Looks like that's not going to be feasible or sensible now.

Another excellent video man. Love the series. I’m sure it’s the “go to” video for people trying to explain the premium of their cars to sellers. Now we gotta get that MR2 Turbo or Celica All-Trac video, there are no good MR2 videos. None.
I'm never letting go of mine. The more you modify it, the better it gets. For the same amount of money I've spent modifying mine, I could have jumped into a P-car, but even then the driving experience wouldn't be as satsifying.
My guy. Here's the issue that I have. While I like your video of why you can't afford a Skyline NSX etc, your last video is literally titled: Buy these JDM cars now before it's TOO LATE. This completely goes against everything I thought you stood against about some cars getting so expensive, now you're contributing to the problem. If shit keeps going like the way it is with Doug Demuro, Hagerty and Magnus Walker, Fitment Industries, Donut Media and with the aid of social media like Facebook and Instagram, all of these cars including any non performance variants of the same car or some cars in general are going to get so expensive that the average person may as well not drive. Shit used to be so affordable, everything's getting more expensive nowadays, and we certainly really don't need anymore cars to go up stupidly now. Also I don't understand why people buy cars as an investment. Buy a car because you love it not because you want to make money off it in the future. Also makes me laugh when people say, 'appreciating asset Lol. Assets is something that put money in your pocket every month. Cars don't do that. Its a liability. I like your videos man. You do extensive research and I like the way you explain things and your style of presenting but please don't contribute to the madness man. And please DO NOT make anything on German cars. That's literally the last thing we need and some are getting stupidly expensive already.
I appreciate the input! But as much as I'd like to believe that videos like this are the reason for these price trends, they're not. The collectors car market doesn't hinge on things like RUclips videos. These are established price trends that 20+ years in the making, and the buyers and sellers of these cars are hardly in the demographic of my viewer base. The things I make videos on have been reported on a thousand times before me and will continue to be documented an infinite times after. I merely take information from the internet and put it in one place. As far as the titles go, well they're provocative by design, but as you're well aware the information in the video is just simple trend analysis.
I was actually shocked when I found about this auction result. I called my insurance company to raise my stated value coverage on my CR just in case. These rising prices are a double-edged sword, prices increasing means more hesitancy to put more miles on the CR. It’s too enjoyable not to drive though, especially with the hardtop off!
Good call on getting the insurance adjustment, I've seen too many cases where a total loss has ended up being an all-out battle with the insurance company. Drive your car and enjoy it! Best case scenario, as you put miles on it, the value increases proportionally and you won't lose a penny either way!
I intend for my CR to be a family heirloom so ultimately not too worried about putting miles on the car. I got incredibly lucky buying my apex blue example at the very bottom of the depreciation curve!
I bought my ap1 right at the beginning of the pandemic. 9/10 vins. 34k miles. I purchased for 17k !! Now I’m positive i could sell it for even more, although it’s never going to be for sale.
I brought mine back in 2017 on offer up for 7500 till this day it runs like a champ I've had so many people asking if I would sell it wherever I go it gets attention I don't think I would ever sell it considering how much more rare these cars are becoming every year
I got mine right before the bubble. Got my 2007 S2k black for 24k with 28k miles. The dealership was trying to raise the price as we was waiting my bank paperwork. Lol I just made it
Honda needs to keep making more meme tier cars. Their vtec engines are just too good for them to move on from their internal combustion motoring heritage. They need to keep building efficient gas cars for passenger vehicles to fight EV’s and keep using their formula 1 technology for special cars like their type R’s, Type S, and Type V. The time to pick up a CR is probably just too late now. Shouldn’t have waited to pick one up 3 years ago. Definitely big sad.
Fight EV's? Honda has already announced that they are abandoning the internal combustion engine, embracing EV's completely by 2040. Pretty much every auto maker these days realizes that Net Zero is the way of the future. How much longer the ICE will be allowed on the road is hard to predict, but it's safe to say that the best time to enjoy cars like the S2000 is now.
I have a 2007 S2000 in Laguna Blue, purchased new in Jan 2008 with three mikes on the odometer, all stock (radio died and was replace but kept the original dead radio) clear title and clear car fax - current miles 13,131. YES - thirteen thousand one hundred thirty one miles as of today!
sold a rebuilt title'd 2002 with 100k miles back in 2015 for 8.5k, just bought a clean 2003 with 42k miles for 29k in 2021. Mistakenly thought I'd be able to get an 02-05 NSX now for 30-40k. Nope!
Definitely a challenge to find a nice and clean s2000 in today's day and age. I have been wanting one for 4 years and the prices kept going up over the years. A few months back, I narrowed down my search to a 2006 and up, clean title, 2 or 3 owners, stock or as stock as possible, below 100k miles, in new formula red, and with a budget of $25k. I searched pretty much the entire United States and after a few months of searching, I finally found "the one". It checked off all the boxes except for being a hair above 100k miles. The seller was letting it go for a great price and I just couldn't say no to the deal. I drove 10 hours out of state to test drive the car and drove it back home the same day. Best decision ever!
Same here, pick up an 2004 Ap2 in grand prix white with 101k miles for 26500, super clean car and interiors looks like a 10k mile car, white was hard to find for that yeae so i jump on that deal.. drives amazing even in stock form, i might keep it stock since that is even rare now
I got a 2004 yesterday for 19k with 88k, with extra wheels with bridgestone potenzas koni struts full exhaust and intake. Oh it came with beefy sway bars and adjustable CAMBER. She eats
I bought mines (2001/AP1) back in 2007 I was 19yrs old 😬😅 for 18k w/ 26k miles I’m second owner. Still have her been thru so many cars (c6 vette, other Honda’s) since then but not letting go of my s2k.
I felt in love with S2000 many years ago, wanted to buy one, but I am from the Europe were these cars are hard to find in any condition, went to check one pretty far away for me, that car costed 25k USD and was in pretty bad shape, then I rather got manual Z4 3.0si for cheaper.
Just bought a New Formula Red AP1 and I love everything about this car, If you are looking to buy one I say go for it before they get too expensive It’s definitely one of the coolest cars ever built to come from Japan.
Only 50 CR Delete models (no AC/radio) were made, making it one of the rarest production cars of the last two decades and the rarest S2K. The remaining 649 CR models had AC and radio, which is why a Delete model fetches a premium. The BB CR sold with radio and AC was not one of ten, but one of over 200. BB is the color most produced color and the vast majority of all CR models had radio and AC. See S2KI for production numbers, etc. Cheers.
Love this series, such great, well researched videos! I bought an AP1 2003 S2000 in December 2020 in the Netherlands, which I imported from the UK for €8500 with 180,000km in Monte Carlo blue, it was the cheapest S2000 in Europe and I'm doing a full rebuild series on my RUclips channel.
The S2k was my dream car growing up and after graduating college in 17’ I snagged a 00 with 55k for $15,000. Every now and then I consider selling it, I rarely drive the car and living in New England it’s stored half the year. but I don’t think I’d be able to afford another one later, I guess I’ll have to keep her for eternity lol
I just bought an all original 41k miles 2000 AP1 for $28k and even that is considered a good deal for a clean car these days. Who knows what the prices for clean cars is gonna be in 5+ years
I pick up a 2004 AP2 in grand prix white with tan interior, mint condition all stock for 26500 and for the condition and color combo it was a great deal.
Bought my Silverstone AP1 5 months ago for $6500. 180k on the clock running and driving. And its got a lot more to give. Been restoring her since. I dont think ill be able to sell this one due to the fact i wont pay what theyre asking for them now. 🤙🏽
Thank god the prices shot up!! I got mine one owner, 45k miles with oem hardtop for 17k at the beginning of 2020 now blue book showing me it’s worth 27k not including the oem hardtop which go for 4-5k alone
I couldn’t agree more. I’ve had my July 2001 built Type SH Prelude since ‘08. Very underrated and undervalued currently. Bought a 2005 S2K 6 weeks ago with high miles for $11.2k bc I saw the price trending upwards & It was the last clean title, OEM, never modded S2K in the country for that price. Now I’m realizing the SW20 MR2 T-tops may be next.

Part of this bubble is due to broader trends; all used cars are more expensive because the gov printed a ton of money. People have been in lock down and they want to cut loose by getting a fun car. It will slow down eventually.
I guess I timed it well but it was purely by accident. I just wanted a weekend car so I bought a 2002 spa yellow with 74k miles for $15k a few years ago. Ended up not driving it much so now it has 75k miles. Had to put a lot of money into it to get it sorted. I'd probably break even overall.
Donut media made a video about the s2000 a while back and they said the double a arm suspension was first used on the accord and than the prelude in the 80’s before being used on most of their other cars. Also it was 247ph 11.7.1 for the Jdm/uk spec and 240hp 11.5.1 us spec
Oh dang! That’s exactly my situation. I just purchased. 2005 AP2 S2000 with high miles bc the prices are skyrocketing and I currently own a July 2001 built Type SH Honda Prelude. One of the last ones to be built in Japan.

I miss Alex Albon 😢
I remember back when the choice between a clean condition low mileage fun Honda S2000, an old Porsche Boxster, or a brand new Subaru BRZ for $25,000 was a real question.
Glad we chose Honda 😄👍
got my ap2 2007 last year for 25k with 59kmiles on it. I already feel like I could flip it....but I won't because this was a dream car since I was 8 so I'm keeping this forever.
It took me a long time, but I finally found a clean, stock and relatively low mileage example. I’m not disappointed, it was worth the wait.
Great job! Enjoy it!
Loved this video. I must say I am beyond lucky. Just got a 2003 AP1 yes high mileage, original paint needs redone but not accidents all original except coil overs, timing chain tensioner, Steering wheel and radio and everything works except ac. I bought it for $2500.
Wow! Where?
Another excellent video man. Love the series. I’m sure it’s the “go to” video for people trying to explain the premium of their cars to sellers. Now we gotta get that MR2 Turbo or Celica All-Trac video, there are no good MR2 videos. None.
Both are on the list!
One of the best researched/presented honda/s2000 videos I've seen in a while.
Thank you Jose!
Facts upon Facts My Son!
Thank you. I been saying this man. Its videos like that that make them skyrocket wth
Literally any of my dream cars are getting so expensive :( 😭
I appreciate the input! But as much as I'd like to believe that videos like this are the reason for these price trends, they're not. The collectors car market doesn't hinge on things like RUclips videos. These are established price trends that 20+ years in the making, and the buyers and sellers of these cars are hardly in the demographic of my viewer base. The things I make videos on have been reported on a thousand times before me and will continue to be documented an infinite times after. I merely take information from the internet and put it in one place.
As far as the titles go, well they're provocative by design, but as you're well aware the information in the video is just simple trend analysis.
Great comment! I feel the pain reading this, these videos sure make things worse!
Bought mine in September 1999 and I still have it. What a wonderful car!!!

Agreed man! I'm just thankful they're still making the CTR!

Cheers.
Thanks for the info!

Part of this bubble is due to broader trends; all used cars are more expensive because the gov printed a ton of money. People have been in lock down and they want to cut loose by getting a fun car. It will slow down eventually.
I just “collected” a real nice one. haha
