So, the way regenerate works is you pay the cost of it, and it keeps your creature from being destroyed, so since that troll has a regenerate cost of G, you could activate it once, twice, 5 times etc of you so wish to and each activation keeps it from dying/being destroyed once, it's why the card wrath of God says creatures can't be regenerate hope that helps also you can activate whenever too
