An engaging video (from an imposing angle!). A nice topic too... I buy mostly for the music but do collect versions of certain records that are important to me. Thanks for the video and love & best wishes to you and Mrs Dr Robert.
I agree there’s more to it than just the music. Yes I buy records for the music but still I want OG pressings, unique pressings and alternate covers etc. Good Video Doctor…✌
i totally agree with you! I've gone to several used record stores and online to find albums that contain the original inner sleeve and artwork! when i first started collecting vinyl i would immediately take the record from it's original inner sleeve and put it in an anti-static sleeve and throw the original sleeve away! what a dumb*ss i was for doing that! what really sucks now is that new releases of albums from artist 30,40,50 years ago just come in plain sleeves! i do have my limits on what I will pay for original releases with the original inner sleeves and artwork. iI try to keep it under 50.00 depending on the artist and the album!
Great video, thanks, I collect Santana (Dutch pressings hahhaa). Good to hear someone talks about this great band. Has your friend "Mazzy" , San Francisco origins just as Santana, ever made a video of this band, I don't think so. Too bad.
Hello Doctor, the Prince bootleg you showed on Rachel today, has one track with Miles, 'Can I Play With U'. That song (and most of the others I think) were included in the Sign 'O' The Times superdeluxe edition in 2020.
I agree completely Doc! Great video...as pertains to Abraxas, I have a '70 2 Eye as well, but I also have a '73 reissue (PC30130) that has the channels reversed! I pretty much keep it for that reason.
@@Doctore_Robert It's hell to get old...I once again show that an addled brain is my burden. My 2-eye label is of Santana's 1st record like you showed...the reversed channels are on Abraxas. Senility rears it's ugly head.
I think the quadraphonic pressings sound better. I would guess that they needed to have better quality control to produce them so they came out with less defects. Caravanseri is my Fav.
Hey Charlie! I put the title, year of issue, description of the pressing & any inserts, and then condition of vinyl/cover. Then I have codes to tell me I’ve cleaned it, recorded it on Discogs, repaired or inspected the seams, and put the record in a cellophane sleeve. I buy the stickers in a ten to a page size…
Love the video! I also buy variations of certain artists like AC/DC. Sure if I didn’t like the music I wouldn’t buy the pressings - but I don’t need 5 copies of Dark Side of the Music just for the music ;-) 🎉
Each day we stray further from God, and after the inevitable slide into “It is absolutely nothing about the music, stupid”, the End will be near. 😂 Kidding of course. I try to get OGs too. I grab the early Kinks Reprise tri-color steamboat label records whenever I see one, unless it’s completely trashed. I just love those labels. They may not sound as good as the recent Kinks Mono Box, but sometimes it’s not just about the music. In other words, what you said. I like your outer sleeve notes sticker idea and may start doing the same. Also, glad to hear your better half is doing well and wish the best to you both. Thanks, Doc!
Let me get this straight , if you have 2 identical copies, you MIGHT want to wean your collection, I guess that I'm a little slow, you want to get rid of some records, what am I missing here, you are a collector and you are at least suggesting loosing some records, please enlighten me. Yours truly, Brother Dave
Hypothetically if you had two identical records, same everything, except that the extra STEREO sticker that was applied to each at some time, was different, do you keep both?@@Doctore_Robert
Heretic 🍄. The music is paramount, but I want the record to sound great. And I agree and say that for me, the artwork, packaging and inserts come second. I have many OGs but that’s not as important and those other things..
Nice Santana showing Doc and much thanks for the shout out! 🙏🥰
Of course! Thanks for all you do to run your stream!

Thanks Loki!
It's not just about the stupid music. It's about the dumb jokes and the free pizza.
Plenty of dumb jokes. Free pizza welcome if you can find it
Good to see you back on the horse 🐎! Cheers 🥂
Thanks 👍hoping to keep going! I have time on my hands!

Thank you, sounds like we are cut from the same cloth!
Thanks man!

Thank you Sqoozie! Take care!

Yeah we are on the same page. It’s a learning process!
Their appearance in the Woodstock film is my favourite of the whole film. 'Soul Sacrifice', perfect.
Thanks David! He is an icon!
Love your take on mazzy’s it’s about the music. Live Santana. Enjoyed the video as usual.
Thanks again so much for your support! We need to meet face to face!
Thanks for the comma in the title :)
Dramatic…
Grammatic!

Hard to cover every topic! Makes collecting and sharing stories fun!

Yeah I was afraid it might be hype…but still. I’m glad to own it…
Mrs Dr Robert does great soulful dancing. And Mazz? well I've never seen Mazz dance, but I've seen him play the drums & that was quite enough.
Ha ha ha. Yeah I’m lucky she keeps me around…
Good to see a new video, thanks :)
Thanks man, more to follow!
We are of like minds when it comes to buying and collection these pieces of plastic.
I concur!

Sounds cool! I didn’t k it abraxas came out on 2-eye! I need to keep looking!

It at all! It’s minor by comparison to many other potential health issues!
I agree. Sometimes I buy albums because of the art.
That is yet another reason!
Stories from a vinyl collector... cool video!
Glad you liked it!
Great video! One of these years I'll make it to Austin for the record shows. These days it's difficult for me to get away and travel far from home.
Yeah this is my first time! Looking forward! Hope you get whatever travel done that you care to do!
The first four Santana albums are great.
Agree!
Favorite Santana. Everybody's everything
Which LP is that on?

That sounds likely! They definitely came out in fewer numbers which may also have helped!
Borbolletta was also released in quad
Not surprised!
Very nice, I collect similarly to you but I only have one copy each of Santana.
It’s never too late!
Thumbs up doctor. What information do you put on those labels on your records ?

@@Doctore_Robert that's actually a good idea, labelling records with that info, especially the collectable/valuable ones

Dark side is a great example. I have 4 different copies. It is what it is!

Thanks Klaus!
Absolutely right!
Thx!😊
Meet my friend from the national health. The music, yes but so much more. I have a quad system or three. thanks Dr. What and When is austin?
Nice to meet you! Do you have several different quad systems? That is impressive! I need to look up Austin but it is easy to find in google…
For collectors it's all about collecting, stupid. Lol. I've been collection one thing or another since I was a little kid. I agree with you.
Yeah I have the collecting gene as well! 😂
The demand for vinyl is killing it. Polyvinyl chloride is running out. The price will rise and rise.
Yeah that is an issue in many venues💪🏻😘

Thank you Russell. Very kind post!
Thanks for your kind words Russell!
Carlos Santana is awesome

All true
Thx!
What is the quality of Brazilian pressings ?
Thx
Sorry I don’t know yet! I will do a comparison in a future video!
Yep, that´s it! Cheers.
Ha ha!
I am a friend?
Yes of course! Unless you tell me something different. I am hard to offend…

The collected piece is the souvenir for the experience had, and the experience is the music, the music is always first, for everyone even collectors
