Now THIS is INSANE. I wait all day Sunday to see who Bill will have on and I almost screamed when I saw it’s Bryan Cranston. One of the greatest actors of all time, easy.
he's an amazing, best actor alive as far as I know.. not a high standard, but I think so many "actors" today, even the ones I like, are very single dimensional and just play flavors of themselves. Cranston's range and ability is extremely exceptional today. He's like.. Neil Degrasse Tyson is to physics what Cranston is to acting. Which is to say if you go deep into theater you'll find more professional actors, but they are academic and not willing to deal with normal people. It's hard to take the serious academic skills into the popular entertainment realm. All that praise despite my opinion is he is off the wall wrong about the race stuff. Have to emphasize that. He's wrong about the race politics stuff in my opinion. Ok. He's still being very reasonable on all the topics they discussed. Maybe he's just busy applying his amazing skills to produce things that make my life more enjoyable. So he's clearly influenced by someone woke and less informed. But he handled the disagreement perfectly, no twitter canceling, just trying to make points.. perfect IMO.
The country has moved so far right this century Bernie is repeating issues of the 1970's, when considered mainstream kitchen table, blue collar sense. Still no 'Universal Health Care'. No sign of "Medicare for All" as one party Loves middleman cut (insurance just one example).
Hearing them talk about growing up Catholic really brought back some memories. I'm 19 about to be 20 but grew up going to Roman Catholic church and Sunday school every week. It was how they described it, boring, horrible, anxiety inducing, and similar to them, the reason I'm an atheist today. Watching two men 47 years older than me share literal word for word experiences similar to mine is haunting. Every aspect of their childhood was probably so vastly different to mine. I grew up on video games, cartoon network, scholastic book fairs, etc. And yet the Catholic religion manages to span nearly 50 years, and give these two men identical terrible experiences to me, a person who has no right understanding even the smallest notion of what the lives of these men born 4 decades before me were like. Truly amazing to think about.
It was an enjoyable podcast. Both men were great. Took me until the end to come to that perspective. Watch until the end. Make no judgements about either man. Listen, learn, repeat. Grow.
Two of my favorite celebrities in the house!!! Wow this was sooooo much fun! Lots of laugh out loud moments! Every week it keeps getting better! Thank you Bill and Club Random team!! I think the reason why both Bill and Bryan are so fit and healthy is that they understand humor, they spread laughter while laughing out loud at themeselves as well as at the jokes they say! RARE GEMS!!!!
I really appreciate this episode the most out of all I've seen so far. Bill Maher and Bryan Cranston are definitely among my top five favorite actors. It's amazing to see the testament of your friendship when you reference back to "Murder She Wrote." Revisiting the topic of race and race relations, the example used about people who had to cross a river to come to this country and now find it difficult to hear Americans complain while enjoying luxurious lifestyles and cocktails, like Mezcal tequila in a beautifully crafted studio, was quite poignant. As a 43-year-old African American, my lived experience aligns more with Cranston's views than Maher's. It struck me how easy it must be to express opinions on topics while surrounded by such decadent amenities, while I'm here preparing to face the world and fight for opportunities. I graduated from college and have a passion for graphic design. However, eight years ago, I lost my job at a high-end food company, and since then, the lack of financial stability has been devastating. In addition, I had the fortunate opportunity to work for a highly regarded Hollywood director and producer. However, the ongoing Hollywood writer strike has abruptly forced me back into unemployment. Just as I could glimpse a sense of peace on the horizon, I am now three months without work. The meager savings I managed to accumulate has been depleted, paid out to the landlords of society. In America, it seems the only color that matters is green, and due to historical disparities in generational wealth, white people have had more advantages than black people. Despite being smart, hardworking, and kind, poverty and systemic policies have kept me from advancing and enjoying financial security. It's a harsh reality that in a money-driven world, lacking financial resources can leave you in a vulnerable position. As I prepare to search for a job in Atlanta just to pay the rent next month, I've come to understand that the mechanisms in life are not always fair. Progress has been made, but there is still a long way to go before every American can experience the same opportunities. It's dangerous to adopt Maher's perspective that suggests we've made enough progress to relax the fight for equality. I find that idea far too risky to consider or agree with. On a side note, if you know of any great graphic design opportunities send me a comment.

( my father was catholic but my mom was clear we were not going to be raised as one so TG we were spared catechism). I just love hearing about all the personalities and behind the scenes of the Hollywood actors and performers. I am close to their age so familiar with most of the people they were talking about. So much fun!! That repeated Liam hemsworth comparison by Bill was hysterical! 🤗🥳
I am with Bryan Cranston on this. I grew up not being taught honestly about slavery and the history. I didn't learn about Fredrick Douglas or Jim Crow until my 20s, on my own. Neither are my nephews and nieces learning about it now in their private school (in the south).
White people do not own racism. It’s a human condition regardless of skin color. Slavery has plagued humanity forever and bias in favor of people we perceive to be much like ourselves will prevail until the end of time.
The more I hear Bill talk the more I like him. Not too left not too right, just a rational guy who won’t put up with extremes. He’s right that these Hollywood people are just drunk with activism and don’t or refuse to believe that most people today are good. Enough living in the past already.
@@Zeeblud-Music it's disappointing but be considerate of how good he was despite being neck deep in woke influence. His beliefs and arguments about race are aggregated, like for anyone, from people he respects. Yet he kept an open and unhostile conversation going with a 'heretic' as far as those influences are concerned. Most people today, including you, would be incapable of doing that. It's easier to run back into the camp that agrees with you and criticize. Easier to think of how other people could do better. Bill has always practiced being 'civil' while still very passionately disagreeing. It's really tough sometimes, but it comes down to a sort of optimism about society that is being crushed out of people constantly by the current political and societal powers. The more you find comfort in stepping away from these interactions whining, with nothing good to say, the less likely society is to survive this time. If you were Cranston you’d probably think the same way as him. You’re living the dream, showered with praise everywhere you go, and you’re in an industry where this is how you’re supposed to talk, because it’s bad form to be eating Michelin star food and the finest wines without giving lip service to to some cause. You should get yourself better heroes. Old fart Bill with his old-ass thinking.
Now THIS is INSANE. I wait all day Sunday to see who Bill will have on and I almost screamed when I saw it’s Bryan Cranston. One of the greatest actors of all time, easy.
It’s the podcast I look forward to the most now just because of the guests. And he just keeps topping himself
he's an amazing, best actor alive as far as I know.. not a high standard, but I think so many "actors" today, even the ones I like, are very single dimensional and just play flavors of themselves.
He should get Sam Elliott
he sucks
This is probably one of the best episodes of this podcast.
I grew up as an Irish Catholic...the Sunday school is very much an American thing
@@warbler1984 It very much is. We have weird traditions here.

Talk about Synchronicity! Just finished a Breaking Bad and Your Honor binge and Bryan Pops up on Club Random. Best interview yet!
This is one I've really been waiting for!
BYRAN, looks AMAZING for his age. He's handsome.
Heck yeah
Bill, this is an awesome show.
Authentic presence is so nice to watch.
Right?! I was cracking up!
I really appreciate this episode the most out of all I've seen so far. Bill Maher and Bryan Cranston are definitely among my top five favorite actors. It's amazing to see the testament of your friendship when you reference back to "Murder She Wrote."
Revisiting the topic of race and race relations, the example used about people who had to cross a river to come to this country and now find it difficult to hear Americans complain while enjoying luxurious lifestyles and cocktails, like Mezcal tequila in a beautifully crafted studio, was quite poignant.
Just read this, in October of 2024. Hope you found a rewarding gig by now.
@@reginafris6822 thanks for the reply. I'm still unemployed. After sending out over 1800 resumes through indeed and LinkedIn, I can't seem to crack a nut. I'm now homeless spending my days searching for resources. I'm trying to be an adult about it but id be lying if I said I haven't cried myself to sleep. The american dream now more if a fantasy than reality for me and many others. Housing is too expensive. So, I don't know what I'm going to do. I'll just keep pushing until....

Celebrity actors who became super big later in their career like Bryan Cranston & Morgan Freeman are awesome. They remain grounded and don't let that glitzy nonsense go to their head.
True. Success too young seems to brainwash them into believing their own hype. And many were already narcissists to begin with (the business naturally attracts narcs).
Cranston may be the coolest guy ever
Lol at the auto-subtitles at 20:16 - "when the Civil Rights Act was passed by Elvis". Not sure how involved the king was in that particular piece of legislation, but I reckon LBJ wouldn't mind.
Bryan is a great guest. He kept up with Bill's conversation in a polite manner.
Brian is kind of a woke far leftist clown like Sean Penn is obviously.
Bill really behaved badly. He was so defensive of his position that he just wouldn't listen to Bryan. To me, Bill seems so self-centered he cannot shift a discussion to consider other people's experience. I enjoyed listening to Bryan as he tried to make inroads in a very persistent way without directly calling Bill out on his narrow arguments.
@@eileenmccarthy7392 I didn't get that all. Are you sure you didn't already have some preconceptions about Bill and were therefore seeing what you wanted to see. Pretty certain he could have named Felicity Huffman if had wanted to.

In less than a year, Bill has had the best guests in any podcast history 🔥🔥🔥
I'm sorry but I wouldn't classify hypocrite, NIMBY, Hollywood Liberals as a "best guest." Oh, forgot to add I'm also a History-Political Science major, magna cum laude.

This was delightful!!Had me continuously smiling after we got through the catholic stories. 🤗🥳
You are toxic as fuck...put social media down and come live in the real world...
I am with Bryan Cranston on this. I grew up not being taught honestly about slavery and the history. I didn't learn about Fredrick Douglas or Jim Crow until my 20s, on my own. Neither are my nephews and nieces learning about it now in their private school (in the south).
Growing up in South Georgia, we ABSOLUTELY learned about all of that. What part of the south are you talking about?
White people do not own racism. It’s a human condition regardless of skin color. Slavery has plagued humanity forever and bias in favor of people we perceive to be much like ourselves will prevail until the end of time.
The more I hear Bill talk the more I like him. Not too left not too right, just a rational guy who won’t put up with extremes. He’s right that these Hollywood people are just drunk with activism and don’t or refuse to believe that most people today are good. Enough living in the past already.
Exactly bro i just made a similar comment. Its disappointing to say the least to see bryan crumble under his white guilt live on air.
Coexistence has to supercede getting everything you want.
@@craigslist6988 I agree on him being civil, and give him his kudos for that, but you don't know what I'm capable of, or what I've done. Everything I see on the daily is in opposition of my beliefs, so I'm not exactly running to my side, or living in an echo chamber. Expressing my disappointment from the millionth celebrity to cave to woke culture, is exhausting at this point, and predictable. "Whining", pointing it out, and giving backlash for that tired, flawed way of thinking is all most of us can do, and vital. I appreciate understand, and get where you're coming from though.
If you were Cranston you’d probably think the same way as him. You’re living the dream, showered with praise everywhere you go, and you’re in an industry where this is how you’re supposed to talk, because it’s bad form to be eating Michelin star food and the finest wines without giving lip service to to some cause. After enough galas and dinner parties you’d fall right into it. Maher is a comedian, they have to observe reality to be any good.
Agree .. I like Bryan but didn’t realize he was so woke and into the white “ self loathing “ thing .. Maher made him look silly and I believe brought him down to earth a bit .
