Thanks to @thunderjaw_foodie_ajmer on Instagram and Brooke's friends Dad for all the delicious recommendations for this round of snacks from #India! The only thing we definitely did not like were those mints :) - other than that the tastes if India continue to impress!
The mint you tried is a very very Indian thing, its called "paan" needs an acquired palate. You ate it right, its just not the taste you are accustomed to. Also, it should be made fresh, any "paan" which is kept in a box can not do justice to the real thing, and the person making it makes personalized for each customer. So, no worries... keep trying more snacks there are still a ton more.
My friend is a fan of these.....I don't hate it..... but If it's the only option, I'll take it......btw we have the similar drink called "Lahori Jira".
12:24 There is a small group of people in India called Jains. They are a minority religion. One of their main beliefs is non-violence. They tey to avoid violence at all costs. Even to plants and trees. So they do not prefer esting roots as to get a root, the entire plant needs to die. No onion no garlic is added to food packs so that the jain people know that they can consume it without being in conflict with their beliefs. Note that onions and garlic are the most common roots consumed in India Similarly there is a green dot in a green square to identify the foods as vegetarian (different from vegan as milk is allowed in vegetarian stuff) While non vegetarian foods are now marked as a red triangle withing a red square. Earlier it was a red dot in a red square, but to improve accessibility for color blind people, the regulation was changed to a red triangle
The mints which u didn't like is actually supposed to be a betel leaf stuffed with lotsa digestives (sweet ones too sometimes ) and is a highly acquired taste..not everyone's cup of tea...hence understandable...youve just scratched the surface in terms of the variety that's available in Indian snacks and munchies...there's TONS more...
Jeera is hindi for Cumin. There are many people in India as well who have no liking for those jeera drinks. The last one that you ate was 'Paan' which is betel leaf and other spices and you didn't eat it wrong, its an acquired taste, not something that everyone likes in the first instance. It's a mouth freshener, hence the strong taste and smell, not meant for everyone.😆😆 Also Pista is hindi for Pistachios not the short form😅😅
Jeera or cumin is cooling - which is why we in India appreciate it as it helps to be cool in the hot climate. It is also a micronutrient with medicinal properties- jeera is helpful to ward off acidity & flatulence
Ya bro jeera(cumin) drink is not for everyone, I dont like it either but many people do . My favorite drink would be Maaza. If you find Maaza please try it next time if you haven't yet

Mint is also common in India. Basically westerns have never developed strong test & smell Habits. For us all (Most of the )western food is tasteless & smell less. We Indians can not even think of it.

All the drinks, please drink it chilled (except tea 😁)... Jeera flavoured drink is kinda of digestive type of drink that's why it taste weird..., Amul cardamom drink is kinda of milkshake drink... All tastes best when chilled. Rusk thing dip it in tea for 4, 5 sec for nice taste. And please camera madam & the big guy in the next taste test...
As yo said you don't like mangoes, have you tried Indian mangoes? Indian varieties like Alphonso, Totapuri etc? Since its mango season I would highly recommend them even if not on the channel.
The cardamom juice is basically milk + sugar + some cardamom powder. Cardamom is a spice which is not hot, but flavourful, its often added to sweets to give it fresh flavours. In nature cardamom pod is there which is green in colour (Fresh green) then the pod is broken (easily) and the dark brown seeds come from inside it, Cardamom seeds are even chewed to be used as an instant natural mouth freshner
The Maggie would be more good...if you have boiled all the water. Maggie is kinda plain noodles. It's not Soupy Noodles....Also the Canned Drink - "Jeera" basically means Cumin. It was a Cumin flavoured drink. Very good for digestion. It's an After meal drink. Yeah🤣...the last thing that mint is very strong. And it's the level 1 of becoming an addict...people start with it and increase ingredients like tobacco, then smoking then drugs, and alcohol tooo
Your view on mint is really weird; I can affirm it is not true; no offence But I think that last thing could be flavoured paan, an acquired taste and not for everybody

LoL😂😂😂😂 I enjoyed your reaction, especially the last one. The Pan (after mint) is an acquired taste. It took me also a couple of tries before I started liking the taste.
There are some versions of the jeera drink, one is where it is added with coke ,its good to hv after a spicy meal...or maybe on a hot day you might like it then, you know you can't be having certain types of combos , like having a milk tea then going for the jeera drink. The paan stuff is actually a spicy, sweet etc blend of ingredients rolled by together with a leaf that has a strong taste but usually is supposed to be chewed and spat out...it is not taken by many people as it stains the teeth red ,also might contain tobacco, it is not a snack , some take it as a mouth freshener but mostly it is a form of tobacco. The pack u tried might not hv tobacco but only the leaf and spices ....the leaf does have a very peculiar taste but it is good for digestion and has some medicinal properties.
About the Rusk, try the ones from ujjain. There is a type which tastes great with dipping ones. Probably can be used as normal toast with butter spread over it.
That jeera thing is the thing which we only drink when our stomachs are upset with acids and that to keeping our nose closed and just drinking whole thing in one gulp
Do you know the significance behind the name wagh wakhri. The name literally means tiger and goat. It's supposed to mean that it's so good that mortal enemies like the said tiger and goat would come down in peace and sit down for this cup of tea.😅
Hi SIU, I like your videos and your cadid opinion on tastes. I also don't like that Jeera drink. My most favourite snack is Bakarwadi and Chakali(similar to Murukku) I deep it in tea and then eat it. At home or in most of the restaurants fennel seeds are eaten after meal as mouth freshener.
*SIR EVERY DISH IN OUR INDIA HAS ITS OWN RICH TASTE .. RICH CULTURE AND HERITAGE REPRESENTING ITS REGION OF ORIGIN .. DO VISIT INDIA TO EXPLORE THE CHARM OF OUR LAND* .. 🙏 🇮🇳
Being an Indian even I'm not sure what the last one is. It looks like some kind of betel leaves, it's too strong, I would never eat that. Also, jeera is a kind of spice, called cumin in English. I really hate jeera based drinks. People are giving you wrong suggestions. If it's too strong for Indian taste buds it definitely won't suit Americans. I would suggest you guys to avoid the spicier ones and try the neutral ones.
For the *Mint* try using it like chewing tobacco where you spit out the saliva so you can enjoy the flavours and its a acquired taste so ite based on individual preferences .
Some of the snacks were a bit too strong in the flavor department. In the initial days, I too struggled to like them. Then it became like an acquired taste. After years of trying and being force fed sometimes by relatives, it grew on me. The bakarwadi, jeera(cumin) drink, Amul Kool, Murukku, Paan( the thing which got a mighty zero) are some examples. :)
You might not have liked the drink because you do not eat Cummins in your diet back there. It's made from spices and Cummins , it is healthiest packed drink , good for digestion and gut health. We love your videos and reviews 😀👍
@@SnackInvestigationUnit Thanks for replying, we love how you describe in detail about your taste perception. 😀 There would be lots of Indian food which will have a typical flavours due to spices used here.

Pistachio in Farsi / Persian is pronounces PESTEH , Just a fun fact :) Loved your video BTW and Cardamom is a commonly used spice in desserts in India and Middle East including IRAN. Milk Caramel wafers are also popular in Iran and the Iranian brand I have tried is delicious !!!!
cardamom is elaichi and commonly used a flavoring touch in food items used for taste in Amul cool. And 5 star is loved by most of ppl favorite in India still. the last thing which you ate it must be "pan" kinda thing, just google "indian pan"
I always wait for these! In fact, I'm still looking forward to y'all trying freshly prepared pani puri and maybe some other chaat dishes. Also try to snag some Paper Boat juices (jamun, raw mango, chilli guava, jaljeera), sweet tamarind and vadapav.
Guys there are few Indian things we love to eat but a non Indian can't because they are not used to it so you guys should not try them, these are- Hazmola Chavanprash Pan (which you ate at last) We adore them but they are not made for you 😉
You ate the mints right however it's a very acquired taste for foreign palates. The overpowering taste comes from the rose petals and Fennel or Aniseeds which is similar to liquorice.
I loved your channel.. I want to say something.. indian food is also amazing as yours.. but you need to know something as jeera drink is for digestion after having rich food.. and of course frooti juice drink after giving a nice shake..
You should try the hajmola (digestive) ..it after dinner or used as digestive especially when you have had heavy food. Try the imli or classic flavour now that you have a indian store (tell them to give you Hajmola)
The thing which u guys ate of mint no on eats that too not even the candy of that because here in india that is made in a betel leaf and made fresh and the one which u got their is a manufactured product which is not available here in india no one eats manufactured one here in india
I guess its time to try Indian sweets... Rasmalai, jalebi, gulab jamun, rasgulla, mewa, egg burji, gajar ka halwa, moong dal ka halwa etc... Haha i can't even name them all.. But i want you guys to try more Indian snacks... That will be near about 500+ snacks. 😂😂

Do you know the significance behind the name wagh wakhri. The name literally means tiger and goat. It's supposed to mean that it's so good that mortal enemies like the said tiger and goat would come down in peace and sit down for this cup of tea.😅
Wow! Thanks for sharing 👍
Jeera drink is mainly for digestion, its drank after food for digestion,
The base is Jeera, which is cumin seeds.
Hi SIU,
I like your videos and your cadid opinion on tastes. I also don't like that Jeera drink. My most favourite snack is Bakarwadi and Chakali(similar to Murukku) I deep it in tea and then eat it. At home or in most of the restaurants fennel seeds are eaten after meal as mouth freshener.
Thank you for watching and supporting the SIU :)
Great!
Oh and anything cruchy...you can dip it in Milk Tea or Cofee! Tastes different and better imo.
Also try Good Day butter cookie flavour!
You might not have liked the drink because you do not eat Cummins in your diet back there. It's made from spices and Cummins , it is healthiest packed drink , good for digestion and gut health.
We love your videos and reviews 😀👍
That makes sense! Thanks for watching our channel :)
@@SnackInvestigationUnit Thanks for replying, we love how you describe in detail about your taste perception. 😀

Fantastic idea 💡!!!
We get cardamom in Indian store and it’s a spice used in sweets and milk.
You're right we have less preservatives in our food guys which is why it's genuine😌😌😊😊
cardamom is elaichi and commonly used a flavoring touch in food items used for taste in Amul cool. And 5 star is loved by most of ppl favorite in India still. the last thing which you ate it must be "pan" kinda thing, just google "indian pan"
Love you sir .plz try "chicken Briyani " .from 🇮🇳 🇮🇳 🇮🇳 Indian
When did jeera drink become fruit juice based
I always wait for these!
In fact, I'm still looking forward to y'all trying freshly prepared pani puri and maybe some other chaat dishes. Also try to snag some Paper Boat juices (jamun, raw mango, chilli guava, jaljeera), sweet tamarind and vadapav.
Thanks so much for being part of the SIU!!! We will try to do these in the future :)
@@SnackInvestigationUnit Looking forward to it!
If "Wei Wei noodles" is available there, then do try that too. Its a different kind of noodles, which you can also eat dry just by mixing the masalas.
Guys there are few Indian things we love to eat but a non Indian can't because they are not used to it so you guys should not try them, these are-
Hazmola
Chavanprash
Pan (which you ate at last)
We adore them but they are not made for you 😉
You ate the mints right however it's a very acquired taste for foreign palates. The overpowering taste comes from the rose petals and Fennel or Aniseeds which is similar to liquorice.
I Love My India ❤
Please try some Indian foods & dishes too, much love ❤️🙏
I loved your channel.. I want to say something.. indian food is also amazing as yours.. but you need to know something as jeera drink is for digestion after having rich food.. and of course frooti juice drink after giving a nice shake..
Thanks for the tips!
I like that Jeera drink and Also can eat HAJMOLA with ease And Jeera is Cumin 😁
You should try the hajmola (digestive) ..it after dinner or used as digestive especially when you have had heavy food. Try the imli or classic flavour now that you have a indian store (tell them to give you Hajmola)
Loved your reaction after you poped that mint at last... You guys need to try Hajmola..
@Sarthak Jain 🤣🤣
Cardamom is a very common thing with great flavour, used in Tea all most all sweet food & masala milk.
it's not something we have seen here in the US unfortunately so it is new to us
