My uncle has one of these, but an earlier model year. It's a gimmick based on a real purpose. I imagine the reason it's on the left is to keep it from the passenger since you can damage the starter if you attempt to use it as a engine off button
I've owned a lot of interesting cars, Challenger 492. MB AMG CLS63. Z4 M Roadster. 370z. 540i 6spd. Lots of others. To this day, my favorite car I have owned is a 2001 S2000, before they went to the 2.2 and the revised rear end suspension. Just a fabulous car.
I was autocrossing with me and my friends we all had Corollas and Miata’s, then one guy pulls up with this, heavily modded, took turns super quick finished the course in under 29 seconds, the average time was 36 seconds
A guy at Costco made fun of me for trying to fit my cart full of groceries in an S2k. When he saw I accomplished the task without a sweat, I got a touche! The body test is indeed legit!
Front engine, fitted in the correct, longitudinal orientation, driving the correct wheels, i.e. the rear wheels, stick a manual in-between, how hard can it be to do that? If you're building a sports car, that is the correct way to start. Everything else is a fudge.
The S2000 was my dream car since I played Gran Turismo 3 at 12 years old. I finally acquired a 2003 AP1 in 2017, before they blew up in price. Now my insurance is way more, and the car is holding up decently well, but ya repairs are not the most fun thing ever. But damn I've never driven a car that can deliver the experience of the S2000. No matter what I test drive, nothing compares the street legal race car feel of the S2000. It's also grown in legendary status since I owned it. When I first got it in 2017, sure people would stare because it's a beautiful convertible. But now the fan boys KNOW WHAT THIS IS... "OMG AN S2000!!!11 FUCKIN NICE!" When someone knows what my car is it completely changes their day. And god forbid, you meet a fellow S2000 owner, you might talk to them for 3 hours. I love this car. It might be expensive to keep on the streets, but I've daily driven mine for 7 years and it has enhanced my life greatly as a result.
Mr. Regular is in desperate need of a Honda sportbike. I owned a 2005 CBR600F4i and a 2003 VFR800 Interceptor that destroyed the S2000 in all ways. ... well, all ways except one - the S2000 includes airbags. With the bikes, YOU are the airbag. 😉
The s200 actually does have a hood service position. You have to take the hood stay out of the rubber mount and take it about half way up the left side of the engine bay. There is a spot near the front passenger tire that’s it meant to hold the bottom of the hood stay. The hood also has a mounting spot for the service position.
The “divot” in the trunk is to fit a full size OEM wheel and tire if you get a flat, it fits perfectly. The theory behind the button on the left is if you spin on track and stall, you can shift to first with your right and start with your left. The top safety is not tied to the clutch or gear, it is tied to the speedometer, over a certain (very slow) speed it won’t let it go up or down.
@@MasterLudoyou are right! I forgot about the ebrake lol. Which is funny because mine is modded to not have the speed limit but still need the ebrake so if I’m going very slow I can pull up the ebrake one click and operate the top.
I'm glad you're much more critical this giveaway compared to the 3000GT. If there's anything I've learned from your past videos, people will love a car even if it's a piece of crap because all of a car's flaws and quirks are what give it most of its character and charm, so pulling punches doesn't really make the car more desirable to compete for, it just makes the review less interesting.
Closest thing I have to an S2k is my B16a EK. And I can haul a ton of luggage with and without the seats folded. I'm not complaining. But ya Honda needs some high revving engines again.
IIRC, the divot in the trunk is so if you have a flat on the road, you can put the damaged (OEM) wheel and tire into the trunk by removing the tools/scissorjack from that divot.
When these first came out I was young close minded Cobra Mustang enthusiast. These cars have grown over the years to be one of my absolute favorite now. The sounds that come from that engine Bay make me want to touch myself LOL.
My theory in regards to the push start being on the left side; you will save a couple of seconds starting the car by using your left hand to push the button, while having the right hand on the shifter ready.
The reason the push button start is a thing is because of racetrack use. If you spin out or stall out on a racetrack where you need to get up and going really quickly, it's a lot faster to push a button
FYI you need to pull out the hood prop and reposition it to hold it service position, and the divot in the trunk is designed to hold the wheel with the flat tire
The extra divot in the trunk is enough room to fit a full size wheel in when your spare tire is installed. Normally there is a trunk toolkit that fills the bottom of the divot, leaving enough room with a flat floor for a carry-on luggage

I lost a lot of interest in this channel after removing the video with huge buildup, only to upload a neutered version, while halfway through the original version
its easy why the start button is on the left side! Cause normaly your ignition key is in your right hand! So you put your key into the whole with the right hand and your left hand wich is free pushes the button.

AP1 S2000s are like nothing else, awesome to see you giving another away!
honestly s2000 is pure class... built S2000's are no joke....especially with a spoon engine with 100k under the hood
That microphone next to intake sound clip got me so rowdy I was reported to Human Resources at work. Thanks, Mr Regular!
Engine sounds by Mick Gordon
Farting inside the trunk of an s2000. Classic
Magnificent dutch oven
The divot in the trunk is so you can throw your flat full size wheel in there when you're using your donut spare tire.
The s200 actually does have a hood service position. You have to take the hood stay out of the rubber mount and take it about half way up the left side of the engine bay. There is a spot near the front passenger tire that’s it meant to hold the bottom of the hood stay. The hood also has a mounting spot for the service position.
Honda, can you make this again so we can all stand around and say “the first one was better”
A school bus pulled up to its stop next to my house right as he was saying “here’s a school bus”
Ngl this car really suits YOU, for some reason.
To borrow a comment from the other S2000 Videos, Mr. Reg should really get one for himself at some point lol
As the roommate of someone who owns an S2000, you were spot on of the passenger's experience XD
The fact that you actually climbed into the trunk puts it ahead of my AW11. Lol
I like the new RCR! It's great to apply the standard format a little more loosely. There's less hidden jokes but more relaxing to watch.
Fun, excellent engineering, reliable. Thank you Honda.
In the many videos of the S2000 you have done, I like this one just as much as the previous giveaway S2000.
Amazing stuff as always, Mr. Reg!
When these first came out I was young close minded Cobra Mustang enthusiast. These cars have grown over the years to be one of my absolute favorite now. The sounds that come from that engine Bay make me want to touch myself LOL.
Where are the past winners? Are they real? Are there pictures ir reviews?
your guess is as good as any....
"I want to feel like you wanted me to know that you care" is insane
My theory in regards to the push start being on the left side; you will save a couple of seconds starting the car by using your left hand to push the button, while having the right hand on the shifter ready.
The time spent on the trunk experiment...chef's kiss...
A manual s2000 is a bit out of my price range so I settled for the Honda Beat instead =P
Does anybody else get tricked into getting x5 chances by the UI on the checkout hosted by remarkabl? Super upset that I was charged when I denied the x5 chances TWICE. Friggin dark pattern. I want the mug, I want my x1 chance, but to find out minutes later by my CC company texting me, that I was charged on two separate transactions is WILD!
Seeing the voice-over recording was a real treat.
Are the tires just rock hard china tires or worn out? Because all I hear is tire chirp where I shouldn't hear tire chirp.
Do we really need another video of this car?
Pro-tip, there's a spot on the left for the hood prop to stand the hood straight up. You've gotta pull it out completely and move it.
In the RHD version, the button is right next to the ignition key slot, as the dash layout is mirrored, but the key remains on the right side.
3:14 See that grin right there? that's the VTEC grin. Happens every time I launch it.
My friend's family used to have an arcade business at the Jersey shore. They saved the Canadian coins for their personal use because at the time, the Garden State Parkway's coin toss tolls accepted them. Thanks to your research, we found out that "Little Joey" can take care of that thing for his uncle on the way to Longport.
crazy how i was thinking about this car lately and the moment i go to find a review you upload it 😭
The website you used to raffle it away is very janky. Almost scAmmy. But I got a mug for $50 I guess that's how I'll look at it.
Hopefully the winner actually gets it.
