Your intro on Lake Union.. That party boat ! I was just on one on the Chao Praya river in Bangkok, couldn't wait to get off ! Haha 😂The rest of the trip was restful and fun ! Ken Nordine "Stare With Your Ears" is a gorgeous cover ! I have never found "Sounds In Space" in nice condition...Yet ! What Time Is It !!! Classic
hello sir , enjoying immensely your videos of vinyl & travel..your relaxing manner & knowledge make them very addictive..Great spending such time in your company..have a great day & best wishes from Scotland..
You make a very good point Doctor Robert. Something I never realized about myself.Since my brother found my long lost vinyl collection only recently, I never realized just how many full (pretty much full) collections I had of different artists.Certainly was a creature of habit! Only now I am beginning to see how that pattern emerged. Not necessarily conscious decision on my matter, but there you are! And that is after working for many of the big record outlets i.e. Virgin Uk Virgin US, HMV, and having access to much. And yet I still unconsciously focused on collections. I think that brands me a "completist"? Thanks for that cool observation. I Thank God I didn't get into Elvis in a big way! Will definitely check out that compilation."Stay Awake"? All star cast for sure! You might yet, get me into jazz in a big way! Dipping my toe in to the water with my Steely Dan/Donald Fagen collection, but not dared venture into the deep end. Yet! Enjoyed the videos, keep em coming! By the way any videos of you visiting any record stores in merry old England? I may have to revisit again soon one day, to go round these old classic vinyl establishments. If they're still there of course! Hope your trip to Europe and of course the Safari was a blast! Regards to "Mrs Doctor Doctor"!
the party barges are out and about here in the Iowa Great Lakes, Doc, though smaller than that one. I didn’t know Ken Nordine was from Iowa. Now I need to at least get the first Word Jazz record. I first heard him on those trippy Levi’s TV commercials in the 80s. Great stuff. Cheers!
I learn from your words , thank you . I’m so opposite of a completist . That seems stressful to me , a part of me driving myself that I don’t like to drive me .Some artists made only great albums but that’s almost impossible to pull off. I look up Allmusic and read the reviews , often in store . If I’m unsure I’ll stream the record in question and make a decision from there I should say I’m part a collector but it’s tempered by the minimalist in me .
I only have Ken Nordine's 1992 CD, Devout Catalyst. He was doing some Grateful Dead related work on the radio, I think. I have never seen those record before. thanks
That is a great party boat. You always find the best music. Always love your videos. Well done.
Thanks so much for your support! Appreciated!

Been to Scotland just once. Loved it. Drove past Loch Ness and then took a ferry to Islay. Head spinning!
It seems most of us attempt to be completists. It is one of the joy of collecting to say”I have everything so and so ever recorded! Great video!
Yes it is a character trait. I might say character flaw! Part of the rabbit hole…. And there are many worse compulsions!
New to me, very enjoyable. I often just pick up a record based on the cover.
I do that also!

Thanks again man, appreciate your support!
I’m a completist too… once I get into an artist I need it all..
Yeah it’s part of the illness for me!

He had a great voice and was omnipresent in the 60s. I am amazed at his skill in poetry I guess you would call it?
Btw I will be back to okoboji early August? Can you dm me in IG? Let’s get a beverage if you are around!

Congrats on all that! For me it is a genetic thing, I’ve been a collector all my life! Can’t help it! 🤷🏽😂
Longtime Ken Nordine fan. Found a record at my local goodwill he did called "Twink". Multi-tracked dialogue and fun.
Still on my list! Thx for your comment!
Yes, it is not always for the music. I have multiple copies of certain records and in my collection for many reasons, so...
It’s legit. IMHO
Those Ken Nordine records are fun!
I k ow right! He invented a new idiom. And his skill at wordsmithing is truly amazing
