bona fides!" And both of these levels of comedy "cachet" rank below Mr Dan Aykroyd's. He WAS there when it all began SNL-wise and in the mix to the max. Legendary ain't an exaggeration.
Akroyd u legend...btw, does Dana Carvey have a much more expensive and better microphone cause the Spaderdoodle sounds like he is taking from the bottom of a well...LOL.
Aykroyd should make a strain of cannabis to go with his vodka. Then I could enjoy it while I watch Aykroyd movies. (Can't wait till the new Ghostbusters) Thank you Dan.
Maybe he can make that better because the CH vodka he makes is not worth the price whatsoever. I've had a few times and it's not bad but it's triple overpriced.
Probably not, because he was the only one they had early on who could do impressions, which is the main thing that carried the show throughout its lifetime. Gilda and John supplied the original character concepts while Chevy and Bill got by on their personal charisma.
I do not believe in ghosts, but I like all Ghostbusters' cartoon and live action movies. In real life, I think ghosts are the chemistry and electrics of the brain and what environment a person is around. Got to relax as much as possible. Aliens, unidentified flying objects I can see existing, because humans are on their way to doing the same thing with interstellar space travel. Other species must have practiced it around us. Catastrophic events on or near planets would interest others to get away. Survival.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Dana and his family!
@@sapiens8billionthis was a month or two ago. The reference was for the upcoming sequel to Afterlife.
OK, one of the legends. Makes you wonder when the great Mr. Murray will make an appearance on the "Fly on the Wall" with Spade and Carvey.
From what I understand, he’s too much of an asshole to have a friendly conversation on a podcast

That would be amazing. Bill Murray doesn't make a lot of appearances like that.
Thank you so much for this interview .Dan is a king of a human being and Canadian icon. All those great characters He created on SNL with such mastery
Dan's the best. And I respect him so much for researching and exploring the unknown and enigmatic outliers of reality.

I wish this podcast was on video. I guess David and Dana don't want it there, yet they have some of the best interviews...
Dan is fascinating. It's a pleasure to listen to him speak because he has so many various interests and experiences.
Dan Aykroyd is a certifiable genius hands down!
LOVE him! This is the one I've been waiting for!!! ❤❤❤
The only guy I would compare my feeling for him would be John Candy. Both legends in my mind.
just like SCTV's: Eugene Levy, Martin Short, Joe Flaherty, Rick Moranis & Dave Thomas ("Strange Brew") or Andrea Martin.
Dan Aykroyd is an absolute legend ghostbusters ,blues brothers ,Coneheads all that he is incredible . Hes one of the people i look up to
Trading Places was great, and the Chevy Chase and Demi Moore movie with Dan A, Nothing but Trouble was impressive if disturbing
Doctor Detroit is a bit dated but still good for a laugh.
met Dan a few times, once with my gb car in chicago in 2009 and at gb fan fest in 2019. One of the nicest most humble people around.
My family loves the movie Nothing but trouble. It is a classic in my house.
I absolutely love Aykroyd's personality and talents. I first laid eyes on him Episode 1 of SNL in 1975.

Another great episode.
Love to Dana and his family!! Aching for you....
Dan Aykroyd is such a brilliant and unique talent and individual. Would be fun to drink his vodka and listen to him.
Watched the first SNL. Loved it. Love it today. Great stories from wonderful human beings. Cheers

I am the biggest fan of Dan Aykroid. He is the best of snd.
Love the show. Would really love to have video on these interviews, both David and Dana do a lot of physical comedy stuff we can't see this way.

Love this interview with Dan.
Great interview. Just FYI, "Hold that Ghost" is Abbot and Costello. Scared Stiff is Martin and Lewis.
Absolutely!!!!!
I loved Dan's impression of Jimmy Carter! Especially in The Pepsi Syndrome when he grew to be 90 feet tall!
59:22 "The medium talent people are not so nice." Spade chimes in with a whimper of recognition. 😄

dan needs at least 2 more episodes to get in all of his comedic stories
Dan Aykroyd is such a legend! He, Phil and Jon Lovitz are my top 3 cast members of all time.
(Dana and David are good too 😉)
Incredibly underrated. Love Dan Aykroyd. Thank you
Dan Aykroyd is NOT UNDERRATED.
He prefers to FLY UNDER THE RADAR...LOL

Blues Brothers, Trading Places and Ghostbusters all rocked! Funny guy.
My favorite role for dan is the son of jessica tandy in driving miss daisy...

Nice to hear something about Jerry Lewis that doesn’t mention or lead off with his personal life. LOL. Great show guys. Dan’s a legend.
I saw the Blues Brothers at I believe Universal Amphitheater. They were so good.
Jerry Lewis had a heart attack during Cinderfella walking down the stairs. 34:48

great interview.
Dans gotta do We might be drunks podcast. He’s a GOAT for everyone over 50. Thank god I’m over 50.
stellar!

The Chris Katan thing Aykroyd was talking about was Suel Forrester. I love the air traffic controller one.
Always a class act!
Just an FYI guys, "Hold That Ghost" was an Abbott & Costello movie (not Martin & Lewis). Looking for the stairs scene Akyroyd mentions!

Dan made $125 million off two Ghostbusters movies. Insane.
Spade, get Patrick Warburton on the podcast! And, Happy Holidays to you and Dana.
That's great bass
