    Supercharge is quite nice when you're playing coop, as a buddy can usually cover you while you one-shot the teleporter boss. That being said, Cryocharge is very good in singleplayer runs.

  • @aidangreen7711
    @aidangreen7711 2 года назад +462

    I like Supercharge better. Cryocharge is good for Mithrix, but it can't freeze normal bosses and the damage is comparatively very underwhelming. I suppose it can be used for mobility, but I find that mines + a bit of movement speed is generally good enough for me. Plus, landing that weak point Supercharge with a couple of crowbars and watching a boss's healthbar just dissapear is very satisfying.

    • @Rc3651
      @Rc3651 2 года назад +22

      I'm also leaning towards supercharge, but the cryocharge might be good for freezing and executing a mass of enemies. Since I think the shots are a lot wider, so they'd hit a big clump. I wasn't paying attention to it at all when I first used the ability though haha

    • @karlveidel23

      I still strongly prefer Cryocharge as my main issue with Super is the 5 seconds you don't get to deal damage, which is a long time and early on is a big deal. Basically cryo is more consistent and safe for less damage (though it still chunks). Same thing with the two secondaries, short range scope allows for more consistent damage at the cost of dealing less damage per shot.

    • @nobleradical2158

      Supercharge synergies soooo well with a Ukelele, as the 3.0 proc rate makes it so the ukulele has a 75% proc chance if i'm not mistaken (and I don't think I am with my testing). The extremely high damage and Piercing ability makes it so you can OS very large and wide groups of ennemies. There's no need to shoot in the next few seconds when there's nothing to shoot at.

    one very useful tip ive found that im surprised wasnt covered is how useful her special is for clearing hordes of enemies when they form a conga line. quite often when i try sniping these conga lines normally, it takes quite a few shots. there seems to be a bit of damage falloff with piercing large amounts of enemies at once. several times ive sniped enemies in a conga line that normally would be 1-tapped even if i didnt hit the weakspot and they will only loose about half their hp.
    however, if i use my spec, this doesnt occur, dealing the maximum damage to everything as well as being a wide horizontal cylinder of damage instead of a thin beam, which results in obliterating anything thats in the general direction of your shot and not just what your crosshairs are directing pointing at

    Given that you can still use your mines during the post-Supercharge cooldown, and that it scales with attack speed, I have found that Supercharge is far superior. Waiting for a few seconds to start killing shit again is not a big deal. The only major benefit to Cryocharge is that it synergizes much better with the new Lysate cells.
    (Also, if for some reason you have taken Visions of Heresy or (God forbid) Hooks of Heresy, those items can still be used during the Supercharge cooldown.)

    I would like to add to the Railgunner pool of knowledge!
    If you're on the fence on whether you should take ATGs or Plasma Shrimps on the Railgunner, here are my two cents on it:
    It all comes down to Supercharge: enemies are not supposed to survive it. If they survive it, they will have very little health remaining most of the time.
    While the ATG can potentially make some of the highest numbers you've seen in this game if it procs on Supercharge, you're betting on a 30% chance of that happening.
    If it doesn't come out, you're stuck without Supercharge and with an enemy to kill. That's bad.
    With the Plasma Shrimp, while it is much weaker, it's still being based off an incredibly strong attack: you don't really *need* it to be stronger than it is. That'd just be overkill.
    With 2 or 3 stacks it pretty much acts as a guaranteed double hit of Supercharge (as long as shield is up) which is more than enough to kill most things in this game.
    Thoughts?

    I think an important thing to note is how Supercharge is really good at eliminating key targets which in turn gives you time to take out smaller ones since you don't have to worry about the big one anymore. Supercharge does an absolute fuckton of damage and you can usually 1-2 shot bosses with it fairly easily so it really comes down to preference of whether you want the versatility of Cryocharge or if you want the raw boss killing potential of Supercharge.

    • @pixxlated_
      @pixxlated_ 2 года назад +1

      1 crowbar though makes her alt M2 do nearly the same exact damage as Supercharge, just without a 15 second cooldown that ONLY starts cooling down when she recovers from the shot. Supercharge just isn't good comparatively, and the freeze mechanic scales much better, as they die once they reach a certain percentage (30%, which is a LOT of health later on) of health rather than a flat HP value. Cryocharge is just objectively better.

    • @kusanagi3579
      @kusanagi3579 2 года назад +7

      @@pixxlated_ 1 crowbar also makes supercharge do more damage too you know. Freeze also doesn't work on bosses which is a pretty important distinction to make. Cryocharge is better in more scenarios and more versatile but as I mentioned you can't discount Supercharge's raw boss killing power as that can make fights easier by virtue of not having to deal with the bosses anymore.
      Maybe in singleplayer Cryocharge is the more consistent choice(although I've had a lot of solo Monsoon success with Supercharge) but in multiplayer I'd argue Supercharge is much stronger since you have teamates to help cover the weakness.

  • @jaredschneider9662
    @jaredschneider9662 2 года назад +9

    I've found that in my runs Supercharge is superior as it just allows me to get that higher damage output sooner. Cryocharge for mobility is rather neat, but I've found that the Mines give you the benefit of adding your momentum when they knock you around. Assuming you have a feather or quail (which is almost always something you want regardless) and the attack speed to levitate enough with your primary that Cryocharge isn't necessary for mobility. Given that the cooldown and charge up periods on Railgunner are affected by attack speed, I think Supercharge is just better for the far higher damage output it offers.
    I also think that Backup Magazines are honestly underrated on Railgunner. You miss out on that bonus damage but if your attack speed is high enough you can fire so many high damage shots that it makes the alt version of the sniper rather redundant.
    Regardless though, there doesn't seem to be much of a "correct" way to play her, given how strong she is. All her options feel good to use.

    4:59 the 15 second cool down does not start until the weapon recharges; So the cool down is 5 secs (by attack speed) + 15 (normal cool down), so without items, your firing this every 20 secs at most. The freeze shot is just a normal 15 sec cooldown.
    On terms of back up mags, its good for fodder clearing. Yea the boosted shot is only for the first target but chain shooting before reloading can quickly get your pred stacks up and you can just unzoom and force the reload

    A few more things I learned when playing Railgunner:
    Bustling Fungus is not very good unless you are trying to collect for the Weeping Fungus void item. This is only because all attacks from the Railgunner cause you to move a very small amount, even if you are standing completely still, causing the Bustling Fungus to disappear and only reappear once you stop moving. In a harder run, you most likely wont even get the chance to stand still, but if you're starting a run and trying to camp a boss from the other side of the map with the fungus, you most likely wont get any healing when sniping.
    Despite the Lost Seer's Lenses effect on your crit damage, if you have just a few of them a high enough fire rate, you can just use the "Primary" because of the tracing. I got a really good run with this method because of a little luck and an early Lost Seer's Lenses

    Something fun to know for Railgunner when doing Eclipse (or just the game in general), is that if you pick Cryocharge, it can freeze Mithrix, allowing for some execute mechanics AND it can cancel attacks, such as the spinning fire columns. Pair this with a Lysate Cell, Alien Head or Purity, it allows for a pretty easy Mithrix fight, and if you get enough cooldown reduction, you can stunlock Mithrix, PERMANANTLY.

    The fact that sotv added an alternative for fuel cells that give more specials make cryocharge more powerful than supercharge, why wouldn't i do 5 shots for 2000% instead of 1 for 4000%

  • @MasterofLaziness
    @MasterofLaziness 2 года назад +4

    Supercharge vs Cryocharge I find is just a difference on when you want to use them. If your goal is to oneshot a boss, then Supercharge is your go-to friend. If you want to control the area a bit better, then kite and run Cryocharge down a conga line. Also, if for whatever reason you decided to grab the Heresy Primary or Secondary (rip run if you do the latter), they don't go on cooldown during Supercharge, meaning Visions has some real synergy with Supercharge, though I find it to be just a worse version of her primary otherwise. Also her M99 fires 9 shots of Visions for whatever reason, which feels like a bug to me.

    A lot of people saying they think Supercharge is the way to go. Just wanted to point out that while Cryocharge does about only half the damage, it also cools down immediately. The shot itself takes about 2-3 seconds (already starting recharge) and there is no weapon cooldown. Realistically, it's about a 12-13 second window before you can fire again, counting that little bit of time firing. The Supercharge takes (it seems like) the same amount of time to fire, 2-3 seconds, THEN adds another 5 second cooldown which takes away your ability to damage enemies almost entirely, and then finally does the 15 second cooldown. This means that Supercharge takes about 22-23 seconds to let you fire another one, as apposed to 12-13. Additionally, using supercharge on a horde of enemies is sometimes a run-ender if you don't manage to get everything at once. Wiped out a bunch of beetle guards and fodder right in front of you? Too bad there were 9 wisps in the sky right behind you, you can't shoot them.
    I agree Supercharge is better at purely one-shotting the teleporter boss and other random boss spawns, which are huge threats, but I'd argue Cryocharge is better 99% of the time otherwise. It may not do as much damage but it can almost fire twice as many times as the Supercharge--without the dramatic downside of not being able to use any weapons. They both scale better with attack speed, and while its more important on Supercharge for sure, Cryocharge also gets the speed boost in case you wanted to argue late-run effectiveness. I think if Woolie emphasized the drastic amount of time between shot differential a lot of you guys would think Cryocharge is also usually the way to go. Lastly, Cryocharge's freeze affect (which works on virtually every enemy) ALSO has a built in Guillotine effect that works on any enemy you freeze and don't one shot, (LEGIT 30% of their healthbar) and doing enough damage to reach that threshold instantly kills any frozen enemy before they thaw, just like Guillotines on elites. Plus, the entire time they're frozen they cannot hurt you. This helps compensate both for its overall lower damage and inability to one-shot. Supercharge definitely isn't trash at all though and I love that instant dopamine of turning a giant red healthbar to nothing in one click, but I really think Cryocharge is way better and that's why Woolie said so, alongside the little bit of movement benefit he mentioned. Not that this was a loadout video, though, so maybe he'll go more in-depth at a later time.

    Id argue at least having a few mags can maybe help- but only when dealing with lots of boss enemies at once. With enough attack speed you can fire off way more rounds than you would usually which could outdue the extra 500% since. There may be something I'm not accounting for but I did a quick test with 15 syringes and 5 total shots. For this I started the second I began zooming in and ended once I finished reloading the last round. If you reload without shooting all rounds it comes out to about 7500% every 5 seconds or 1500% per second. However when shooting without reloading until the final 5th shot it came out to around 5500% about every 2.5 seconds- whichmeans 2200% per second. Still it makes sense why this wouldn't be desired as its usage is niche

    not to mention the fact it does nearly 3x the amount a Cryocharge can, 2000% base + 500% perfect reload x 2 (crit) = 5000% while Supercharge is 4000% base + 500% perfect reload x 2 (crit) x 1.5 (weakspot bonus) = 13500%

    I prefer supercharge. Once you get some attack speed, it will be easy to get through the cooldown, especially since you can use mines to escape. Attack speed doesn’t scale much at all with cyrocharge. Also, if you combine attack speed with lysate cells, you can kill bosses left and right with a flick shot. But hey, it’s all just opinions anyways.

    Backup mags are good if you keep them as their name implies: a backup. I find I pick them up and use them for applying large amounts of single-target damage in a more consistent way than relying on watches or crowbars for the damage. Paired with the bands, blast shower, and some fuel cells, you can pump out some SERIOUS damage very fast on bosses.

    For me, stacking few backup magazines is a great idea for Railgunner. While consecutive shots won't benefit from perfect reload damage bonus, you still amplify the number of damage/targets you can shoot at before reloading. This helps Railgunner to sustain more DPS in a short period of time. (this is most important when the enemies are frozen from cyrofreeze, where you need to reach 30% threshold in a short period of time) Also, with backup mag, you can more reliably utilise predatory instinct and harvester scythe. Without it, you can only get 8 measly healing and one single stack of instinct. But if you have backup mag, you can multiply the healing and stack you can acquire before reloading (and resets the instinct stack).

    • @Drummerx04
      @Drummerx04 2 года назад +5

      Agreed. As long as you have enough attack speed to fire at least 3 rounds before reloading and firing again, you'll come out ahead on damage overall by using a few backup mags. Reloading then refreshes all backup mags, so you can dish out rather extreme bursts of damage.
      Also the alternate M2 apparently cannot use Backup Mags from what I've seen.

    From my experience cryocharge tends to be better in sim, while supercharge is better in normal gameplay. in sim, you’re in a closed up area with essentially no way out, and large hordes of tougher-than-normal enemies. being able to use your primary and m2 is super important when you literally can’t get away, and the execution from freezing helps with crowd control. On the other hand, in normal gameplay, supercharge (if used correctly) is a one click boss erasure tool. it also can hit in a small aoe. I do find that the effectiveness/ consistency of both seem to decrease as the game goes on, where even the absolutely colossal damage they deal can sometimes leave a boss at 50% or more health with a shot. it’s really annoying honestly it makes me feel like it’s a waste to use

    Anyone just... not like Railgunner? She feels like way too slow paced of a character for this game (which is focused on high paced combat). Sure, she can get guaranteed crits, but you have to take the time to aim down sights and aim at the crit spot, which sometimes can be the difference between life or death. FIRST OF ALL
    supercharge is better because BIGGER NUMBER
    secondly, void seer lenses in my experience are not bad at all on railgunner when combined with normal ukeleles (this kinda goes for all characters but thats neither here nor there, my point is that ukelele chain lightning procs void seers instakill, ADDITIONALLY i would argue that void ukelele is WORSE than normal ukelele for railgunner because normal uke spreads the huge supercharge damage across all enemies on a stage meaning that with just one ukelele and a well places supercharge youre clearing entire hordes of enemies on a 15 second cooldown)

  • @pixxlated_
    @pixxlated_ 2 года назад

    The argument between Cryocharge and Supercharge is interesting. If we're ranking them based on what Woolie ranks it on, Cryocharge is better as it's more consistent and you're not left out in the open with only your mobility. You have a near-20 second cooldown before being able to shoot again if you have no attack speed, and it's totally overkill.
    You can still one-shot bosses with Cryocharge as long as you hit the weakspot and just land one extra headshot afterwards. Also, another thing is that you nearly deal the same exact damage as Supercharge when you pick up even 1 crowbar. Finally, the freeze debuff it gives to enemies scales so well into the late-game, as it executes at 30% HP, not a flat value. But the fact that you only need a single common item that you are DESTINED to be searching for (as it is Railgunner's bread and butter) to be able to catch up in damage, AND you don't have to wait 20 seconds inbetween shots, AND you don't have to be left defenseless just proves to me that Cryocharge is objectively better.
    Ultimately, you can do well with both. That's the thing with RoR2, you can do well with any combo of abilities, it's mainly personal preference, but it's the consistency that matters. And Cryocharge wins in that category.
