- Welcome to my hardest and most anticipated can you beat run ever in this challenge we are going to attempt to beat pokemon emerald kaizo (one of the hardest rom hacks on the market) With only starter pokemon. This might not seem that hard but the level cap in this game is crazy and on top of that every trainer has an elite team and did i mention that your pokemon can't gain any ev's and your opponent always gets max ev's it's also not possible to use any items in battle so this challenge is definetly going to be interesting.

@@assispereira3903 in the original game, it is in dewford Town. When you get to dewford, you see a fisherman that isn't a trainer roaming around beside the gym. You talk to him and you will get the old rod. Don't know if it's da same with kaizo but try it out.

@@chefgrizz6284 agreed. After the math it's essentially a 160 power move (crunch) vs a 180 (leaf blade in overgrow) or 360 (leaf blade crit in overgrow) if I did the math correctly
If the Pokémon is a physical attacker, crunch is a special move so it might do less damage

@@elsingplayz3161 I'm referring to the point in which Zwiggo puts a Merril into battle specifically. To justify using it, I'm saying it's a stretch but is arguable to make it a starter. Because someone in the games had it at the start. You could make the same argument for wooloo, but wooloo isnt in emerald kaizo and wasnt used in the video, so its pointless.
Besides Marill, you could also argue that Ralts is a starter because Wally had one. And unrelated to Emerald, but Wololoo and Morpeko as well. But official starters include only the regional grass, fire and water starters as well as Pikachu since Yellow and Eevee since Let's Go Eevee. Eevee was also Gary's starter in Yellow, but you can't choose it so it was not official before Let's Go games.

Immediately when you said that there are lots of toxic stallers I knew that Bulbasaur would be irreplaceable, just because of its typing. Moreover, Bulbasaur is possibly the best support pokemon of all starters. That's why it's often thought of as a weak starter, because normal playthroughs don't need support and you can go all out offensive, and its offensive movepool is a usually quite shallow. But in reality it is strategically one of the best starters.
Edit: Ah yeah but you went almost all out offensive anyways... I thought this would be a bit more strategic thinking.
Granted if this was a rom back of the first gen... Leech seed toxic would be a main carry option.
@@Jamstaro1 Good point, but I'd guess that if someone wanted to make a kaizo version of gen I, they'd either fix that to work properly (among some other broken mechanics) or make the AI use all the broken stuff. Imagine Toxic+Leech seed Exeggutors at every corner. Or max speed wrappers, clampers and fire spinners :D

i just finished playing emerald kaizo 2 days ago, its so funny to watch you struggle at the same places.
The fight against team magma leader maxie and the fight directly after that in the gym against Flannery drove me completely crazy, the solarbeams are completely unfair.
respect for completing this challenge with only starters, i could not have done it without any dragons or metagross
How did u get this game rom ?
I struggled against both of these too! I got 6 badges (the flying and normal gyms were easy) but then the emulator crashed and everything died

Just beat this 2 weeks ago with battles on set. Brutal experience. This video doesn’t do justice to how hard the Flannery fight or second Maxine fight is. It also undersold how hard the seafloor cavern is and how hard random trainer battles are in general.
most of the trainers and boss fights are OP. have to always grind at least 5-10 levels higher than needed.
This is soo good for the simple fact that it’s challenging & everyone basically has different mons so it’s excited for what’s next.

Unless abilities are different in this rom hack, swampert only has access to torrent and damp. Swift swim is exclusive to it's mega form only.
@@everythingedward7999 Abilities are different, hack creator got rid of stuff like Drizzle, Drought, Sand Stream and replaced a lot of abilities.

The Norman fight was a double battle in the version I played. That’s why espeon is there to trade abilities with slaking so it can lose truant.

I always find it funny how many people struggle to pronounce "Juan" that's my name so for me it's so normal, but you actually got it pretty accurate lol
Well, some language have their own way to pronounce names so what's wrong with people pronouncing names differently? In the case of Juan, who is also a common name in my country, (Indonesia with an Indonesian Language) we pronounce that name literally as it is written.

"I'm glad I didn't nuzlocke", I think we are fortunate too, since you'd probably still be trying to beat that ;) (a poketuber rival of yours started trying to beat the Emerald Nuzlocke arround the same time as this video, and they are STILL trying months later...)
That deoxys can be easily countered with a extreme speed arcanine, mine even had a -attack nature and killed it with no crit. I know that you couldnt use it but i will leave this here for future advice :D

Zwiggo brother I wanna drop a quick thank you. This video inspired me to try this and with the help of the hardcore nuzlocking community, we were able to do this challenge with gym leader level caps and set mode

Currently playing this for the first time with Swampert, Charizard, and Venasaur. Every pokemon counters at least 2 of them but Venasaur still carrys. Love the challenge though.

My team consist of Marowak (lightningrod, dmg dealer), Pelipper (swift swim, dmg dealer), Chimecho (levitate, tank) and switches between Pinsir, Metagross, Arcanine, Ludicolo. My HM slave Tropius takes the last slot. Thinking of adding Dusclops for that pesky Explosion resistance. Such a difficult game and I love it, BUT I would like that you had access to more moves (like endless TM's) and some moves like Thunder, Solarbeam and Rain Dance/Sunny Day

I started this game and I arrived at the six Gym badge with a team of level 55 Pokémon and after a lot of failed tries against Winona I quitted the game, but with tour video I decided to keep trying to beat the game💪
the game isn't that bad if you strategise and make proper teams, unlike this youtube video I didn't have any pokemon above lv 80 until I took on the 8th gym.
I beat it by playing and trying for 8 days straight no sleep I am so tired

I feel like they should add difficulty settings to the games story mode as a normal thing.. give them some replay value!
There are literally hundreds of pokemon with countless variation in what pokemon you have in your party. I'd say they're pretty replayable.
New game plus
massive legend yes, but no real difficulty curve. You have to make it challenging yourself which isn’t as good (to me) as an actual difficulty setting, would love something like a “nightmare difficulty” to spice things up.

Emerald Kaizo isn't the hardest rom hack, Crystal Kaizo and Stadium Kaizo are much harder.

@@Zwigg0 Blue Kaizo, Crystal Kaizo, Stadium Kaizo are all comparably hard. Emerald Kaizo definitely has the best quality of life edits and least amount of abuse. Crystal Kaizo also has a lot of postgame content because of Kanto.
These games are not hard they have artificial difficulty so yeah

I still think crystal kaizo is the nicest out of all those (and still the hardest) because it just cheers you up sometimes. (If you played it you know what I mean, the odd egg for example and stuff like that)
