Sadly I think you should have kept it. Cars are so digital and nannied to death. They don't make analog, raw, manual cars anymore. I hate modern cars now. It's a shame. Last attractive Honda vehicle too.
Micah's comment " make yourself a better driver before you start fooling with the vehicle" is huge. I've driven my S2K AP1 for 9 years, much of it on open winding mountain roads and it is still teaching me. Last year I put on a set of Michelin Sport AS and it took some time to get the "feel" I had with the SO2's.
I own a S2000(year 2002) for 11 years now and i'am still in love with that car! Bought with 50000miles and now it has 115000miles on the odo. Buy a good example and you will have drivingfun for over many years.
You have been my favorite reviewer since your kelly Blue Book days, and here I find you again, reviewing my absolutely favorite car. I also had an AP2, but a 2005, which was the last model with the cable throttle, and I miss it. With that being said, my E46 M3 was the car that taught me how to drive AND perform various backyard mechanic shenanigans. Both these cars lead me to becoming an automotive engineer, and I would love to get an older M3 or S2K again. Cheers bud and I subscribed.
On the money with this review. I like the point you made about the windshield being not too close to the driver and giving it a more open feel. It's exactly the way I felt about the S2000. I test drove the ND Miata many times before I bought my S2000 and while it wasn't the only deciding factor, the ND Miata's windshield did feel much closer which kind of took away the open top experience, at least for me. So again, thanks for pointing that out.
I forgot how much I wanted this car back in the day until watching this. That stock spoiler makes me think so much of Tokyo Extreme Racing. Awesome vid. Thanks for making me re-appreciate this thing.

My neighbor, who looked puzzled when I asked him if it was easy..'toe/heel,' left me his 2005 for 3 weeks, Oh Boy! My first car in '72' was a BMW 2002, or my dad's 911S. This S2000 was pure joy to drive! I've been driving an 04 TSX, yet when I got that Honda above 6600 all of my youth came rushing back in a flash! Unless I could afford a GT3, I doubt there is anything that could equal the experience of this amazing car! I actually feel worse losing this car than I have ever felt losing a girlfriend! Fortunately, my friend wants me to teach him "to be able to drive it like you do!" That will never happen, but I may be able to hear a blip from one of his downshift's? At least I still get to drive it!

Did you let your wife and daughter experience the awesome S2000 with you as well? The one thing I love about the Subaru BRZ is the fact that it has 4 seats. Even though it has a weaker torque dip engine and less horsepower than the Honda S2000, the ability to take the whole family on spirited drive is unrivaled. Or even a quick lap around the neighborhood block. Nowadays all types of people are looking for used reliable S2000’s from high schoolers to midlife crisis heroes. As a dependable roadster the Honda S2000 is unrivaled as anything short of a Porsche Cayman/Lotus Elise won’t offer this much awesomeness.
Great review. It hit on a lot of the same points I debated with myself when shopping for a daily driver, enthusiast car after a 30 year time gap. I went GTI, but that's beside the point. It is about how a car talks to you. Love your enthusiasm!
@@MicahMuzio I'm back to autocrossing and enjoying the drive to work each day. Love seeing that Tornado Red animal every time I walk into the garage. The 500 Abarth really spoke to me, but the wife didn't feel the love.
So with the being able to go over the red line I think might exist in many honda vehicles. My acura tsx, k24a2, has a redline, 7100 rpm, well below the fuel cutoff point. Also I'd like to not that the power curve for the ap2 was better overall compared to the ap1. Peak power, as I'm sure you're aware, is not the most important thing to consider in straight line acceleration. If you take the integral of the f20 engine and the integral of the f22 the f22 will have a bigger number because the *area under the curve* is bigger. As recent as 2012, an E90 BMW 3er also requires inserting a key (though you don't need to twist it), and then pressing start button. Advantage is that the key was always "charged" when inserted.

After owning 4 S2000s not to mention the fact that I use to work for Honda I can assure you that you obviously DONT know your car and need to do more research. Come talk to me when you’re on S2000 number 5 and maybe I’ll consider that you might actually have more insight than I do.
@@StochasticWolfIt seems the higher compression jdm engines rev to 9200 but the usdm ones rev to 9. Which means the tach is just wrong. But a stock f20 is capable of safely revving to 9500 anyways but peak power is at 8300 so it doesn’t really matter.
Subbed because I want to make videos of my Nissan soon and spark the flame
Will that wing provide enough downforce to drive the car upside down in a tunnel?
If you go fast enough
I thought the Cr didnt come with a Radio or A/C
You could add them as an option.
I need those seats and wheels ASAP😢
I think the fake laugh is from having to concentrate on driving fast during the review. I have to agree, it's like don't bother
Micah, I guess you didn't use your owner's manual to figure out how to open the fuel door.
Miguel Baeza If I recall correctly, the owner’s manual was in the secret compartment, which I also didn’t know about. 😂
@@MicahMuzio Honda must of been very clever to hide everything on the S2000.
what blue color is that S2000?
Alvin It’s called Apex Blue Pearl.
@@MicahMuzio I have a Dc2 Integra project car that needs a paintjob, I thought laguna seca blue would be nice or Miami blue but I think im going with this color
@@hippo780 Miami Blue is gorgeous but it'd be cool to choose a color from the Honda/Acura family.
How much cowl shake?
Minimal cowl shake. Nothing that jumped out to me as noteworthy.
@@MicahMuzio One for sale on BaT
Very nice example 😍🤑
For a roadster of that size, the trunk is NOT small.
This car is almost as cute as you are.
John Webb That’s kind of you to say. Cheers!
@@MicahMuzio Thanks for all your hard work. I love your videos!
I have a GF King Fisher 1 04 s2000 base cr replica and 15 wrx 500hp ur cool dude
It saddens me that I'll never be able to enjoy the experience that the S2000 gives (as well as early Miata's and other small sports cars) due to my height.
:(
i’m 6’3 and have been using mine as a daily for a decade. BYS seat rail lowers the stock seat nicely to fit.
Honda S2000 Type-S.
Wait, so you had to insert/turn the key and THEN you could push the ignition button?!? W..... T....... F??
Keep in mind that feature existed when the car debuted in '99
1999 one of the first cars with start button lol
As recent as 2012, an E90 BMW 3er also requires inserting a key (though you don't need to twist it), and then pressing start button. Advantage is that the key was always "charged" when inserted.
The Push Button is located on the left hand side of the steering wheel for the purpose that should you STALL in a racing application, you can start the car back up with your left hand while moving the gear shift back into 1st with the right hand. A simultaneous motion to get back going
Idk if he mentioned this in the video, I'm still watching
Funny that cars had the same thing in the 40s
Looks like consepto deatail that car
sounds like a great idea. Except Utah.
